I am so familiar with Frikadelles & Frites in Montebello that I did a search for the best fries in the valley. Since Frite is fried potato in french, I thought I’d be in for a pleasant surprise at La Frite according to the«best fries in the valley» search. It should have read, that they were the thinnest fries in CA and you get a relatively small amount for $ 7.00. $ 7.00!!! If, by the way, you are ever in Montebello for any reason, make sure you stop by Frikadalles & Frites for the best hand prepared, hand cut, fresh burgers and fries amongst other things. The favorite is the Juicy Lucy burger with their delicious SEASONED hand-cut fries.

If you’re looking for the best bang for your brunch buck, this is the spot! First of all, Saturday and Sunday brunch goes from 11am-4pm. FOUR pm(who else does that?). They have the best bottomless mimosas, the kind in which they pour your glass full of champagne and let you decide how much(or little) orange juice you’d like to add. The staff is always welcoming and on-point with keeping the champagne flowing. Their delicious brunch deal comes with the all-you-can-drink mimosas, a croissant, an appetizer and an entrée for $ 27. Notes: Sit on their nice, street-side patio(the inside is a little stuffy)/ ask the server to toast your croissant if you want it warm/the fruit plate, eggs benedict, and grilled chicken caesar are all great choices/there is meter parking and a little lot out back.

I was there recently for a birthday dinner and we had some ups and downs with the restaurant, probably the biggest problem was they had no filet mignon and they tried to serve the smallest dryest piece, then we had to wait for them to replace the meal, service was slow, although our waitress was very nice and extremely helpful, some of the entrees were mediocre at best and our food came out staggered so some people didn’t have their meals, the manager came over and offered free coffee, which seemed pretty insignificant as we found out if we checked in on Unilocal we got a free dessert. The place is charming and I wanted to really like it but the food quality wasn’t exciting.

I realized my initial review reads like many ROTDs. Consider it a salutation. I went there for my birthday, and never realized it was there. How could I have missed it? It’s a cozy French Bistro, with the caveat that I didn’t see any foie gras on the menu. It’s legal again guys, you need to liver it up! My duck entrée was juicy and crispy, I always like that juxtaposition of supple meat and crackling skin… …But, what really caught my attention was the onion soup. I use that as a barometer of how good a French restaurant is. As an aside, I went to Bouchon around the time it was new, and the cheese wasn’t melted all the way through, so I was sorely disappointed. But this isn’t about Bouchon, Thomas Keller get’s enough publicity. As you can see, I find the cheese to be the most critical part of the soup, next to the onions. Of all the bistros I’ve been to, their soup had the richest, and most cheese. It was perfectly browned, very subtle, no burnt flecks. One of my favorite things to do, like a redneck, is peel the cheese off the outside of the ramekin from overflowing. The soup itself has bold flavor, in fact, this was one of the few times I ate all the onions at the bottom. The service was attentive and pleasant. As such, La Frite has a very homey feel to it. Not like Homey the Clown, you know what I mean.

This is absolutely one of my favorite restaurants. The brunch is incredible and the service is great! Don’t miss the cobblers — they are divine. Dinner is also wonderful, with their traditional crepes topping the bill. Definitely come here!

I absolutely love coming here for the bottomless Mamosa brunch! The smoked salmon antipasto and the creamed spinach is amazing. Our waiter Danny was phenomenal! He is super sweet and tells jokes! ;) I made a reservation for 7 on New Year’s Day and we were all totally satisfied and taken care of. Highly recommend!

Love this little place. Such a romantic atmosphere best place for a little date. The food is exquisite and delicious. And Sunday brunch with bottomless mimosas is divine. I always choose something new and it never disappoints. Great wine selection and the location is perfect. Perfect especially on a summer night.

I don’t understand. I got an offer through Unilocal to redeem a free dessert or soup du jour. I spent the required money to do so, showed them the Unilocal screen, and they say«Sorry, not on Sundays.» They said that since brunch was such a great deal, they don’t honor promos at that time. OK. Great. That would be fine but I didn’t order the goddamned brunch. I ordered an actual entrée. Nope. Sorry. I didn’t see that mentioned anywhere. If you’re going to be affiliated through Unilocal and offer a promotion, then any caveats/stipulations ought to be in plain sight. Not honoring a promo is just being cheap.

Saturday night, Nov 22, my wife and i had an atrocious meal and experience. I ordered the eggs benedict. I found I could not cut through the muffin and I asked for a steak knife. Again, I could not cut the food. Then I noticed that the muffin was half frozen. When I pointed this out to the manager, Celine and asked her to take the item off, she said that as I had eaten the two eggs while I was waiting, she only took off one half. The best part was when she said«I hope that you enjoy ruining other peoples evenings». Lousy food served with attitude!

Great restaurant!!! The food was delicious ! The service was incredible. Our waitress Isabelle was very sweet and helpful. She kept checking on us and was knowledgable on the food she was serving. Great experience and the food defiantly 5 stars !!! The man working there was also very attentive and made sure we got everything we asked for immediately. The dessert was very scrumptious they brought out a dessert for my moms birthday and sang to her. The lady in the front was very friendly and welcoming we will defiantly be coming back!

Came here for brunch with a group of friends & it did not disappoint! Starting with SERVICE: We had a reservation for 7 people and, much to our delight, we were seated as soon as we arrived. I feel like that is so rare and it definitely got things started on a great note! Our waiter was also very attentive throughout, making for a really great experience. Moving onto the FOOD: We ordered a ton of stuff both off the pre-fixe brunch menu and also from the regular menu. Everyone was super happy with their food quality/portions/presentation so another thumbs up there. I got the Corn Chowder Soup Du Jour, Smoked Salmon Antipasto, and Eggs Benedict on a bed of artichoke hearts — ALLSOGOOD! And as if all that wasn’t enough, the meal also came with a chocolate croissant, which was clearly freshly made and totally delicious. Last but certainly not least, my two cents on DRINKS: Our group was either sipping on the Bottomless Mimosas or the signature Bloody Mary’s. I tried both and was a fan of both. Mimosas are hard to mess up but I appreciated how my glass was kept full the entire time I was there! As for the Bloody Mary’s, I thought flavors and spices were well balanced with nothing overpowering anything else. I’ve had Bloody Mary’s where there is too much alcohol or tomato juice, but this place got it just right. I will for sure be back again to try other things off the menu. Highly recommend!

I have loved this place for years! Most of my friends hate french food so when my Aunt Dede said lets go to dinner I suggested La Frite. The staff was excellent! The waiter brought two wines we wanted to taste and a third we had not requested but he recommended. It was better and less expensive than the two we wanted. We started with the spinach salad done my fav way… ½ spinach ½ romaine with the house dressing. They are HUGE so plan on it as a meal or splitting it. The crepes were YUMMY and enough to take some home for lunch the next day. Bonus… I checked in while there and we got a free dessert! We had the Crème Brulee and LOVEDIT!

Cute and romantic ambiance when sitting outside on the patio. The restaurant sign and indoor seating could use some upgrading but still cute for an older restaurant. We got the mussels and chicken cordon bleu which were both pretty good. When we checked in on Unilocal,we choose the Nutella cheesecake as our free dessert and it was amazing!

I LOVETHISPLACE!!! The ambiance, service and food was delicious. Their $ 25.00 bottomless mimosas champagne brunch is amazing! I had the starter of the cantaloupe with strawberries in the brandy. It was delicious! Then for my entrée I had the Eggs Benedict which they offer a variety of ways. Highly recommend this hidden gem in Sherman Oaks. Great place to go with friends or on a date. I read all the below reviews and don’t understand why people are saying bad things about this place. I work in a restaurant and this place gives you a great deal for bottomless mimosas. The food choices are excellent. Stop complaining people!

La Frite has been around for longer than I have, and since this is a quality in a restaurant that is becoming ever more scarce as I get older, I was excited to pay them a visit for Sunday brunch. Unfortunately, while there were some aspects of the meal that were very good, there were just too many misfires to keep the meal from being a disappointment. We were seated outside which was relatively full, though the inside was sparsely populated. Unfortunately, it appears that there was only one server for the outside, and he was stretched very thin, so it’s hard to blame him completely for the lapses in service. I ordered off the pre-fixe brunch menu, which was a pastry followed by two courses, and accompanied by their«bottomless» champagne and mimosas(more on that later). The pastry was a fairly standard pain au chocolat, and it was exactly what I was expecting. This was followed for me by a smoked salmon plate served with toast and sour cream, and then the eggs benedict. Both were really quite good. The salmon was fresh, as were the condiments, and the eggs benedict were well-prepared with perfectly poached eggs and a very nice hollandaise sauce. The creamed spinach and potatoes were also fairly good. My special ladyfriend did not fare as well as I did. She ordered the chicken and brie sandwich, and – to be kind – it was not very good. All of the elements were there: chicken in a light cream sauce, brie, apples, bread… but the way they were prepared unfortunately killed all of the flavor. The bread was a bit overtoasted, making the chicken seem a little more dry than it actually was. This dryness wasn’t helped by the fact that they sliced the brie paper-thin meaning that it crusted on top of the sandwich instead of melting. If they had let the brie be cut a quarter-inch thick, it would have allowed some of the creaminess to come through and offset the dryness. As it was, the whole thing tasted like Cheerios without milk. As for the service, it was very slow. I don’t mind a relaxed meal, but brunch is not a time for a two-hour meal. Drink refills came out very slowly, and I was very quickly able to find the bottom of the bottomless mimosas, since I finished one, and they never came back to provide a refill. So much for that. I am willing to give La Frite another chance, though. There is enough that they do right that it’s worth another look, perhaps when they are less busy or better staffed.

After viewing Kitchen Nightmare, I decided to visit the restaurant and have a taste myself. To be fair, the décor was great and inviting right into Paris. The coffee was amazing. Haven’t had such coffee in a long time. And I am afraid the good things end there. The food was not really that brilliant, certainly not Chef Ramsay standard and certainly not worth the money(it’s expensive). The chicken was hard(needed a saw not a knife to cut it), the portion was small was expecting more for the price. Crepes I am told was good, but it didn’t leave a good taste on me though. Coming to the dessert, I would say it was good not great. At least I was happy with the price. Over all it was a nice experience. Would I come back again? Most likely not!
