Jerry’s Shell Service Center

I visited this location around 1130pm last night and tried to use my Shell rewards card before paying (the card which discounts your gas 3cents per gallon). The keypad was not allowing me to enter it, only payment or a Ralph’s Reward card.
I visited the cashier, a tired looking older man with white hair, to ask about it and was bluntly told «We don’t take those».
I questioned. «You are a Shell gas station that… doesn’t take Shell rewards cards?»
He responds. «No. We don’t take those.»
I point at the signage literally next to his head promoting the card and question again «You advertise the card… but you won’t take it?»
He angrily says «No.»
I say «That makes absolutely no sense.»
He snorts, «Fine. Whatever. I’ll try.» He turns to the cash register. «How much do you want to put on here?»
I explain that no, I’m not trying to pay with the fuel card, merely apply the card so I can get the discount.
He is very annoyed with me now, saying «No, you pay now, how much you want I put on the card».
I realize at this point that he simply won’t understand what I’m trying to accomplish, so I ask for my card back and tell him «Forget it. I’ll just go somewhere else.»
I take my card and begin to walk away as I hear the cashier’s voice once more, this time shouting at me.
He said, and I quote, «Fuck your mother, you fucking asshole.»
I turn around and say «excuse me?»
He angrily stares at me for a moment, then throws his hands in the air and yells «fuck you»
I say «Are you serious? Really?»
And he just continues to stare at me until I drive away.

Put a $ 5 in and then added 4 quarters. only the quarters showed up. the help button doesn’t work. there were cars behind me so I just drove through and parked, and went inside. the attendant said the car behind me used the 4 quarters as an upgrade and he wouldn’t refund my money or give me a car wash for the $ 6 i had already spent. He basically called me a liar. I’m not going to try again and give the place my money for nothing when they have such bad customer concerns.
It’s too bad, I’d like a regular place to go and I live around the corner. Only go there if you don’t mind giving them free money and no car wash!!! I won’t even buy gas from them anymore.

Everyone’s reviews about the car wash are correct. It takes cash only which there is no sign that tells you that before you get in the long line for the car wash. And the push for assistance button doesn’t work so if anything breaks down nobody is there to help you. The late hours are good but if you can’t actually get your car washed, then it’s kind of pointless. Very frustrating experience.

This was the worst car wash. I drove through quick just to get some residual dusting off of my car. You could hardly read the menu but I saw faintly a six dollar option which would get me in and out. I drove up until it told me to stop and it barely touched the front of my car. The water didn’t even move to cover the entire thing it just poured down the top. Then the dryers stopped 40 seconds early. What a waste of money!

Where else can you get a car wash for $ 6 in 5 minutes?

They have a carwash here. I don’t know what else to say except its a nice feature after hours when car washes are closed.

I used to love this place. Until I waited 20 minutes in a line to get my car washed just to find out the machine was broken and no accepting cash.
Rather than making the 5 cars behind me wait for me to go inside and fix the problem, I drive thru and went inside to ask the clerk what was wrong
He said he knew about it but didn’t want to put a sign up before cars entered the car wash line because people would see it and assume it’s broken. Well hey guess what idiot, IT IS BROKEN!!!
No apology, no nothing. The guy inside was a complete jerk and told me I could wait another 20 minutes and pay inside.
Uh no thanks. You can FORGET MY BUSINESS EVER AGAIN!!!

This is for Alfred and his team at the mechanic shop at Shell gas station. I met him couple of years ago when my car broke down randomly around this gas station… and I have been a customer since. I live in downtown now but I still take my car to Van Nuys to have it serviced by him. Can NOT find a more honest, respectful, and caring mechanic in LA!!! Thank you for peace of mind all these years!

I came in for a car wash and the first time around I couldn’t figure out the drying part of the car wash and went through without my car getting dried, which made me confused and upset.
At most car washes you just park and the soap and water wash your car and also the dryer comes around and dries your car. This one is a little different, it gave me a green light so I thought it meant to go through but the fan is actually located at the very end of the car wash and you have to go through really slowly passed the fan for it to dry.
Even though I messed up the first time, I went over and explained to the worker, the worker was extremely nice and gave me a free wash again and taught me how to do the drying part. For the service I give 5 stars.

Went there on Sunday after searching for drive through car washes on here. We first filled up gas and then went to get the car wash. It wasn’t great! Barely washed my car and definitely didn’t dry it! For the dryer part, you have to slowly drive which is different from all the other drive through car washes that I’ve been to.

I originally gave this place 2 stars, but after awhile I’ve made it my go-​to gas station and I thought I’d give it 4 stars. This Shell is much better than the one that’s further south on Van Nuys. Van Nuys /​Magnolia is much less crowded/​busy than the one at Van Nuys/​Moorpark. Gas prices are unfortunately about the same.
I used to be annoyed by half of the screens not working on the gas pumps and having to go inside the convenience store to pay for gas, but during my last trip I noticed that the screen was brand new. I’m not sure if every pump has a new screen, but I was definitely happy that the one I was using was. Before, they were either completely out of service OR they were just soooo slow. A typical less than 5 minute fill-​up would take at least twice as long because I would be standing there waiting for the machine to work.
This location also has a car wash. The line can get really long, especially on the weekends, but recently I’ve gone on week days in the evenings and there is usually never more than 0 – 2 cars waiting. I was retarded during my last visit and accidentally drove through the car wash too fast, thus my car was still completely soaked and none of the water was able to dry off with the car wash’s huge blow dryers. I went into the convenience store and told the clerk about what happened, and fortunately he let me go through the car wash again (cheapest wash, quick soap and rinse), so I could fully dry off my car. I was really happy that he let me do that because I would have been PISSED if I had to drive off with my car completely wet. I washed it to get rid of the water spots, not to add more of them!
Overall I now give this gas station 4 stars. I’ve realized what I could potentially be dealing with that would be much worse.

Five stars:
1 for the fact that it’s located in Sherman Oaks (like me)
and 4 for the fact that it has a drive-​thru car wash for LAZY people like myself who don’t want to wash it, and who have social anxiety and would rather avoid contact with another human who could wash it too. Lolol

I was living there for 5 years and this was the only gas station I used to fill up. I got many other services too like the shop and air-​water. I found all the cashiers very responsible.

Drive thru express car wash ($ 5.99) will do the bare minimum if you’re in a rush or the regular car wash is closed. Does not replace the real thing. May need to towel dry yourself later too.

Like other reviewers, I had a problem with the car wash malfunctioning and the rude employee refusing to refund the cost of the car wash. He actually said to me, «It’s not my problem, I just work here.» Avoid!

If I could give it no stars that’s what I would give. This should be an attraction because yes, the lady that works here is insane. She did not want to take my $ 20 because she did not like the way it felt. We, or should I say she, had a hissy fit and said I was arguing. I came back seconds later, after grasping how insidious this was and asked to write to the owner. She called him to the front and infirmed him that i was arguing and angry and her decision and would not leave. Make a long story short, the owner took my money (that the bank gave me the previous day) and said they have a right not to take money that is questionable. I thought I was on candid camera. Now looking at these other complaints I think this women might need medical attention. I feel sorry for her.

Contact Shell and lodge a complaint about this Shell station if you’ve had a bad experience! I am! (Also contact your credit card company if you have issues with the car wash that they refuse to fix!)
Stories about insane lady yelling obscenities at customers are true. Check out the reviews for the Shell station at 5161 Van Nuys (same center). Why does she still work here? Oh right, obviously related to the owners.

The car wash at this station is convenient, but there is a crazy lady who works there (she could own it) who will scream obscenities at you if you accidentally mess up at the car wash, itself. This happened to me today and she grabbed my iPhone out of my hand when I was trying to capture a photo of this woman screaming at me for no reason. SHE IS NUTS! DO NOT USE this Shell station — STAY AWAY!

The m!@#$%^&*() clouds opened up as light came down from the sky when I saw this gas station at the corner of Magnolia & Van Nuys Blvd.: IT HAS A CODE-​ACTIVATED DRIVE THROUGH CAR WASH!!! No more giving your car over to someone else. No more wait. No mo’ drama! You can even pay from the gas pump with your credit card and get the receipt after pumping gas with your car wash code. You hop back in your car. You drive through. You type in the code, and in you go. Beauty!
