I adore this place — one of the best juice bars ever, and served in a relaxed, informal, airy setting. Great atmosphere, nice vibe, pleasant service. I always stop here when I visit Shepherdstown!

Great vegetarian food! Carolina BBQ is delicious, as is portobello cheesesteak. Also love the corn and potato soup! Nice outdoor area in back, though tables are unstable.

This was our 1st visit to this little gem and as a vegetarian, I get so bored with portobello mushroom, hummus etc. This place is so different and this Tempeh Reuben sandwich(not a great picture because I was inhaling it) was the best vegetarian meal I have had in years! The staff was friendly and helpful. They were having some computer issues and they were cool as cucumbers. I cannot wait to go back!

Love this place! 5 stars isn’t enough. The owners are super cool, down to earth people and have a great staff. They offer a variety of food/baked goods/juices/smoothies/amazing coffee both vegetarian and vegan. My favs? The green lemonade is amazing, as is the tempeh avocado Reuben. Pretty much any of the coffee creations are a sure bet, as well as the baked goods(gluten free and you’d never know it). The atmosphere is super relaxed and everyone has always been warm and friendly in the years I’ve been going there. Def a shetown staple.

Funky old place with a casual attitude. Gourmet coffees, vegan food, average to good. Can be too crowded to find an empty table. Understaffed, slow service. Free wifi.

I love to camp up in northern Maryland and in a nearby town we stumbled upon Mellow Moods. The staff are great and awesome for recommendations. The food is organic and delicious:) only downside is the fact it’s a small well known local place so sometimes it’s hard to get a seat if you want to eat in. During the summer and fall though the outside back patio has extra seating.

I stopped in for some fresh juice and a quick bite to eat for breakfast. Mellow Moods uses high quality produce. Staff is knowledgeable and the food was pretty good.

Soooo good! I love everything here and my favorites are: — Green lemonade — Blueberry muffins — Chicken pesto wrap — Hummus(best I’ve ever had) — Guacamole — Breakfast burritos I’m a health nut & very picky so it’s not easy for me to find a place I can eat, which is why I cook at home 90% of the time. The other 10% would be spent here if I lived in Shepherdstown :) Wonderful, cozy & inviting layout and sweet staff. Great for small groups, individuals & everything in between. Mellow Moods is everything I could want in a healthy café and there is even a yoga studio in the back. Cool!

Best place for post-hike energy refueling. Part café/part coffee shop/part bakery/part green juices and smoothies/all amazing. While they serve non-veg food, they also serve a large variety of delicious vegetarian and vegan fare made with love and attention. The atmosphere is sooo comfy. I can easily see spending hours here. There are tables inside, beautiful back garden patio seating, and separated coffee bar type seating for those who might want more quiet. The menu staples that I recommend are the black bean quinoa cheeseburger. So. Amazing. Best iteration I’ve had to date. And the quinoa side salad is scrumptious, drizzled in balsamic all on a bed of lettuce and topped with sprouts. The portobello burger is a second runner up, with marinated mushroom, caramelized onions, peppers, and a herbed goat cheese spread. Just delicious. Iced chai was really watered down and totally unsweetened(no sugar substitutes served here FYI) and I couldn’t seem to get it to taste better no matter what I added. I’d avoid it next time. Service is friendly and it’s a good value. You pay at the counter and someone brings your food. This isn’t fast food so don’t expect speedy service. It’s a place to relax and enjoy your time, read a book, people watch, etc. If I was local, I’d be a regular.

I had the worst customer experience ever there. After a mix up with the drinks we ordered the owner yelled at us for asking for just 1 of the drinks we actually ordered. Even after we offered to pay for the replacement multiple times he continued to yell at us for drinking from the wrong drinks his employee handed us. The staff was nice and the food was good though not prepared as described on the menu but the experience was absolutely unacceptable.

This is a great local spot if your looking for super fresh, well made food. Delicious vegan and vegetarian options; and the tea & coffee is really good too. 4 stars because the food takes FOREVER to come out. its hand crafted and well done though, so you have to understand that if youre in a hurry, you probably should go somewhere else. The staff is very friendly, and the outside garden patio is great !! Its a little pricey. I got the tuna melt(which was FABULOUS) and a small smoothie, and it was $ 15. thats a bit much for lunch for my liking. Its organic, well made food, which obviously costs more. I absolutely do get their smoothies for lunch though. they are so so good. I absolutely suggest going here if your in Shepherdstown. Perfect little spot for almost anyone.

Great vegan & vegetarian options in a quaint town with patio garden. Very tasty local veggie sausage wrap with spicy mustard sans cheese was lovely. Iced green tea has ginger(?) which mine at home soon will. Friendly staff and a buzz even in summer. I’ll be back

In the quaint little town of Shepherdstown, West Virginia, I wasn’t sure if I’d find any vegan options. Boy, was I surprised. There were a few places in this town that advertised being vegan friendly, but the one most recommended by the locals was Mellow Moods Café and Juice Bar. This low-key place has the look and feel of a college-type café with good, fresh food. The walls are brightly colored with random colors like lavender, blue, and lime green with colorful artwork on the walls. There is a main dining room, seating outside, and lounge-style seating in the back. It’s like a small health food, internet café in a small, college town. They said almost any of the items could be veganized as their menu was mostly vegan. It took a while for us to choose, but once we did, we took a seat in the loungey area. I started with a delicious Green Lemonade juice made with apple, lemon, and kale. For an appetizer, we couldn’t resist ordering the Vegan Nachos, as they were called on the menu. These were sooo good! They took blue corn chips and covered them with housemade cashew cheese, chili, pico de gallo, guacamole, and green peppers. We gobbled them up like there was no tomorrow. I was pretty full by the time my sandwich arrived, but I ate it anyway. I had the Tempeh and Avocado Reuben, which usually comes with Swiss cheese. Unfortunately, they don’t have any vegan cheese substitutes(not sure why) so they just left that off. It was served on a deliciously fresh marble rye with sauerkraut, tempeh slices, avocado, and vegan Thousand Island Dressing. It tasted like it needed something else though and that something else was the vegan Swiss cheese! It also came with a quinoa salad topped with shredded carrots. I was so thrilled to have found this place. The food was healthy and fresh and the juices were spectacular. You can not go here and not try the vegan nachos… seriously! If you only have one place to try in this city, I recommend it be Mellow Moods. And maybe if you mention you’d like vegan cheese on your sandwich, they’ll start stocking it.

I’ve been hiking at harpers ferry twice and I’ve been to mellow moods twice. I love the atmosphere after a long hike and the food feeds your soul after a day in the nature. Both times I got the portobello pleaser which is on ciabatta bread with goat cheese, spinach and tomato. I got mine with a side salad that came with sprouts, carrots, tomato, cucumber, and balsamic. Yum. I love this combo. My girlfriend got the southwest black bean burger that came with avocado and a delicious salsa. This did not disappoint either. Check out the pictures for yourself.

When I walked in here, I thought I love this place because it reminds of Hawaii, like the exact replica of coffee/juice shops in my former island home right in the middle of a college town in West Virginia. And then I read their website and discovered the idea for this restaurant happened while the owners were getting married and honeymooning in Hawaii. Nailed it, guys. It’s just a cool, chill place to grab a seat on multiple patios and have some healthy fresh food. This is where I got my daily counter culture coffee and lox sandwich fix while camping and biking. I stopped in twice in one day. The wait can be a bit long, and not for the lack of staff involvement. Those kids are busy running around filling multiple orders, and I can imagine it gets pretty packed. Yes it was a bit of a wait to get my food(about 20 minutes on a crowded Sunday morning), but well worth it when it was hand delivered by the friendly staff. Little do people know they also have a bakery called the Cake Hole upstairs that makes their breads and pastries and has a decent gluten free selection of baked goods as well. This place is also extremely dog friendly, not only do they have patios in the back and front, dogs can sit with you inside, and the staff will love on your dog.
