The only reason this isn’t a five star is breakfast. The setting is gorgeous and the owner was very responsive and easy to work with. Called to confirm details and on top of everything. The room was spotless and nicely furnished. The fireplace made our room incredibly cozy on a cool fall evening and the fireplace was nicely prepped for us.

This is the second review I am writing about House on Chase Creek. I wrote a bad review in July and I see it has been taken off. BEWARE! This is not the place to stay at. The breakfast was out of a box, it had a creepy feeling and don’t waste your money! As you can see there is only 1 review from 2015 and 1 review from 2014. You only see Bill once in the morning and thereafter know one is ever too been seen. I would love to know where my original review was! Apparently I have heard that business owners pay Unilocal to remove the bad reviews. I felt like it was something out of a Alfred Hitchcock movie. There was so many other really nice places to stay. I want to feel like it’s home but that was not what it felt like. I honestly don’t know how he stays in business, unless you get people who try it once and learn never to come back again.

I really do like house on chase creek. This was the second time my wife and I stayed there. However, as with anything else there are pros and cons. Pros The view of the creek is absolutely beautiful. In the morning you can go with your coffee and sit and relax by the two chairs on the lawn over looking the creek. The rooms and house itself are maintained well and are very clean Bill is a really cool laid back guy who is very accommodating The air conditioners are great and make the room really cold which is good on hot humid days and nights Extremely relaxing environment and definitely on of the cheaper places to stay Cons The breakfast is very very basic. Cereal, fruits, packaged yogurt, English muffin raisin bread and banana bread. My wife and I have stayed in a few bed and breakfasts and unfortunately this doesn’t even come close to a real breakfast. There is really no protein which is a shame The coffee is mostly Keurig which I find to be lowsy The pillows and bed are somewhat uncomfortable and I didn’t get a great night sleep In short I think that house on chase creek is. Very viable option for such a cool vacation spot. If the breakfasts improved I would give it five stars. I would stay again but will probably check out a different place next time we go

This was my first time to a B&B and I now have very high expectations for other B&B’s! Our host Bill greeted us at the door on the first night of our stay. He was so nice and welcoming, it felt like we were staying with family. The entire house is so clean and decorated with great taste. Breakfast is served daily(Cereal, granola, toast, breakfast pastries and coffee & tea). In addition, the rooms are cleaned daily by housekeeping staff. It is so quiet and peaceful, and the house over looks a beautiful lake with chairs and a hammock for further relaxing. It is extremely close to nearby shops & restaurants. Definitely staying here again on my next trip!

Shelter Island has quickly replaced Block Island as my favorite nearby vacation place from NYC, and my stay at the House on Chase Creek is a large part of this. Sharon and Bill are gracious hosts, however they are not fussy or nosy as some inn/b&b keepers are. Sharon was very helpful with suggesting restaurants and activities within walking distance, as we did not bring a car. Our room was spotless, and well furnished, not too floral or prissy, which was nice considering that I was on this trip with my boyfriend. No toiletries were provided, though I did not ask if any were available. The fireplace was wonderful to have during a chilly, rainy stay, and wood was provided to us as needed. Breakfast was provided-tea, coffee(which I thought was quite good), fresh fruit, yogurt, cereal, juice, homemade zucchini bread, eggo waffles and bread for toasting, butter & jam. It was served buffet style in the windowed side room, which provided a beautiful view of the water while eating. Overall, this was a perfect stay, and our hosts were polite and helpful-I can’t wait to stay here again!
