Shelby Lanes

Pleasantly surprised!
I do not recall the last time I had visited or been in any bowling alley, besides the tired old Sunnybrook last year
Shelby lanes was very well lit, bright, clean & attended by a very caring staff.
Especially
Joey — Vicki — and the snack bar gal
Plus rental shoes were fairly new, video & vending machines were all in working order.
The self scorer’s were fully functional & user friendly.
We had a bowling fundraiser here om 5−15−15 for special needs children & they whole staff went all out helping with ‘ANYTHING” that needed to be done.
I only say this out of full disclosure:
even the restrooms were spotless!
Also helpful is a front & rear entrance.

Took the kids here today for their fun pack special they offer on snow days and vacation days. The gets got shoes, 2 games, soda, and a choice of a hot dog, popcorn, or soft pretzel all for under 8 dollars a kid. This was a great way to let the little ones get their pent up energy out on the cheap!
As far as the ally goes it was clean. I witnessed the folks behind the counter cleaner tables after bowlers left and they were always quick to help out on the lanes when the little ones didn’t throw the ball quite far enough.
My one complaint is the woman working the food counter. She was very unfriendly and rude. Such a shame when people with personalities like that end up working with the public. I was going to give her the benefit of the doubt, but I noticed someone else had a similar experience a few months back so I’m going to assume it’s the same lady.

The boyfriend and I were looking for something to do on a Thursday night and saw this place had $ 1 shoes/​game/​beer. However it is 1 $ a person a game. We came in and the place was packed with mostly young people. The service of an older woman who ran the grill and soft drinks was TERRIBLE! Very rude, impatient, and disrespectful. I ordered Bosco sticks, on the menu it says you get 3 I asked her seeing I was only given 2 and she said you get three of the smaller pizza ones and two of the cheesy. There was NO clarification of even pizza sticks on the menu and I think she should have told me when I ordered. We had an alright time over all. Not sure if i will return given the bad food and service.

I suck at bowling, but it’s still fun. Shelby Lanes has open bowling after 9pm on Saturday. Think it was $ 18 for shoes and 2 games for 2 people. Not sure if that’s good or bad, but still cheaper than the movies… even with our enormous pitcher of beer. Good times.
Oh yeah, one disturbing thing… wtf with the people bringing their young kids to bowl late at night? Seriously, kids under 6 going bumper bowling when we left around 11pm. Your kid should have been in bed 3 hours ago.
