As expected, the property is a Hampton, and you get what you expect. This is a positive. The pleasant surprise came from the staff. Everyone we encountered was friendly and willing to help. We were often greeted by name by the front desk people for our 2 night stay. They also accommodated our travel schedule, and were able to check us in early so that we could get ready for the wedding we were there to attend.

Apologies in advance for this being a long-winded post but there is just so much to compliment this hotel/staff on! We were part of a 23+ room group staying here with my son’s hockey team when we traveled from Seattle to compete in a National hockey tournament. We had ordered a new hockey stick and had it shipped to the hotel where it was tagged and waiting for us upon our arrival… I had a very relieved kid at that point! The staff was helpful, friendly & prompt with the check-in of each individual family(there were a lot of us!). There is a large lobby area where breakfast is served where the team and parents congregated that night and after traveling all day, we opted to all stay in and ordered pizza, salad, etc for delivery. We failed to think about plates and utensils so Rachel, the evening front desk gal, came to our rescue! She provided us with those items from their kitchen and kept a large ice bucket filled for our beverages, all complimentary! After the boys’ game the next day, the front desk staff offered up an unused meeting room for the boys to store their bags/gear rather than have to store them in each individual room. Parents were SO appreciative of this! Rachel again exceeded expectations that evening when we congregated in the lobby area to visit as a group. We had several large trays of leftover Italian food from earlier in the day and she offered to warm it up for us in the kitchen oven rather than each person doing so in the microwave in their rooms. Both evenings she did all of this for us in between helping other guests. Hands down the best service I have ever received at a hotel! All other staff we interacted with was just as helpful! We woke up to a notice one morning that all of Shelby Township had a «boil drinking water» mandate in effect; no worries, the front desk had cases of water available for the guests’ taking. Facilities-wise, the hotel was clean, comfortable and welcoming. Breakfast was a nice variety which changed daily and the kids loved the pool. This location was farther from the rink than we would have preferred but after the awesome service we received, it was well worth the extra drive. Will definitely stay here again if our hockey travels bring us back to the area! Did I mention Rachel is fabulous?

I was disappointed in the service I received. I tried to set up a block of rooms for a wedding and although I was informed twice on different occasions that the dates I wanted were available, it turned out to be false. I had to follow-up multiple times with the hotel about my agreement as well. I ended up taking my business elsewhere.
