It’s always been frustrating to know that so many(trained) stylists don’t seem to know how to give a decent eyebrow wax. I’ve had way too many stylists screw up, give me a bad brow wax and a couple times I actually got hair ripped from the middle of my eyebrow that I’ve had to pencil it in for awhile. I’ve had stylists give me an unnatural shape and I’ve had mismatched eyebrows as a result. It’s hard for me to find someone who actually does good brows, and I’ve only found 3 estheticians/stylists who in my opinion, did an outstanding job. The other times, the wax was either just«okay» or so bad that the woman waxing me would actually gasp because she knew she screwed up. As someone who gets an eyebrow wax monthly, I’ve only had two waxes I was happy with. The first was by an esthetician in Los Angeles, the second was in Traverse City. I recently moved to Sterling Heights a year ago and although I have an amazing hair stylist in the area, she is only so-so with brows. It’s not that I’m so picky– apparently, I’ve been told by «stylists» that my brow hair is too deep [true], and although I have such nice(full) eyebrows, they’re harder to wax [not true]. Sick of having mediocre eyebrow waxes every month(or worse), I decided to make an appointment for a wax with Ulta in their Benefit Brow Bar, which is just great because I’ve been obsessing over Benefit mascara for the past 6 months now. I was approached by Samira, an esthetician in the Benefit Brow Bar, who informed me about their brow work and mentioned Ulta is voted #1 best place for eyebrow waxing in Michigan. She explained how different it is to get a wax with them compared to any other salon because she will take her time giving me a more natural shape while using Benefit to accentuate my features. I was curious and a couple weeks later, I decided to go back to Ulta and get an eyebrow wax with Samira. She’s gorgeous with exotic features(possibly middle eastern?) and candy red hair. She’s older, in her 40s but beautiful. She spent 20 minutes with me on my brows and the rate was $ 21 for an eyebrow wax, which is pricey but incredibly worth it for the extra mile they go. She gave me a wax showing off my natural arch, and she did a great job but then she started brushing my brows, which I never had that happened before during a wax. Stylists tend to cut the brow hair very short then wax around it, which I thought I liked it shorter, but she said the hair shouldn’t be cut, so you could brush it and it creates a fuller/bolder look, and looks a lot more natural. She did use a very small amount of brow coloring in the corner, then added a little bit of eyeliner and some gel. But everything looks so natural and when I left, I had the eyebrows of Camilla Belle. Haha… I am always going to go to Samira from now on and she’s truly an artist. I’d highly recommend her and if somehow I couldn’t go to her, I think I know to always go to an esthetician instead of a stylist who focus’ on hair. It’s always the actual estheticians who seem to do a better job at waxing, because they get trained better than cosmetologists do. I highly recommend Samira at Benefit Brow Bar in Ulta, Utica, MI. Even when I got home, my fiancé, who doesn’t even care about that stuff, wanted to really look at the detail in my brows, wanting me to follow him into the bathroom to look at them under better light and all he could say was how she was an «artist» and wondered how she did that. My eyebrows look so good and I’m happy that Samira really took her time and she even had me hold onto a mirror the entire time, while she showed me everything she was going to do and showed me where I should grow the hair out further and where she’d remove the rest. I do agree that Ulta brows are the #1 best place for brow waxing in Michigan, because she did the best job, ever! Although its a 20 minute drive, I’m always going to go here for my facial waxing needs. =)

I went to ulta for my trial and then I had my make up and my bridesmaids done for my wedding and it turned out amazing. Great Job ladies! All my services were only $ 60.00. I had my tattoo covered and eyelashes and make up.

I have been going to the Benefit Brow Bar at Ulta for almost a year now. You can basically walk in wait less then 10 mins and have your brows done. I usually see Kate, and she does a fantastic job. Well the last time I went I saw someone different. I can’t remember her name, but I basically left with skinny brows that looked painted on. I waited weeks before going back, to see Kate this time, and she worked her magic and I’m finally able to give my eyebrow pencil a much needed break. 4 stars because if you see anyone else but Kate it’s 1 star. Also, $ 20 for brows is a bit expensive, but I like I can pop in on Fridays without an appointment.
