Unlike the last review this one is great … the staff informed me today that they saw my last review and apologized for me not liking my burger … they know I eat cheese steaks from there and they bought me mine today… so that being said thank you very much. the cheese steaks are totally mouth watering and always great… I love them.. As I told them today I will try a burger again this coming week … oh back the the cheese steaks are so good because they have the perfect amount of steak cheese and vegetables. .sauce makes it nice and sweet at the same time … I had 3 this week… it’s not overstuffed and falling all over .its just right. yummy

Been coming here for over 20 years, this is the real deal! Fresh penny candy, all your provisional essentials and the best breakfast in Shawnee! Egg sandwiches are made with love and care and they have the best, fluffiest pancakes in the world! Yum! Go for blueberry! A stop in Shawnee is not complete without a stop at the general store!

Had to stop in and check it out. A big disappointment. Really thought it would be more of a «country store» Oh well. Been there, seen it! If you miss it in your travels, don’t feel bad.

Surprisingly large menu! Great prices. My Ruben sandwich was killer. Seems to be a local favorite and outdid the other high-​class establishments by far.

Definitely one of those hole in the wall places that are amazing. A little ways away from ESU but worth the drive. The breakfast sandwiches are probably the most efficient hangover cure. One of the best places for bagels in the Pennsylvania area, and they are very generous with the amount of toppings and meat on their sandwiches.

In our week in Shawnee, my family came here for breakfast every day. They were friendly, the food was excellent (flavorful, generous portions) and the prices very good. They were friendly, and the atmosphere was the perfect thing to start off our days in the Poconos. The general store itself has some touristy junk and overpriced goods like soup or soda or what-​have-​you — the real attraction is the deli/​café part. If you’re in the area, stop in and grab a bite. I left satisfied every single time.

More than 150 years old, I mainly stopped in here to say that I went to a general store.
We bought ice cream, maple syrup, water and some basics. There’s an area with tables and a little sandwich/​breakfast shop.
Very cute and quaint, but not necessarily cheap for some items.

This place has been here for over 150 years. It is great for what it is. I love the history and supporting these type of establishments so I had to go in and try their deli and check out the store. They have your basic grocery needs and have a small gift shop that carry Pocconos souvenirs. The deli is small but has a decent price and selection. The sandwich I ordered was delicious and they serve boar’s head which I consider pretty good deli meat. The staff was friendly and I heard they have great breakfast served all day. I will definitely go back when I return to East Stroudsburg. They also had a good selection of tasty root beer :)

Stop by Shawnee General if you need food, toys, sunscreen, sundries and touristy-​kitsch. They sell expensive 1-​day fishing licenses (not their fault, PA fishing laws blow) but don’t rent fishing poles or tackle. I think they have a deli where you can pick up sandos and snacks for your picnic.
