We decided on the Tuesday beforehand to camp on Memorial Day Weekend. We basically Googled every campground off of interstate 71 between Cleveland and Cincinnati to find that every campground out there was booked solid. My husband found this campground and called it and talked to «Larry.» Tent camping was both affordable and available so we told him we would be coming up. Larry apparently very recently bought the campground. It’s hard to say for sure, though. In our first interaction he pointed to a scar on his forehead and mentioned that he has memory problems because of a hole in his head. It certainly didn’t stop him from being genuinely concerned about his guests’ comfort, though. He gave us a tour, helped us pick out a site and pointed out the bathrooms, and numerous stacks of free firewood. We were the only tent campers in the entire campground. This isn’t a commercial campground. Larry doesn’t advertise and I didn’t think see any kute kottages anywhere like at *some* campgrounds. Quiet hours are strictly enforced, and this is definitely a nice, quiet place to set up for a weekend. What it lacks in spotless amenities, this campground makes up in character and service. The campground is close enough to the highway to hear the traffic from inside the tent, but the sites are not visible from the highway and are surrounded by trees. The RV sites are paved and are visible on Google satellite. The tent sites are in the woods next to the RV sites.
