My wife and I(and the dogs) camped here one night and absolutely loved it. It’s a bit off the beaten path and gave us the rustic, wilderness-like experience we were wanting. Since they don’t take reservations and there are only 9 campsites, we were a bit worried that we would drive all the way there and not get a spot. But perhaps because of its relative seclusion, we lucked out and there were multiple spots open. We nabbed one right along the river and really enjoyed the sound of it all night. We encountered some crazy, huge flying ants around dusk, but they went away as quickly as they arrived. We would definitely stay there again!

Dungeness Forks Campground is great. Go there. It’s beautiful. Just know that the temperature will differ markedly from Sequim’s predicted temps. It was 20 degrees colder at our campsite the first night than in Sequim. US Forest Service managed means you pay minimal fees — For your $ 14 per night you get vault toilets, water in the summer, and a raging river right next to your campsite. You also get to pack out all your garbage, so think about a keg if you’re taking a largish group for the entire weekend. We kicked a quarter keg with eight people drinking for two nights, then had a much easier time dealing with it than 100 beer bottles. So you’re thinking«I’m so going to have to pee all night with all that rushing water and a belly full of beer…» You’re wrong! It acts more like white noise and gives you total audio privacy in your campsite. I’ve often wished I couldn’t hear my neighbours music, children, talking… You name it! Here, you cannot hear anything more than six feet away from you because of the rushing water. I was in Site 6, which will hold anywhere between four and eight tents quite nicely and give everyone plenty of space. My dog enjoyed it, but was bit by something over the weekend. He liked walking in the river, too. The campground is nicely situated about half an hour from Hurricane Ridge. Dungeness Spit is a bit closer but I didn’t go there. Beware, it rains. Come prepared with some sort of tarp and rope to create yourself a dry spot, and put those tents on tarps. I also recommend bringing everything in rubbermaid tubs you can quickly close up. We were able to keep everything pretty awesome though a very rainy weekend of camping simply by preparing adequately. Go, enjoy!
