We bought a couple of Traeger Texas Pros and Traeger accessories here. I happened to catch an in store special and that was nice since Traeger’s rarely go below MSRP. Both managers were really helpful in helping me choose the right accessories. They spent a lot of time and shared stories about their grills. I got a great deal and wonderful experience. No reason to go to the big box hardware stores. Definitely worth the drive from Fresno. These guys really new their products. Sales staff were friendly too.

I ordered a Traeger grill for a decent price, picked it up at this Ace Hardware got home and discovered it was the wrong one. Okay cooler heads prevail. The owner contacted me and was apologetic for what occurred. It was basically a misunderstanding and the manager was not aware that the wrong grill was sent by accident. We successfully resolved our issue. Thank you Mike and Nelson’s Ace Hardware.

While I no longer live in Selma, I grew up frequenting Nelson’s hardware. This is the local hardware store(not Home Depot). I will always come here first because the staff know their stuff and provide the helpful service that one needs when you’re dealing with things that are broken, need to be built, or are preventing a catastrophie. The owners of the business are locals who contribute to the community and go out of their way to accomodate customers.

We did some Memorial Day shopping here yesterday, and we were very pleasantly surprised by the service. The cliché about mom ‘n pop stores really is true. We walked in and were immediately greeted. During the time we were there, I think about 10 different employees asked if we needed help. Maybe it was because I just looked like I was wandering around lost, or maybe I look out of place in a hardware store. Either way, it was a great surprise. It’s such a switch from being in Home Depot, wandering the aisles, looking for someone to help you. We ended up spending about three times what we’d originally planned on spending, because we(well, I!) kept finding things we needed. Something as simple as little gardening tools-I haven’t been able to find those at the big chain stores. We were also able to get a large pane of glass cut, which I know Home Depot and those stores do not sell. The only thing they didn’t have was much of a garden department. I was a little disappointed in that since they only had a few plants and none were what I was looking for. They had plenty of gardening supplies, however. Part of the store is a cute little gift shop that sells housewares and Hallmark-store type stuff. Perfect if you need a last minute gift. Prices of everything seemed very reasonable, and comparable to those big chain stores. So like the signs always tell you, shop local! Keep great stores like this one in business.
