I live out of state. First stop I make whenever I return to visit family. They have the best tuna. Portions are huge. I only get a mini, that is plenty to fill your belly.

Dear… Lord… I ordered a special hero on one of the written boards called I believe«Vercillies». It was a hero with: Chicken cutlets with melted Mozzarella, Waffle fries, Onion rings, topped with Crispy bacon and gravy. Although I was not a huge fan of their gravy, the hero was just suburb. I mean, out of this world. The size of this hero is just colossal. You almost don’t know to approach this hero when you open up the wrapper. Most of you are listing to this sandwich like its a heart attack waiting to happen with all the fried foods. Well let me tell you, its a risk I was willing to take. The whole foot long was consumed throughout the day. Lunch and Dinner right before I got into work. The outside of the place is just your typical Long Island deli looking building, Clearly on a corner lot. The inside is a bit aged, but fairly clean. The staff seems 50⁄50 honestly. The one girl there is sweet, really helpful. She was able to suggested some of the heros for us as the menu can be a tad bit overwhelming. The other guy seemed like he was bothered when I heard him speaking with the other customers that walked in. Perhaps he was just a bad day or something. It happens. Overall, the experience was good, the taste is excellent. I’ll be back again for another go.

I’m judging this place off of appearance. Dark, gloomy and dirty. Flys on the tables. Gross. Walked in and walked right out! It’s also connected to the breakfast nook which looks equally as disgusting.

Place was certainly made to crave your hunger with giant over stuffed heroes that one half of it is good enough for one person. But if you’re really hungry you can make an attempt to devour the greatly constructed sandwich definitely a place I recommend to anyone because you won’t be disappointed

Wow… by far one of the most tasty sandwich I’ve had in my life. I never knew you can add gravy to fried chicken to make it so tasty. Its been about 2 weeks since my visit and I can still remember the first bite, definitely a very unique sandwich shop. Definitely call ahead for pick up orders though as when I visited Sunday afternoon the line was quite long. Especially since there was a guy in front of us ordering about 6 – 7 sandwiches for his party. So calling ahead will definitely save you quite some time. I waited about 20 – 25 minutes total but the food is definitely well the wait. Highly recommend their chicken sub section although the roast beef I had was quite nice as well. For around $ 9 – 10 the sandwiches are quite huge, I had plenty left over for lunch the next day. I would say half of the sandwich is enough to fill up a grown adult. Other than calling ahead I would suggest bring enough cash as they don’t take cards. They have an ATM inside if you need it and plenty of signs pointing this out. Parking was pretty easy and the shop was very easy to find as its right on the corner. Overall a great location and really delicious food. My newest favorite sub place on LI!

This is a great hero shop and deli. They have a very wide selection of heroes sandwiches wraps, and salads. The place is clean, kitchen is right in front of you and you can watch the whole process. They give you very large portions. I am still stuck on the ginger spice so good !

I have been coming to Corner Hero(formerly Campus Hero) for years. The establishment is so engrained into the hearts and souls of every long Islander from Suffolk County that even those like myself who have moved away must make a pilgrimage to enjoy one of many options of sandwiches. My sandwiches of choice is the Chicken Cordon Bleu sandwich with lettuce, onion, black pepper, and honey mustard. Don’t forget the pickle!

I live really close to this place. It is walking distant. After eating there I should be walking home. Only shocking thing about it, I only ate here 3x. I drive by here everyday. it’s a constant drive by and I see it all the time. Every time I drive home from work, I always say… I need to come back here, but I never do. They have so much sandwiches to choose from — so much and it takes me forever to look at the board and choose from it. ahhhh the delicious choices. First time I went there, I ordered a sandwich that had chicken and bacon with a side of onion rings. I wish I remembered the name of it but sorry I don’t. BOMB of course. I was not a fan of the onion rings tho. 2nd time — I was flying out to California I believe and before my husband came out to pick me up from work and drop me off to JFK I asked him to get me a mix cold cut hero also adding some liverwurst in it. yum. Of course asking for extra mustard =] 3rd time I came with a friend V-Rap once again. I ordered a stinky hero without the bread =] it smells of garlic but let the smell fool you. It’s so good I can order it again with some mints afterwards. Gosh I am so bad with names… I need to write em down right away. So truth be told, this place is worth going… not just once… plenty of times… as much times you can. The price is worth it… not expensive at all. Don’t follow in my footsteps and only went 3x if I wasn’t so busy this Sunday, I would drop by because it’s my cheat day and I recall some customers last time order some bomb crispy chicken with gravy sandwich and I have been thinking about it.

The heroes are alright. In my opinion the bread is a little too thick. I got a simple turkey club hero. It was tasty. The bacon was so crispy. it gave the hero an extra crunch. which was delicious. The customer service was great. The guys are nice and welcoming and are willing to accommodate you. Their menu is big. a ton of hero selections. I would come back to try something else.

Got the long islander. There was a lot of meat inside. Th quantity and quality is good but I would still prefer se-port deli. Not sure if it was the Russian dressing or cole-slaw but it sure didn’t taste as good as se-port sandwiches.

Amazing heroes honestly probably the best on the island. They have all types you can make even special heroes like the batman and robin or the long islander which are both pretty good or you can just make one to be made to your liking. Their portion are incredible serving over filled delicious heroes that will have you full with eating just one half of the hero so if you look for great taste and a stuffed belly stop at Corner Heroes.

Came here at 6:30 on a Tuesday and the doors were locked. Knocked on the door and the kid inside sweeping tells me they ran out of bread. How does a hero shop run out of bread? This is the last straw for this place, last few times I’ve come here it’s gross inside and the employees don’t seem to have any idea about cleanliness. Save your time and go to Se-port.

Don’t be turned away by the inside of this place because the Sandwiches are outstanding. One hero could probably feed a family of 4. I always get the chicken cordon blue, It’s one of my favorites… Downside– no credit cards accepted so make sure you have cash on you. There is an ATM inside but is usually out of service. The inside was probably updated in 1978 but it adds to the charm.

After leaving the baconfest, highly dissapointed, my friends and I stopped in Corner Hero which QUICKLY changed our mood! I was a little reluctant to eat from the hero place due to its appearance, but my thoughts quickly changed when I shared a «Mr. Tasty» with my friend. This hero had french fries, fried chicken, lettuce, tomato, etc. The hero was huge and left my friend and I very full after sharing. While the line was long, the service was extremely quick and friendly. I can’t wait for my next visit!

You ever meet the love of your life and think how scary it would be if you never crossed paths with that person? Well, that, unapologetic-ly is how I feel about Corner Heroes. After BaconFest2015 wound up being a bust, my friend suggested coming to Corner Heroes instead, since we were in the area. While seemingly unappealing and uninteresting from the outside, this place is amazing. I find that hole-in-the-wall establishments that you find by word of mouth are always the best places. If my friend did not make this suggestion, I would have NEVER gone in! With the same level of difficulty and indecisiveness as a woman picking out a birthday or get well soon card in Hallmark, we scanned through the HUGE selection of heroes, wraps, and sandwiches. My friend suggested the«Vacilli»(spelling?) hero and he and my boyfriend got that. It was chicken cutlet, gravy, bacon, American cheese, and onion rings. Bliss. I think this was better than the one I got, BUT, the one I got was amazing. Ordered a Mr. Tasty hero which included chicken cutlet, melted American cheese, french fries, and ketchup. Amazing… absolutely amazing. This place has the best hero bread and chicken cutlets I have EVER tasted… EVER. Chicken cutlets were easy to cut, not too thin or thick, and juicy, not too crunchy/burned. The bread was good because it was soft without being mushy. I hate when hero bread is so hard that is tastes stale and is hard to bite into, this was NOT the case here. Hero bread was perfect. The cheese was so melty and amazing on my sandwich… seventh heaven. I scooped up a small side of macaroni salad at the end which was great. Corner Heroes serves GIANT iced teas in Styrofoam cups that you can keep refilling. Everyone eating at this place seemed really exciting and happy to be there, and kept suggesting items for us to try. Can’t say enough good things about our meal. BESTHEROESONLONGISLANDFORSURE! Will be back very soon :-) **CASHONLY but they have an ATM in the store**

Best hero spot on the Island. I’ve tried sandwich shops from East Hampton to Great Neck and everywhere in between and Corner is the best. I dare you to try and finish their hero in one sitting. They give you a massive sandwich for a good price. The chicken is fried fresh for each sandwich so you don’t get those cold chicken cutlets like 99% of other hero shops and delis use. Their roast beef is amazing too. Not your ordinary cold cut roast beef.

‚Make sure you never go here in the last hour or two before they close, place was trashed, slicer dirty, cheese was dirty not wrapped, ham sliced thick, lettuce was dirty and wet, tomatoes overripe, guy got order wrong, I got bad potato salad like sour smelly and out of a bucket with no lid, the place was dirty and we all got sick from it! Just be careful! I use to like this place but if they aren’t sanitary and got all of my family sick you should beware, you have to watch them and make sure they are handling the food right I watched him slice the cheese and I seen a black thing on the first slice and he put it in the hero, later my dad said he bit into dirt, I hate to be that guy that complains but I just had to report it, that’s what Unilocal is for. This is a 100% true story.
