The staff seemed knowledgeable. I wasn’t with Verizon for very long before transferring to their competitor. But they are way too expensive for me. I was paying $ 45+tax for 2gb of data! TWO! That’s outrageous! I saved money by going to their competitors.

I went in there to upgrade my current phone which I own outright. They pulled up my account and saw that I had an existing More Everything Plan and utilized the device payment plan. I planned to purchase my new phone with the device payment plan. The salesperson was very friendly as he explained that I had to pay a mandatory«upgrade fee» and get the mandatory«data transfer service» and that they could not waive either of those. I explained that the Verizon Wireless web site explicitly says that there are no upgrade fees and that I could simply purchase the phone from there and have it shipped to me. I would only have to pay the sales tax. Another salesperson chimed in and said that I would have to bring the phone to a store and have it activated and pay a fee. Despite my numerous attempts to have the fees waived or inform them of my findings to the contrary, they aggressively pushed the fees. I walked out of there with my old phone and a full wallet. I went to the Verizon owned corporate retail store and was able to purchase a phone and only pay the sales tax. The salesperson explained that there will not be any upgrade or activation fees charged to my account. There also is no mandatory data transfer service when purchasing a new phone. This experience leads me to believe that one of the following is true: 1. Every piece of marketing literature that Verizon Wireless has that explicitly says that there are no upgrade fees or activation fees when you are not on a 2-year contract is wrong and Verizon Wireless is falsely advertising this. 2. The people at the Verizon owned corporate retail store are lying when they say there are no activation or upgrade fees on the More Everything Plan. Furthermore, Verizon must have forgotten to charge me an activation fee when I signed up for the plan and added a device to it. 3. The people at this particular location are mistaken and are simply unaware of Verizon Wireless’s current plans and promotions. 4. The people at this particular location are lying and trying to extort money from people using these tactics.
