My wife and I arrived about 1:50pm and was ignored by the staff. About 2:05, a man came out from the kitchen and said they closed at 2pm. He just turned and walked away. I guess with the economy being the way it is, his business must be booming that he would turn customers away. All the signs on the front of the restaurant said they were open. There were people that came in after us that were seated were able to order. I would recommend you don’t waste your time and even try and go there.

If for some reason this place survives… the sushi and ahi poke are excellent!!! The service is perfection and the views on the patio are irreplaceable. Having said that, I was told the day we were there that it was their last day open. They were closing the following day. I’m so sad for them. I’m hoping our purchase kept them open for our return but I don’t think it’s so. Regardless, I’m posting this JUSTINCASE. GOHIRO’S!!!

The Sushi is always great and the servers are always great too! I don’t have to say any more really! The prices are reasonable and I love the balcony outside. The ambiance created a relaxed mood and so did the saki bombs! I took my fiancée here for her birthday. If you actually take time to look at the menu, there are many things on here that are amazing and not at the typical sushi place. We had around 8 – 10 different items and they somehow always add their own little twist to things. Yeah, many would yawn by sitting inside, but I always see the owner in there, which tells me he is dedicated. My favorite dish was the baked mussels and the tuna tataki. From there, the wasabi infused caviar topped rolls were the BOMB! I forgot the name of them, but ask for it when you go!

Yummy, Yummy, Yummy, I got love in my tummy, and I feel like a-lovin you! So Mr. Tyger schlepped me up to Sedona for my birthday weekend for a non-stop Fun-a-palooza extravaganza!(I even got to feed a ginormous tiger! SOOOOOCOOL!) To set the mood, we started with the ambiance of this place(Hiro’s), sitting outside with a full-on view of Sedona’s beautiful mountains, pink fluffy cotton candy clouds overhead and a ridiculously gorgeous lightning storm on the horizon. All of these things contributed to a perfect evening. For starters, we ordered the tuna tataki in a cracked pepper and miso sauce. D-Lish! We also had the baked green mussels(also yummy). For our rolls, we went a little crazy and ordered too much, but it was sooooo worth it, I think my favorites were the volcano roll and the fisherman roll(oh wasabi infused caviar, where have you been all my life??!) but we also had the delicious monte cristo roll, dragon roll, tuna lover’s roll, and cactus roll…(yes, we were STUFFED!) and our awesome server heard mention of it being my birthday and topped it all off with green tea ice cream(which goes perfectly with sake bombers!!!) Everything was delicious, and we had a wonderful time! Unfortunately, we wanted to take our leftovers home but forgot them on the table. *sigh* Guess we’ll just have to go back again!

Very skeptical about coming here since I’m from Cali and we get«fresher» fishes. Came here for a late lunch at around 3 o’clock. This place was practically empty. I believe the owner? seated our group of 7 right next to the window with the most amazing view of Sedona. The ambiance however lacks the«japanese» part of the decoration. Our server was Jake and I will say he was pretty decent. Not very into his job. Food: Fake. Average. Nothing special. The rolls consist of California Rolls while they add a bunch of other fish on it to call a «special roll.» –Firecracker Roll: Sooo… where’s the heat? It was just california roll with salmon? on top with sweet and spicy sauce and extra sauce. –Golden California Roll: deep-fried california roll w/no sauce! If it came with eel sauce or such it would have been good. –Chicken Katsu Combination Box: Mix vegetable tempura, mixed greens, rice, chicken katsu w/ketchup! For $ 20? No thank you. Kid’s Chicken meal: $ 4 and it was a better deal for the same thing as the chicken katsu. The presentation for all the dishes were non-existent. Bill came out to be around $ 63. I’ve had better.

We stopped in for a sushi snack and relax from our walk. We got to sit outside on the patio with a couple other families enjoying sushi too. Jake was our server and he took good care of us, but you could tell he had a station inside and picked us up as an extra table. We enjoyed a California roll, fisherman’s roll, super spider roll & steamed rice. The Wasabi roe was phenomenal! We enjoyed our«snack» and the views. We can’t comment on the service or freshness for dinner rush. The afternoon on the patio was relaxing and nice.

We were in Sedona during the Valentine’s Day weekend and couldn’t decide on where to eat. After driving around for a bit, we happened upon Hiro’s and boy, am I glad we ended up here! The place was 75% full and while we waited until a table was ready, we grabbed a drink at the bar. The hot bartender was very sweet and suggested some great«girly» drinks for us. There was a good mix of adults in their 20s-40s, and I would say plenty of eye candy for men and women. I can’t imagine the place is this happening on a regular weekend though… it being Sedona and all. Our waitress seemed new and although service was a bit slow at times, she remained sweet and efficient. We ordered: * Vegetable and shrimp tempura($ 8) — the batter made this appetizer very satisfying. It was delivered to our table crisp and piping hot! * Chicken terriyaki($ 12) — the chicken breast pieces were a bit dry, but the sauce saved the dish; overall it was ok. * Super spider roll($ 13) — this was my favorite of the night as the pieces tasted very fresh. The soft shell crab still tasted warm as I bit into each piece… yum! * Firecracker roll($ 12) — shrimp tempura roll topped with mix of crab, scallop, panko crumbs and eel sauce. This was good but nothing special. * Nigiri…2 pieces each of albacore, salmon, tuna, and($ 4.95 for each) — the tuna was so fresh and melted in my mouth! The other fish pieces were ok and definitely wasn’t as fresh as the tuna. The rolls were large, especially considering the prices(see photos). The drinks(coconut martinis and Ty-Ku cosmos at $ 8 each) were strong and good. Overall we enjoyed our dinner at Hiro’s and would definitely visit again when in Sedona.

Two hours north of the Phoenix desert, in the Red Rocks of Sedona, Arizona, you wouldn’t normally be looking for good seafood, much less raw sushi. But right in downtown Sedona, in one of the major new tourist’s shopping malls, is Hiro’s Sushi. Hiro’s Sedona has only been open for 2 months. It is in the artsy, new, modern Hyatt Plaza mall amidst tourists traps, art galleries, and gift stores. There are a lot of great art sculptures in the open spaces of this mall. Hiro Hashimoto also own’s Hiro’s in Flagstaff, which has won many local awards in Flag for sushi and a good family style Japanese restaurant. It is very large, and sits atop a rise that overlooks the main drag(highway 179), with a spectacular view of the Red Rocks that makes Sedona famous. There is a large patio overlooking the rocks, with perhaps 15 tables, more tables inside, and a large sushi bar. The two sushi chefs were also Japanese. We sat at the bar for a late lunch, and Goto-san, from Gifu prefecture(Nagoya) by way of Hacienda Heights, Anaheim and Orange, California, was our server. I asked him about Omakase, and he suggested that there is nothing super fresh or special, so we just ordered off the menu. The fish was still of good off the menu. The menu is quite large, offering Japanese dishes other than sushi, like udon noodles, tempura and donburi. They also have some special creations and of course, Americans’ favorite, Jive-Ass rolls. We started with Edamame, and a Hamachi Sashimi dish, which was slices of yellowtail served with tomato slices and topped with sliced jalapenos, soaked in a ponzu sauce. Quite good! We added an Arigatou Roll, which was essentially a rainbow roll stuffed with spicy tuna as well. We also ordered a shrimp/veggie tempura, and a platter of combo nigiri sushi, which had most of the usual nigiri, minus unagi and ikura, and added 2 inari zushi(brown tofu wrapped sweet sushi.) My companion had two draft Kirin 22 oz, and I had green tea. Food was well prepared and good, with a definite Japanese sensibility. Service from our waitperson, on the other hand, could have been more attentive, which I gues I expect from Japanese owned establishments, but usually this comes from Japanese national servers, not locals still working out the alignment of their chakras with crystals. I would recommend this place for sushi in Sedona. You don’t have many choices here, but this place is Japanese owned and run, and surprisingly good for the middle of Arizona! Sit on the patio and enjoy what you came to Sedona for… the beautful Red Rocks.

Arrived for late lunch to get something to tide us over before our late dinner reservation. The place was dead for a Saturday afternoon and we were one of two parties in the entire place(which was cool). Ordered shrimp and vegetable tempura, arigato roll, Monte cristo roll, and the firecracker roll. — The shrimp/veggie tempura is the same as it is anywhere else… nothing special — The Monte Cristo roll is WAYYY too creamy. If they made the roll smaller with less cream cheese it might be better but having a mouthful of cream cheese just wasn’t anything to scream about. — The Arigato roll was a typical rainbow roll so don’t be fooled… — The firecracker roll was interesting and had tempura flakes all over it which made it have the crunchy texture along with the normal texture of a tempura shrimp roll. This was our favorite among the three rolls… I personally won’t be going back, but that’s just because I’m looking for a better sushi place. Decent if you’re staying at the Hyatt… if you’re not, keep driving.
