FITZGERALD’S SPORTS BAR: New owner of old Wings. Making some needed changes.
Just a note, if interested: this is a WSU Cougar bar now. Owner was a Coog student. (Advertises re the Coog’s only; he is welcoming of Dawg fans but if you are looking for a big time Dawg’s bar, look elsewhere?)
Lots of mostly smallish (computer-​size screens).
Almost enough TV’s and in the past has enjoyed a Seahawks friendly crowd. Pool tables (2), & a good music system.
Perfect location as a neighborhood bar; there are MANY walking bars in this area of Ballard.
If a UDUB Dawg fan, suggest you find a Huskies-​cohort bar crowd.

Checked this place out because I wanted to try the chicken wings. It’s pretty «dive bar» like with pool tables and TV’s. I was there on a Monday when there were quite a few people in the place watching Monday night football. They only had one person who had to work the bar and the entire restaurant and then one cook. It took a really long time for the bartender/​waiter/​busser/​host to take my order. He was working hard so I don’t blame him at all. I got some teriyaki chicken wings and a basket of fries. I could see the cook preparing my food… mine was the only order that went in at that time. It took him waaaaaaay long to make some chicken wings and fries. He over cooked the wings then sat them on the counter, after they were done, then started to fry the fries. Couldn’t you do those two things simultaneously so they are done around the same time? Then, when both wings and fries were done the cook just set them on the counter and waited for the bartender/​busser/​waiter/​host (who was extremely busy tending to the entire place) to come get it to take it to me, all the while he’s just leaning over the counter doing nothing.
Also, on the menu they say they have these special fries that make it sound like they are hand made but I just got crinkle fries that were meh ok.
I would go back if I knew they had more than one person tending to the customers and a different cook. The other customers seemed nice and overall the place had a chill vibe.

I enjoy the mozzarella sticks and sweet n spicy wings. It’s a neighborhood bar, they also have decent drinks and a pool table! I always have a pretty good time when I stop into here.

Never been there, planned on going and spending an afternoon drinking beer, having lunch, and watching the NASCAR race… Only problem is, the love –all sports bar hat they proclaim to be, isn’t what they are! They don’t put NASCAR on their tv’s! Shame on them, hope they go out of business wishing that they had. Rob

I write this review from within wing masters. Been sitting at a table for over an hour and have not been approached once. Thankfully football is on to pass the time but wow. Really really bad service here. Is the place packed? Not by any stretch is this place busy. I can’t tell if they hate me or they’re just incompetent.

Tasty wings and nice variety of sauces. I’ve only ever been for their Wednesday night happy hour so it’s always pretty crowded but still — service is bad! They’re nice enough servers, but I’m not sure how they decide who gets what tables and how to track their customers. I’ve waited 30 minutes for a check before… you have to fight for service it seems. But the prices during their happy hour specials can’t be beat! I keep coming back.

Wingmasters is a somewhat divey sports bar located in Ballard. We stopped by for a late lunch and drinks on a Thursday around 3pm. Not surprisingly, the place was almost empty though it filled up to maybe a quarter full when we left after 4pm — just as happy hour specials went into effect (Monday-​Friday, 4−7pm).
We were starving when we arrived. To our dismay, we were told there was an issue with the fryer (I’m not exactly sure what it was) and that no food could be ordered for some time. This sucked. In the interim, we ordered pitchers of beer to tide us over. We hung around, watched SportsCenter, and queued up songs on the digital jukebox near our table. In addition to TVs and a jukebox, this place also has two pool tables, darts, and a couple pinball/​arcade machines in the back.
It was about 3:30 — 3:45pm when our server told us she could start taking food orders. With a name like Wingmasters, of course we wanted wings. Happy hour half-​off chicken wings began at 4pm, but we were so hungry, we couldn’t wait. We went ahead and put in two orders of 18-​piece wings for $ 18.99 each. Wingmasters offers a dozen different kinds of wing sauces from mild to hot. Unfortunately, we learned each order of wings can only contain one sauce. We chose honey lime (mild) and Thai peanut (hot).
The wings came out piping hot and drenched in sauce. There was so much sauce that it was bleeding through the paper in the baskets and dripping onto our table as the server brought it out to us. As we passed the baskets of wings around, the sauces continued to drip everywhere. After finishing the wings, all that remain in each basket were viscous pools of sauce.
The wings themselves were okay. Crispy and meaty enough. Our table definitely preferred the honey lime sauce over the Thai peanut sauce. As a fan of spicy food, I thought the Thai peanut sauce was mild to moderately spicy. Skinny celery sticks, ranch dressing, and a stack of small plates accompanied our wing orders.
We also ordered a couple appetizers to share. They included the corndog bites ($ 5.99) and mac & pepper jack cheese bites ($ 7.99). Like the wings, these apps came out piping hot from the kitchen. They were alright I guess, though they tasted like snacks you can buy from your grocer’s freezer and heat up in a microwave. For our purposes (sustenance after a long day of traveling and catching up with friends at a bar), they sufficed. These are not foods I would specifically seek out nor recommend.
A couple of my friends ordered cheeseburgers and enjoyed them. The burgers here are made with half-​pound beef patties and cost about $ 8 – 10 each. They come standard with lettuce, tomato, onion, mayo, and fries.
Aside from burgers and wings, Wingmasters serves other typical bar food such as onion rings, sweet potato fries, chicken tenders, and fish and chips. They serve salads and breakfast (Saturday and Sunday until 3pm) too. In addition to Saturday/​Sunday breakfast, there are various weekday specials such as 50-​cent tacos on Tuesday and 50-​cent wings on Wednesday.
The bar/​restaurant is dimly lit during the daytime. IIRC, the men’s restroom has one urinal and one commode in a tiny space without a lot of privacy. When I went to the restroom, it wasn’t very clean and was all out soap.
Service was meh. We were a bit indecisive on our food orders and our server didn’t do a great job at hiding her frustration with us. She thanked us on the way out though.

This review is based on a To Go order… We ordered 3 different flavors of wings and I was not impressed by any of them. One of them tasted like it was a mix of cinnamon and nutmeg, 5 of us tried it and thought it was awful! We also ordered French fries that tasted like they had sat in the freezer for far too long. I have no desire to go back and waste my money– there are many great choices in Ballard and this isn’t one of them

I’ve been coming to Wingmasters for the past two years almost every Wednesday for you know what. This place is a lot of fun, great $ 10 buckets of beer and superb wings that will change your life … Especially the next day. (It’s worth it). My classic combination is 4,4 and 4 atomic, Thai peanut and the jerk rub. Mix the jerk with the atomic for maximum effect.

I’ll be honest. I had some time to kill and I wanted to watch the gonzaga/​duke game. New to the area and don’t know much around. The day I came was awesomely insane. A sports bar with the game on, a pirate group meet up, $ 2 pbr/​ranier cans, and the nacho fries I had easily feeds two. Solid experience, even though bizarre.

*Been going here for a long time now and have to say, they are usually very understaffed, the servers are great when you get them but they need more people
*Atomic wings and pork wings are still the hit
*Tacos are just average to underwhelming but for 50 cents…

The wings & the service were fantastic! The people there are friendly. Thanks guys for a great evening! The wings were fat a the portion way exceeded those at Wing Dome.
Wing Dome has good wings but they are small, I mean tiny & over priced. I should have taken pics.

Pretty good spot for wings, but I’m not a fan of the seating arrangement. We came here on a Wednesday and they had a 50-​cent wing special. Pretty awesome, because I ended up getting 8 wings for only 4 bucks! But, it was really crowded, and the 6 of us had to share 2 tiny tables, and most of us had to stand and eat. We also played billiards, which was fun. The beer here is pretty cheap too. This place is great if you’re looking for a casual spot for beer and wings, but not great if you expect more of a sit-​down place (maybe it’s less busy during other days of the week). For the wings, I chose the apricot jalapeño and classic buffalo sauces. The buffalo was ok, but the apricot jalapeño was surprisingly really good. I also ordered some onion rings, which were also pretty good. Not my favorite wing spot, but a good option.

Good wings nice bar but hate how I can’t mix and match the wings nachos fry are great and love the hot and sweet wings

I’ve been going to Wingmasters at least twice a month for the last 4 years or so.
They are an a little slice of dive bar heaven with the exception that they are one of only 2 bars in Seattle that I’ll order wings at any more (wing dome being the other).
Get in here for happy hour Monday-​Friday and enjoy their specials on both half price wings as well as some of the best prices on micro brews and well cocktails anywhere in Ballard.
Now having said that. This is a locals type joint. Everyone at the bar at 5pm on a Tuesday knows each other and is known by the bartender and owner. Don’t let this seem off putting. It’s not an elite club and if you show up a few times don’t be surprised if Randy or Deb remember your name and drink order.
The only down side is this is most certifiably a SPORTS bar. If it’s baseball play off season or if there is any major event on the TV you may have a hard time finding a seat. Great atmosphere though even when the place is at it’s most crazy.

Came on a Sunday with no hawks and was ¹⁄₃ full for afternoon games. OK beer on tap. They have the macro’s and your larger locals. Definitely a dive bar. Didn’t have wings, didn’t feel comfortable ordering as I could see a stack of wings sitting out in the kitchen area from my seat. NO HEAT. Bundle up everyone is wearing snow hats and jackets. My toes are frozen as I type this.
They have a couple pool tables, darts, and video games shut off.
Place has promise on warmer days. Seating is not bad and they have 8 tvs.

This is a hangout for the locals. It’s a divy bar that does it just right. I’m not a huge fan of the wings, I come here regularly for ‘Taco Tuesday’ $ 3 beers and 50¢ tacos. If you do go for the wings, get the standard Buffaloes style wings, they are the best in my opinion. This place is popping and parking can take a little bit. But definitely come in and check it out.

I was not expecting Wingmasters to be as good as it was. It’s a complete dive bar in a random spot in Ballard with a cheesy name. How was I supposed to know that Wingmasters was supposed to be taken literally?
Not even kidding, these are the best wings I’ve ever had, next to B-​Dubs of course. Scratch that: they are better. Perfectly crisp, meaty wings doused in delicious sauce.
Out on a drinking romp through Ballard with friends, we stopped at Wingmasters for more adult beverages, of course, and a tasty late night snack. We ordered two varieties: Jerk rub and garlic Parmesan. Next time I would love to try their standard buffalo sauce but these two sauces were amazing! The jerk rub was zesty, fresh and spicy and the garlic Parm packed a serious garlic punch. The wings themselves were huge and perfect for dipping in lots of blue cheese.
They also have pool tables and jukeboxes if you want to get really crazy. A really fun dive with amazing wings!

The waiter was very nice. She let us sample some of the sauces since it was our first time here. I had the classic sauce which was alright. It was slightly spicy and not salty. The spicy n hot sauce is a bbq sauce with spice. The teriyaki sauce wasnt that good, it’s just a store bought sauce, nothing added.
