West Seattle Karate Academy

My son takes classes here and loves it! This is a great place for kids who need direction. Even in a class of 15 or so I feel like each kids gets personal attention. Sensi Kris does not let «challenging» behavior slide and the kids have great respect for him. His classes are engaging and he is very knowledgeable while still being entertaining and funny, not easy with younger kids. He is a great teacher. Highly recommended!

I relocated to Washington a few years ago and as a lifelong martial artist had to find a new Sensei to train under. After doing some research I came across Sensei Wilder at the West Seattle Karate Academy. I was very happy to learn from a phenomenal instructor who was able to not only meet but far exceed my expectations. I happily travel from the east side to train under Sensei Wilder. Not only is he an excellent martial artist he has obviously taken a great deal of time learning how to teach his art in clear, concise and highly effective manner. As an instructor I feel he has not only helped me as a Karate Ka but, also helped me become a more effective teacher. I highly recommend West Seattle Karate Academy and am very grateful to get to learn from Sensei Wilder.

Sensei Chris is amazing with kids. He is a wonderful teacher, makes karate really fun, but serious, commanding respect I only wish I could get from my 5 and 7 year olds. He also integrates lot of safety lessons into his classes. My kids totally know what to do when a stranger approaches. And they have a great time and love karate!

I joined this Dojo a couple years ago and I for one have learned an incredible amount in the classic art of Goju Rju. Kris Wilder the sensei/​owner is a one of kind. Not only is he a very high ranking sensei, he also really understands what it takes to help you get to the next level. I highly recommend the West Seattle Karate Dojo; not only for the self defense part but for the other things you gain in being there.

Both of my kids take Karate with Kris –they love it. Kris has a great approach with the kids. He teaches them in a way that they can understand the elements and have fun. Not only does Kris teach Karate, he also teaches the kids life lessons and gives them encouragement and confidence in themselves.

Two of my children have taken karate with Kris — and they love every minute. When we drive by West Seattle Karate — they are bound to ask each time if this is the day they go to the dojo. Kris has a wonderful approach and makes the elements of this martial art easy to understand. He is firm and yet kind with the kids — I cannot recommend this school enough. One more thing — the movie nights in the dojo are always fun — so make sure to put them on your calendar.
