Really good spot for a low key meal. It felt homey and comfortable. Me & my sister visited after some wine tasting at the tasting room. Food was decent & service was awesome. Wait staff was friendly and remember you.

Excellent food and cool environment. Definitely under rated. Be sure to check it out for happy hour specials. The crab cakes and muscles are excellent! Good beer, wine and spirits selection. Great service

Northwest French style Bistro. I can’t think of a place more homey and kind, if I can say so, than this one. First came here back in 2008 just for a cup of tea and some snacks — keep on coming back every time when in Seattle. Situated in downtown, 3 min walk for the Pike Place Market and beautiful bay. It’s small and very cozy inside — booths or tables and outside patio in summer. Tiny rose on each table — seat yourself where you like. And dimmed light at night with candles on the tables. It’s on the hill, so if you sit at the window and look out of it seems that the ground is inclining and leaning like you can roll down. As for me — the best time for stop there is lunch time, though for a light dinner it’s not bad either. I love their mussels and smoked salmon… Quiche du Jour is amazing. Sandwiches or burgers. Wine list is more than simple, but you’ll find what you want eventually or some other drink, they have full bar. Desserts are amazing — carrot cake or a cheese cake with a glass of port. Always attentive, complaisant and alive servers. Feels like you’re in the 90s or in a movie of that era, «I thought that such kind of life has vanished from earth, but it’s still there»…

Reasonably good. Very expensive. Not particularly good value in my opinion — was very underwhelmed. But to be fair, I don’t usually like French charcuterie based cuisines unless I’m in France, ’cause well, we just can’t get it done right here in America. Call me a food snob, but yeah. For the price you paid, it’s just very mediocre. I would not recommend it.

A nice venue in a great location that will lure you in with its charm. The menu has an good variety and the food is generally good though some items miss the mark. In my experience some of their soups lack depth and flavor, their salads need an extra touch, and their small plates need some pizzazz. This service can also be hit or miss. It’s almost always friendly but they seem be be pretty slow from time to time.

Don’t let the small menu and plain outlook fool you. A great place to chill, good drinks menu and great food! We tried the Reuben Sandwich and the gumbo. The Reuben is excellent and fresh and hot — great for a rainy and cold day! The gumbo though looked plain was great — very well done with a lot of stuff inside. You can add some Frank’s red hot sauce if you need more kick — definitely gonna come again! Service is ok too.

Sorry, but no. Just don’t. We came during their ‘Happy hour’ and all their apps were half off but the food was cold, everything was super salty, and the three of us who ate here all got sick shortly afterwards. There’s WAY better food to be had in Seattle; go elsewhere.

There is nothing fancy about this place. It is not hipster, it is not dive-y, it is not trendy. Everything you want a classic happy hour to be. Which just means it’s a perfect stop for an after-work drink. The good ol’ V.I.

I came here for a late lunch /early dinner. It wasn’t very crowded(it was around 3:45pm) & we didn’t have any trouble getting a nice seat outside. It’s one of those places who have different menus for different times of the day, which I’m not a huge fan of. At the time we were there, we could only choose from the«small plates» menu. It was a bummer because we were wanting more food than that, but we made it work. I got the mussels, my boyfriend got a crab cake. Both were so delicious. I got a good amount of mussels for a small plate, but my boyfriend got a single crab cake & he was definitely wanting more. But each small plate cost $ 10+ so it wasn’t really cost efficient for what we were wanting to do. So any FYI for everyone else — the«small plates» menu becomes available at 4pm, the dinner menu at 5pm. They have a pretty good happy hour as well, I think it was 50% off your bill.

One dish stood out tonight. The duck confit. It was cooked perfectly and the leeks complimented it wonderfully. Nice wait staff and reasonable time from order to food. A nice dining experience for sure. I definitely recommend the Virginia Inn.

Stopped in late on a Saturday night. Very few restaurants stay open in the downtown area that are outside of the market. Windows were open with very few people inside. Took a chance and were pleasantly surprised. Might have just been an off time. Nothing on the menu will blow you away, since most items are quite traditional, but everything was well made. We had fish and chips(awesome) and the Tuna Nicoise Salad. Salad was refreshing! Fish and chips were very good including the seasoned batter and tartar. Our bartender/server was really nice and didn’t balk at us only wanting to «share» a beer!

We had a delicious lunch here. Our local friend recommended it but said«it’s a little frou-frou,» which it kinda is. But the food really was great. Perfect portion, but definitely $$.

Historic restaurant in Seattle. Really good food/drinks. Salad Nicoise was so delicious but everything here is good. I would be in heaven living in Seattle with all of the fresh seafood and amazing produce. Eat here for good food.

What a jewel and why isn’t this place packed? Attentive service and everything we had was expertly prepared. The pricing is very reasonable. We sat at a beautiful wooden booth but there is outdoor seating as well. The mussels were succulent with a wonderful broth & served with great bread. The Ramps & Fiddlehead Risotto was a taste of pure spring and the Roasted Red Pepper & Tomato Soup was smokey and flavorful & not overly acidic as many tomato soups are. Looking for a fabulous bargain? Come at happy hour for ½ price small plates &2 featured wines by the glass.

Virginia Inn has a great menu and good drinks(full bar). Some items can be a little pricey, but I’ve never been disappointed. Plenty of seating for small or large groups. Outdoor seating, when the weather is nice, too!

Solid 4 stars! I had the butter lettuce salad with pears, manchego and walnuts with grilled salmon on top, and my husband had the moules frites. Both of our dishes were very tasty. My salad had the perfect amount of dressing and perfect amount of seasoning on the salmon. Hubs said his moules frites were very good. Service staff is very nice, and accommodating with our questions and checks in often enough, but not too often. It’s a fine balance. ;) I’ve been here several times and not been disappointed yet. If I had to make any suggestions, I’d say perhaps a bit more variety on the menu, and perhaps the bread could be warm when it’s brought out, but… meh…that won’t stop me from coming back.

Situated at the crest of First Ave, the V.I. has long a history. A friendly and eclectic watering hole that combines French café and English pub styles. It features Northwest microbrews and local artists. Nothing special about the interior but I do enjoy a brick wall interior. There was a lot of nice artwork on the walls by a local artist. I love supporting that and seeing local establishments giving free gallery. The V. I is a part of the 1st Thursday art walk and has openings for the artists from 5−8pm. There’s a nice lunch menu and I immediately honed in on the Nicoise salad, a Virginia Inn favorite. Seared tuna, haricots verts, potatoes, cherry tomatoes and Niçoise olives. Then I was going, what the hell is haricots verts and then I read it’s french for green beans. Also included on the plate was a quartered hard boiled egg. This is a great little go to for an informal lunch and worth a try.

Good food but slow on service considering how we sat down and we were given water and told our water would be with us in a couple minutes… However 15 minutes later we were sitting there waiting to order our drinks. Eventually we had to ask the person refilling our water if we could order and then after we got our drinks we had to again wait and ask for our waiter to order food. This place I would maybe come back to … Maybe not

My friend and I wandered in here for happy hour and it was A-Ok. We sat outside which was a nice option– the inside wasn’t particularly exciting looking. I had a glass of wine and shared the marinated vegetables, crab cakes and mussels. Everything tasted ok but nothing stood out. I would probably say the vegetables was the strongest dish and came with a nice dressing. The service here was good. I’d come back if someone else suggested it. A-ok!
