Varnish Salon

Does anyone know what is going on with this salon? Their number is disconnected, and their website scheduling module has been disabled. Are they closing?

Been seeing Audrey for a year and I couldn’t be happier! Every time I leave, I feel better than when I came in! Thanks, Audrey!!!

Tiffany is a rockstar. She’ll do whatever weirdo haircut I ask for and make it look great. Been going here for 2 years and don’t know what I’d do without Tiffany!

This is review is about Audrey. I’ve been in the Seattle area almost 9 years and drift from one hairstylist to another.
She’s the the kind of stylist I am comfortable with saying «just cut it, do what you think is good». She does do a scary lot of layers, but, it defeats that mushroom head that’s so annoying. She has an awesome, comfortable, personality, so nice.
Since she started cutting my hair, I hardly get the frizzlies and I think that’s magic, I don’t know how a haircut would do that.
And I get lots of compliments, from all kinds of people, even the guys installing our kitchen cabinets!!! Including my dear husband and family and coworkers.

I went to go see Audrey because of all the great reviews about her. Unfortunately I didn’t get what I asked for. I have dark brown hair and wanted to lighten it up with caramel highlights with the balayage ombré technique and only foils were used. My hair isn’t as light as I was hoping for despite all the photos I provided. Also I needed a hair cut and she put way too short of layers in my hair. It looked decent when I left and then when I flat ironed it the next day noticed how hacked up it was. Biotin here I come. Figured if I went to a higher end salon my results would be on point, not the case. Spent over 200 dollars for poor results. My search continues for my go to hair stylist…

What can I say? Sarah saved the day. Color correction on my 16 year old (I am a client as well) went so well it was amazing. I will forever be grateful. Thank you so much for your time and patience!

Audrey is a natural! The absolute best. She has been doing my hair for 8 years, and it has never looked better– I always leave feeling great. Better still, I keep feeling that way because her cuts are easy to do myself and they grow out super well. I always get so many compliments :) She is an excellent listener, and she has that rare ability to make helpful suggestions that keep my cut and color on trend, but in keeping with my age and style. Bonus: She is really super fun! Go now. Really.

I go to Audrey and am VERY pleased with her.
Pros: Very friendly and professional. Great at matching what I ask/​show in a picture. Consistent color. As a blonde I haven’t had any orange, ashy, or dull coloring. I am able to extend my time between coloring because she does a great job of blending. Easy to schedule– evening time slots and doesn’t require booking way in advance. The staff is friendly overall.
I haven’t had a bad experience yet. I feel very comfortable recommending her.

Let me start by saying that calling me picky about my hair color would be an understatement. Audrey always gets it right!
She has an amazing bubbly personality that makes the time fly!
She is extremely creative, trendy (without letting me do anything I may regret) and thoughtful when it comes to styling. She does a beautiful balayage and wonderful layers. No matter if I go darker or lighter I frequently receive compliments on my hair.
I have sent my best friend and my mom to see her, one who has fine light hair and the other has thick dark hair and she does a wonderful job on both of them proving that she is extremely versatile!

I just had my hair cut and colored by Summer (Hair by Summer) and she is absolutely amazing at what she does! Varnish is a great salon, it’s very comfortable and cute and parking is easy (and free!) which is always a plus in the city! Summer spent hours doing a color correction on my super fried, platinum hair when I decided to go violet/​brown, and it couldn’t have turned out better! She took extra steps to make sure the color turned out even and that it wouldn’t fade and I walked out of there with the most gorgeous, shiny color I’ve had in years! I have had just about every color you can think of and my hair has a serious issue with keeping color, it always seems to fade out after the first wash. The color line Summer uses is amazing and looks great even after multiple washes. I have really thick, coarse hair that ends up being every hairstylists worst nightmare, but Summer knows exactly how to work with it and gives me lots of great tips on things I can be doing at home to keep it looking and feeling healthy. She also knows how to cut/​thin my hair the right way which is not easy due to my hair type. I have had many awful haircuts over the years but Summer got it right the first try! So grateful I finally got in her chair and let her work her magic on me. Thank you Summer :)

Varnish is such a cute, on-​trend salon. Great area with ample street parking. I’ve followed my stylist, Summer, here from another salon and I’m so happy I did. It’s a clean salon full of friendly people. Plus I would never let another soul touch my mixed-​chick curls! I love the way Summer cuts my hair and, for 7 straight years she’s been able to keep up with every changing whim I’ve had about my hair color: I always look fantastic walking out of Varnish. :-)

If you need someone who is good with short hair Audrey at Varnish is great. I would recommend her to anyone. She is very upbeat and makes you feel great about yourself. My hair is turning gray and she has not pressured me to color it like a lot of folks at salons do. She is really good a listening and takes time to understand each person’s hair. She takes her craft quite seriously which is great to be around. The salon has a very friendly feel to it and I love going to the Phinney neighborhood — lots of nice shops to wonder through if you are a bit early or want to show off your new hair cut and meet friends for lunch/​dinner afterwards.

Simply put, Audrey has an amazing talent. I love changing up my style & i appreciate that she is always willing to try new things, as well as tell me when something wont work quite how i envision it. I feel very fortunate to have so much trust in my stylist.

I called and left a voicemail and 24 hours later still have not heard from anyone. No one answers the phone, you are forced to leave a message for a nail appointment. I guess we are going to Savvy Nails.

What a great experience! I instantly felt at home in Audrey Ferrin’s chair. Not only is she a fabulous stylist but also a great person.
I went in for the first time and usually don’t trust someone to do something elaborate on the first meeting but went for it. Audrey gave me gorgeous bayalage-​style highlights, and I left feeling gorgeous. I showed her pictures upon arrival, she gave me her advice, listened to what I had to say, handed me a glass of wine and gave me exactly what I wanted! I tried to get this look once before at another salon and left disappointed. Audrey nailed it! I will be back!

Audrey is the answer to all your hair dreams. She is a super talented and experienced stylist, who will take the time to listen to your goals for your hair and create a plan to achieve them. The salon itself is large, clean and stylish. Love it! Highly recommend.

Tiffany forever! If this place wasn’t right up the street from my house, I’d trek across town to see her. She just gets my hair. It’s fine but thick and when I wear it long a lot of stylists thin it out to the point where it’s wispy, which I hate. She layers it so it’s full enough for a ponytail, but structured enough so I don’t end up with heavy, knotted hair. And she offers free bang trims with a cut!
I don’t have a big beauty budget, but every few months, I splurge on sun-​kissed highlights. Tiffany does them with a subtle balayage effect so I can touch up my own roots and the color grows out gorgeously. They look so natural and instantly make me feel brighter!

I am very picky with who colors and cuts my hair because I have very thick and coarse hair, I’m Asian-​American. I’ve been coloring my hair at home for several years now, and the color turned out to be this gorgeous red hair! Maintaining red hair is very demanding and I just got sick and tired of ruining my hair every so often that I wanted to do something low maintenance.
After searching online via Unilocal and through friends, I found reviews for this place. I called, made an appointment and it was with Sarah (?) she had gotten close to my natural hair color, dark brown/​black, and I had red tips, aka ombré. I loved it! But unfortunately she left in late April, right before my Australia trip, and I asked for Anna.
Anna is amazing! I love her, she explained what she envisioned for my hair, and well I went with it! Finally, we got most of the red out; after a 3^rd trip to the salon. The ombré I have now has hints of red all over, like it was purposely put there. Anna knew what she was doing; coloring especially, telling me she wanted to ombré around my bangs to give it dimensions. I know that if you just leave your bangs along it doesn’t blend as well with your ombré, I was all for it. All in all, a great salon!

This review is seriously overdue. I’ve been going to Varnish since last fall, and I owe them a stellar review, plus a lot of gratitude.
I came to Varnish after getting weary of my hipster, kinda trendy haircuts, and really wanting to do something different with my hair. I warned them from the get-​go — I have «difficult hair.» Everyone says that, right? Nope, I’ve almost made stylists cry. Color doesn’t take, it’s a weird combination of fine and thick and super wavy. But not to worry, when Tiffany and Anna are there to help out.
In the last couple of months — leading up to my wedding two weeks ago — I decided I wanted to get rid of the dark, dark dye job that had been on my naturally light hair for years, and grow out the hipster cut. Every cut with Tiffany was right-​on, and she and Anna walked me through the arduous process of getting back to blond.
I decided to have Varnish do my wedding hair style, and it turned out perfectly. A week and a half before the wedding, Anna managed to take my half grown-​out dark hair, and turn it into a beautiful, natural color with gorgeous highlights. I cannot tell you how many compliments I received, and I absolutely loved the way I looked on my wedding day.
I’ll trust my difficult head of hair to these ladies, any day!
