U-Frame It

I have worked with Marc at U Frame It for 9 years. I am an artist and I require that my drawings and paintings on paper and canvas have a professional presentation. I have never been disappointed. My experience has always been collaborative, educational, and fun. For example, Marc has helped me to select the correct mat for each work on paper, which is no small feat given the plethora of subtle color and texture differences among the options available. I have also asked Marc to stretch my painted, mixed media canvases on stretcher bars that I provide. I have benefited from his advice about selecting wood and/​or metal frames, and using spacers for my heavily textured paintings. When a bit of charcoal dust from one of my framed drawings fell on the mat, Marc cleaned this up and added an extra spacer so any further dust would fall behind the mat. Over the years, I have relied on Marc to give me good advice; create a professional, exhibition-​ready presentation for my art work; and maintain a collaborative partnership with me as I experiment and grow as an artist.

So we had every intention of putting sweet stuff on our walls when we moved into a new place two years ago. A generous relative gifted us $ 60 worth of framing services from U-​Frame-​It for the holidays in 2010, but we never got around to redeeming the thing, and here we are about to move away from the PNW. I called yesterday to see what kind of frames they had in stock, assuming there wouldn’t be time to have something custom-​made before we take off in a few days.
David (?) was immediately helpful and understanding of our predicament, explaining that most of their smaller, pre-​made frames run $ 10-​$ 20 and that maybe I could find a few of those to use in the future. I stopped in a few hours later with a couple photos in tow, found a sweet little frame ($ 7.88) to fit a snapshot of my grandmother, and ended up getting it beautifully matted and finished with glass and a wire hanging, all within 45 minutes, for like $ 30 total. I was even able to convince another customer to take the remainder of the gift certificate so it wouldn’t go to waste. Truly satisfying experience and charming, attentive service!

Dealing with the owner and his one employee was extremely uncomfortable. I spent quite a bit of money there and they treated me as if I were a yuppie. They tried to nickle-​and-​dime me to the very end of the process. It was like they didn’t want to be bothered.

Five stars to the U-​Frame It crew who ALWAYS donate generously to our school fund raising events. Helpful and friendly. Parking can be tricky during busy hours but sometimes you might catch someone working in there before/​after hours who will let you get what you need! Thanks U-​FRAME IT!
