Came here for the $ 5 old fashioned special they have on Mondays. What an awesome deal. I really liked the laid back atmosphere of this bar. They have a huge selection of whiskeys as well.

After reading some of the reviews for Tommy Gun I knew I would have to write one myself. I came here recently with my husband and had a really great experience. We got there just as soon as happy hour started on a Saturday night, so there was only one other couple in the bar. There was only one bartender working, but as it began to get later and the place started to fill up, our bartender was running around making sure everyone was taken care of. Tommy Gun makes their own ginger beer and they have a wide variety of whiskeys that they use to make their craft cocktails. Even though our bartender was running around, he still took the time to talk with us and give us a bunch of samples of things we have never tried or heard of before. He took the time to explain each drink AND he waited until we took a sip of each one to make sure it was to our liking. My only regret was that I did not get his name so I could give him a shout out about his excellent customer service. This bar is a great space with soft lighting, good music and knowledgeable staff. Tommy Gun will be a bar that I frequent.

Tommy Gun is a wonderful neighborhood bar, with good beers on tap, and great food. It’s a small spot with a very pleasant atmosphere. The prices, expecially during Happy Hour, are great. I’m a big fan of their Reubens. The cocktails are also well made by the very competent and friendly bartender. It’s a really good spot to chill and have a drink.

Usually I’m not up for paying $ 8 – 11 for a drink but it is clear that they are well made with good ingredients — strong enough to feel the liquor without the overwhelming taste of alcohol. The food was also a little on the pricey side but everyone enjoyed what they ordered(grilled cheese, pretzel, truffle popcorn). The bartender was super nice and didn’t mind taking a little time to suggest drinks or experiment with the menu. I would definitely return.

I believe ya, but my tommy gun don’t. It’s a Hidden gem Jonathan behind the bar has a class A pallet and will whip you up something delicious if you just give him a base spirit.

Food was ok but the bartender and the service was lame. Very cold people and tHe bartender started yelling and cursing because I mistakenly stepped a little on the side of the bar to tell him to add a few more drinks on my tap. Really awful service. Would never go back.

Awesome place. It had been years since I’ve actually had a sandwich that I could eat with my hands. The beer list is good, the food is high quality, the space is really pleasant. .. if you don’t care about organic or gluten free, then this is a five star place. Really very very very good.

Tommy Gun is a place you might miss walking down the street. Go in and check it out. Super cool wrapping bar. Bartenders have always been friendly and knowledgeable. And the sandwiches are killer to boot.

This place is SUPER cute, and I really like the setup… But avoid the bartender with a pompadour… I’ve been here twice and had TERRIBLE experiences with him. Too bad, I live nearby and would probably come here more often if it weren’t for him,(now I just go to the Hillside). Recently I came in and he wasn’t there, however the young lady working was very rude to my friends and we had yet another negative experience. I’m beginning to take it personally considering that I always try to be super nice(as you should be to your bartenders since they’re making your drinks). Especially when I notice that the regulars are being treated so kindly. Regular or not, a grey goose martini is still about $ 12 – 14, so I expect to be treated OK at the very least. Suffice it to say, it’s the last time we will coming here.

Cocktails and Camaraderie. What else could you ask for in your life? Chill, yet active bartender. Somewhat miscellaneous booze and rustic bougie décor. Good times will be had on Fernet Mondays. It’s only the beginning of our friendship Tommy Gun.

Just came in for a drink on Thanksgiving eve and ended up being introduced to a new Oola gin aged in whiskey barrels. Jonathan, the bartender made a delicious negroni with it, and entered us into a raffle contest. I ended up winning two Odin pint glasses from a local brewery. I appreciate the fact that they are working to promote local distilleries and breweries, and will definitely be back!

Honkers Ale on tap! Tommy Gun gets 5 stars for the Honkers Ale. Also, since I first reviewed it many moons ago, I’ve stopped in a few times with friends and the bartenders have been friendly and it has been busier – in a good way. Anybody who likes whiskey should stop in and check out the menu… the décor and atmosphere inside is perfect for sipping brown booze, plus they have a huge menu of whiskeys to choose from. I, however, will be back for the Honkers Ale.

*tat tat tat* It’s Tommy Gun! Shooting shots of cheap drinks down your throat. The bartenders here are really nice and the truffle popcorn’s pretty good for a snack. I had a fernet here because they were advertising it outside and it wasn’t bad, but not really something I’d order regularly. But kind of nice of them to get me trying something new! Attended the 2 year birthday too, should have stayed longer to make full use of their $ 3.50 well drinks they had at the time. Great spot for drinks and a casual atmosphere.

I just spotted on Facebook that Tommy Gun is celebrating their 2 year birthday this coming Friday. Time sure flies! And now that I’m realizing it’s been so long since my first review, I thought I’d write a new one. Why? Because this place still rocks my socks! First — They’re all over social media. Why? Because more than just a cute, cozy neighborhood watering hole, TG also hosts fun and creative events. Just like anyone that loves you should, Tommy Gun keeps it interesting by spicing things up from time to time. Special happy hour deals, Whisk(e)y Wednesdays, birthday parties, holiday events, and more. I really appreciate hearing about their events either through FB or via the Unilocal Events Pages. But even without special occasions to celebrate here, Tommy Gun is just an all around great bar. In fact, when I think about what they do right, one word comes to mind. CONSISTENCY. In two years any bar(in any city) would see some menu and staff changes, but the owners and managers of this bar are really on top of it. Whatever the changes are, they’re subtle, they’re with purpose, and the outcome is always great. Right now there’s a guy named Andrew behind the stick a few nights a week and not only is he a total hoot, he can mix up a mean drink to boot.(Hey, that rhymed!) Anyway — if you want good drinks and a good atmosphere for good prices, come here and hang out with good people. It’ll be good for ya, I promise!

All I was looking for was a bar close by Broadway that was relaxed and not a dive. Success! Tommy gun makes you feel like you are in modernized western saloon. The wood covered walls and cowboy decorations and dart boards allows for a casual escape from the hipster and grunge surroundings of Capitol Hill. Pros: Good location. Nice set up to be either in a booth, table, or bar that accommodates either groups or independents. The staff comes right to your table and is very kind and helpful. Cons: Small room. Though I went on a weeknight I can easily imagine this bar being over crowded and uncomfortable on a weekend. Not looking for much, just an easy night with good drinks in a casual clean bar? Here it is.

WHISKEYWEDNESDAYS! My head almost exploded last night when we took a little visit with some friends to Tommy Gun and I saw this. Whiskey Wednesday = $ 2 off cocktails and $ 1 off the rye/whiskey flight(I think) YESSSSSSSS. Tommy Gun serves delicious things such as: Mac N cheese in a cute bowl Hummus Giant pretzels with your choice of dipping sauce — sriracha aioli WHAT, as well as a yummy cheese sauce really great rye whiskey cocktails I think I heart Tommy Gun. People don’t know what they’re missing if they skip over this little gem of a bar, so be sure and visit!

Bartenders acknowledge my existence and provide order within reasonable time: check. Beer selection is good: check. Menu appears delicious, both for snacks or meals: check(did not try). Décor does not make me want to gag like TGI Friday’s: check check! Parking is available: ummm… this is in Capital Hill, so no. You should’ve taken the bus/cab/Über anyway, if you’re drinking, cowboy. Closing tabs did not take painfully long: check! er, I mean, tip! I thought my friends picked this place for birthday celebration because it was around the corner from their house, but it was definitely worth it. They provided good service on a moderately busy night(er.my group made up about 40% of the customers), were not pushy on ordering food or anything, and the drinks were all quite delicious. The vibe was also reasonably good, and the décor was a little steampunk-meets-western. Cool. I hope to show up there again sometime. It was worth the one-transfer bus ride in to town. I also did not faint when I looked at my drink receipt the next day.

So, thanks to Katy H, I just found a very cool spot that’s just a few blocks from where I live. A group of us were there to check out the happy hour menu and I for one was impressed with the selection. The sandwich I had was delicious and I know one or two others at our table had the same thing and were also raving about it. There were a couple drinks that were on special that day and there are normal happy hour drink specials as well. One of my new favorites is the PBR tall cans for $ 3.25! I’m looking forward to both trying more of their specialty drinks as well as lots of PBR in the future. The bartender that was working while we were there did a good job of balancing his time between our table and the rest of the people there. it was definitely much easier to go see him at the bar than to try and force him to come out to our table to take orders although he did take the time to come out and check on us and clear away any empty glasses or plates. I am definitely looking forward to stopping in here from time to time for a bite to eat or some tasty beverages.

I attended the CMYE at Tommy Gun. The Tommy gun is best known for being the weapon of choice of Prohibition-era gangsters, even Al Capone gunned down with it. This place wasn’t shooting blanks. This place was a chill ass spot for any of the locals wanting good food, beer, or a mix drink. The bartender was on point as can be with delivering drinks, great service, taking orders, and refilling my glass. I got the Tommy Salami with salami, pepperoni, bacon, arugula, & ranch. I also got a warm fresh pretzel with a side of spicy mustard to dip it in. The sammie was simply delicious with all the flavors blasting in my mouth like ammo… tat tat tat… tat tat tat… tat tat tat. The fresh pretzel was so amazing that I couldn’t even resist taking a bite of it before I took a picture of it. My only gripe is when I needed a take home box, they gave me a zip lock bag… I felt like I just got a dime bag or Elementary student packing my own lunch. Thanks to Katy, we got introduce to a new cool spot and Katy handed out Unilocal swag… My new Unilocal Watch! I would recommend this spot in a heartbeat.

A few weeks ago people went a bit mad for Tommy Gun, so I found myself here for gatherings two nights in a row. Both nights I got the pretzel and a Blue Moon. I wasn’t a big fan of the mustard that came with the pretzel, but the pretzel was pretty darn good, and I ended up eating some mustard both times just because pretzels are usually pretty boring on their own… The employees seemed pretty nice and happy to be there, but it felt like they’re still adjusting to how popular Tommy Gun is becoming. At one point while sitting at the bar, I noticed that a couple had been sitting at a table for quite a while, waiting for someone to come by. I let one of the bartenders know, and he made his way over the first chance he got. When I was here with a seated-at-a-table group we figured out quickly that we should order at the bar if we want quick service, but the waitress did come around every once in a while, so people could still get drinks/food without getting up.(Just not as MANY drinks… unless they got lucky with timing.) On my first visit I also sampled some cheese, meat, and salmon pâté. Those were… a’ight. Still prefer the pretzel. Looks like I’m going back again soon, so hopefully this time I’ll get out of my pretzel and Blue Moon comfort zone, and try something else. At least another beer. Also, I think I need to tell one of my friends about Fernet Monday(which apparently means: an ice cold shot of Fernet Branca and a PBR for just $ 5 from 5 to close). He loves that stuff!
