The UPS Store

I have been using this UPS store at University Village for the past several years. I sell a lot of stuff on Ebay, so some weeks I felt like I was going there every day. Some of the staff has been there for several years – as long as I have been going there. Staff has always been helpful and polite, even when I am feeling impatient or rushed. Prices have gone up lately, but for larger packages, UPS Ground is still much less expensive than sending things by US priority mail. UPS Ground takes about a week if the package is going cross country, so it’s slower than the US Mail but most of the time that is okay. Tracking on the UPS website is superior to the USPS system.

A truly infuriating experience. DO NOT USE THIS UPS STORE.
My husband and I mailed both of our passports to Washington DC to get travel visas to go to Vietnam. UPS lost our passports and our newly issued visas. While it was UPS and not this UPS Store that specifically lost our documents, the owner of this UPS Store was surly, unhelpful and rude when we opened our investigation in an attempt to recover our lost passports. When I asked him if we should keep our receipts for the ~$ 1000 in expenses that we would incur in replacing my US passport, my husband’s Canadian passport, and our travel visas, he said that UPS is not responsible for paying to replace the documents that THEY LOST. His attitude was «UPS lost your passports and visas? Tough sh*t. Not our problem. You get to pay the ~$ 1000 to replace them.» After getting upset with him over the phone about this ridiculous policy, he said that he would update me daily on the investigation. I never heard from him again.
The owner of this UPS Store is a class A a*shole.
I am currently working with a customer service rep at UPS to follow up on the investigation and hopefully get reimbursed for the costs we are incurring to replace our passports and visas in a very short period of time (before our upcoming travel date).
Moving forward, we will be using FedEx Office (just down the road).

The staff was very helpful and capable!

The customer service people will not help you if you’ve sent a package with ups. The lady told me that they are not ups so they can’t help me with my package sent threw ups. But ups is on their sign and on their shirts. They take your money for ups and after that you are sol. Also if you have a problem the cust service people are very sort and won’t listen to you before giving you a 1−800# (and the wrong one I might add.)
I virtually never give a bad review unless i think that the service is sooooo bad that they will cause a lot of damage. I’m posting this only because I really don’t want to see other people go threw what I have. It’s BAD.
Seriously don’t even bother.
Sending mail with them is 3 times more expensive than with the usps. I sent some packages, last minute, last Xmas and the postage ended up costing me more than what I had paid for the gifts AND it took a lot longer!
Who do these people think they are?!?

Because if they aren’t ups and they can’t help me with my lost ups package, but they advertise ups for their name than who he hell are they? What use do they have other than charging you to give your mail to usps or the ups?

I was in the neighborhood and thought I would drop off a package that I had been meaning to mail. I really wish I would have checked Unilocal before I bothered going there. Fail. They charge $ 1 just to tape your box. Lame!!! I ship from other UPS stores all over the city and usually have great service. They will be getting my business instead. Needless to say, I will not be back to this location.

This UPS store is run terribly! The customer service did’nt seem bad in store, but it turned out it was. Their poorly trained staff did not inform me nor did they give me the option of paying a $ 155 dollar COD international duty on the package that cost $ 25 to ship. Now I understand that people forget thing like this sometimes but the way I was treated when trying to figure out the solution was unexecptable. I was told I’d recieve a call from their manager in a few hours… did’nt happen. I called back and finally got to the manager who litterally laughed and said it was’nt his problem and they could’nt do anything about it. It was a business need that I was using them for, I sure wont be going back. Stick with Fed Ex or USPS. Other UPS’s may be OK but I’d rather walk my next package than deal with this group again. UPS should be ashamed to put their name on this location.

This is a rampantly profiteering branch location with an incredibly horrible owner. As you may know, UPS stores are franchise locations. They use the UPS brand, but are owned by their private owners.
Well, this UPS store owner has decided that he would profit off EVERYTHING.
Helping you tape a box costs a dollar. If you thought that you could just use one of their open-​to-​the-​public computers were with no fee sign on them to look up an address — ha! Think again. When you finish using the computer you will be told that there’s a $ 2.50 cost for using them.
Every UPS store is different, but I will specifically go out of my way to not line the pockets of the owner of this location.

We have used this UPS store for many many years and never had complaints. Until now that is. Recently we shipped many boxes to another state. Very expensive, but it seemed worth it. There was a problem with one box.
Well, stuff happens, so we went back to the UPS store to resolve the problem. This is where the real problems began. The young clerk was rude, told us it was our fault, maintained an extremely arrogant tone, took a «the customer is always wrong» position. He kept saying, «no, you are wrong.» When we asked to speak with his manager he insisted he didn’t have one. When we asked to speak with the owner he said he was the owner. Really?
This clerk was evasive, unhelpful, extremely rude, and didn’t care at all about the situation. We called UPS headquarters, and the nice person on the phone resolved the problem immediately.
This particular UPS store is one to avoid!

Courteous and quick notary services, though not cheap at $ 10 per document. No wait at 1:00pm on a Tuesday.

The employee was pleasant and helpful. Unfortunately she was bound by the store owners policy. I rerouted an envelope because my office was closed. I didn’t pick it up right away and found out the owner chooses to charge $ 5 per day to hold the letter. Good thing I didn’t wait a week to pick it up. In my opinion that is crazy, charging to hold a letter at a UPS store. I mean, heck they got their money when the sender paid to ship it. I asked who the owner was. I was told he only goes by Jimmy. He doesn’t allow a last name to be given. Wow, UPS Jimmy extorts money from customers by holding their packages ransom unless they come up with the dough. I’m not sure if this is more closely resembles a tow lot, or Jimmy’s own little Italy. Anyway, happy holidays Jimmy, I’m sure it will be profitable for you.
By the way, just down the street, FEDEX Kinkos does not charge, to have a package redirected there, they ship, and provide boxes at a much much less charge. They are also super friendly and helpful.
My two stars was earned by the poor employee who had to enforce Jimmy’s will. Jimmy doesn’t deserve stars. No stars for you Jimmy.

Meets my needs — has consistent hours (& long hours and open 7days/​wk) unlike my previous experience at another location and the staff here are usually very friendly and quick. Sufficient parking although could be really crowded at times — but it’s U-​Village, expected.
I use them mainly for receiving packages — cos some doucebags have stolen off of my porch before — they notify you by email when you get packages and even just regular old mail and there aren’t any extra fees if you can’t pick up your packages right away.

I had never come here before today. Usually I’ve just gone to the FedEx place a couple blocks down on 45^th. But I had two pre-​paid packages to return, and they happened to be UPS slips, so I dropped in. Turns out they want $ 1 per package just to TAPE them.
$ 1 FOR ONE STRIP OF TAPE!
At the FedEx down the street, they just have tape out for anyone to use. They don’t care how many packages you’re shipping: You’re shipping with FedEx, so it’s a win/​win. I guess UPS just doesn’t have that kind of higher-​level thinking.
I will not be back.

Great place to rent a box for receiving packages, and you can almost always find a parking space in their little lot connected to 25^th Ave NE. As with other pack-​n-​ship places, not the cheapest way to send a package, but they are helpful, have all the right packing materials, and take the prepaid UPS packages as well (USPS, too, I think).
They’re open until 8PM on weekdays, and during the day on Sat and Sun, which is often more convenient for me.

They were friendly and quickly printed up receipts for my prepaid sales returns. Not much more I could ask for. I didn’t have to do anything complicated.
Also, I kinda love this location. I can stop by on my way to U Village w/​o dealing with the horrible U Village parking lot. :)
