Stay away from Sound Asylum or Greg. They are not trustworthy people. Rented a sound space from the company and he would not return security deposit. Too bad that there are people who will lie and steal your money.

So this place closed down with little to no warning. I would avoid Greg(the guy that owns/runs this place). He is being super slippery about giving our deposit back, and basically wrote us an email saying he plans on opening a new biz venture, and our deposit is less important than that is for him right now. In other words, he’s using our deposit for his new biz venture

It was a great space to rehearse for the few months that we were there. Sadly we were informed that the place is closing down /landlord leasing issues. Cool group of bands in our part of the building. We miss it already. We really wanted to stay here. The parking sucked, security, and load in /out sucked. This is the case with alot of spaces. It was still one of the best places I’ve had in Seattle. RIP — 1107 Elliot. Word on the street is that they will rebuild elewhere and be ready by the summer.

I’m a little sad. Stay Tuned started rehearsing at Studio Seven almost 10 years ago now. We were the second band in, after MTF, and they were still building the place around us. I wound up building their website and becoming pretty good friends with the owners. Alas, after almost a decade, financial issues forced me to cut having a dedicated rehearsal space. As much as I’ll miss Studio Seven, we had to leave. Stay Tuned’s new drummer, John, plays with a couple other bands who share a space here at Sound Asylum. For a drastically reduced monthly cost(sharing a space with 2 – 3 other bands will do that), we moved in. We’ve been here a couple weeks, and I like the place! There’s a Starbucks across the road with a drive-thru, meaning I can get a bit of caffeine to loosen up the vocal chords pre-practice. The space is an old warehouse full of rooms, and the padding between the rooms is pretty good – we can hear other bands when we’re talking, but once we start playing it’s pretty quiet. The room is big, and tall. There’s shelving built in to store gear. Outer doors are pretty well secured. And the two visits I’ve made to the bathroom have impressed me at their relative cleanliness-musicians don’t seem to have a lot of respect for bathrooms, and so far I haven’t wanted to puke when I enter into this one. So, though it feels like the end of an era having left Studio Seven, this new band practice studio space will do nicely.
