Great burgers, and the seasoned fries are GREAT. They have a great staff and the customers are all very friendly. Yes they have pull tabs for those who like to participate in a little gambling venture. Lots of big screen TV’s, pinball etc. It is located on the West side of «Ballard, a sleepy little drinking village with a Condo problem.» Just beer, wine and cider, no hard liquor.

Went back to Sloop to give it another chance. Got to thinking about my bad review regarding bartender Cindy some months ago… thought she just may have had a bad day when I was in. Nope! I was right the first time! Won’t be back. Shame… I like everything else about this bar. Damn!

This is my new favorite bar in Seattle. It’s simple and unpretentious, a rare find in the surrounding neighborhood of Ballard. The food is some of the best I’ve ever had at a dive bar. I really like the club sandwich, fries, and of course the burger. Although they don’t have liquor, there are still some good(and cheap) cider and wine options for those that don’t like beer. This definitely seems like the type of place that is welcoming to regulars and newcomers alike!

Classic Seattle bar. Nothing fancy, just friendly folks and amazing cheeseburgers(and fries). 2 pool tables, darts, Buck Hunter, Golden Tee… All the essentials and a down to earth vibe. Locally famous«Slooper Size» monster beers and ciders. 5 stars.

Place was alright, bartender was an asshole, the skinny one with the glasses. And the jukebox doesn’t work, but it still takes your money

If there is one thing in the world that I love, it is a good dive bar. As I was cruising in Ballard my eye was instantly attracted to this little joint. My small little group agreed we should hit up this spot after lunch. If I could box this bar up and take it with me, I would! I loved this place! My friend told me we had to get the«Slooper.» Sign this girl up! If you want to know what that is… You should probably put this place on your list to visit. This spot has a ton of personality and the people were very friendly. We got the corner booth right by the bar, aka the rock star booth!

Never going in there again. My wife and I walked in after climbing at the gym across the street and sat down at a booth and began to look at the food menu. The bartender came over and asked us for our IDs. Mine is a WA license but my wife’s is out of state. He returned our IDs and seemed like he was going to take our order but then walked away and said very loudly«You can order at the bar!» as if we were completely out of line in assuming we could order at our booth(mind you, he walked over on his own accord, not asked to by us). He then slammed some things on the bar and yelled«better yet, sit at the bar!» We walked out. There is just no reason to treat customers that way.

I came in to this bar with my boyfriend last week and ended up leaving unhappy. The food and drinks were good but the service was not. We, unfortunately, got a waitress who was completely rude and inappropriate the entire time we were there… I don’t have the cleanest mouth myself but hers was one of the worst I’ve heard! Normally I wouldn’t care but I found it absolutely unprofessional, inappropriate and of bad taste coming from an employee. We ended up leaving early and will not be returning because of her. Not sure on the name but she was an older, unpleasant blonde.

Good ol homey dive bar. Lots of games to play including darts and big buck hunter. We got wings to munch on which were pretty good and had a good time with the bartenders. Fun place!

One of the few remaining old school dive bars in Ballard; enjoy it before it’s gone. Slooper size? Yes please! Walking distance? Hell yes! There will be a new customer base starting on the 9th; the Sloop will need to get Steel Reserve on tap, Slooper size that!

Came here after work because we heard about the«supersize» beers! Well, they were huge! But then again, I am kinda on the shorter/petite side so maybe it’s normal for a normal size person, but anyways… This is a really cool bar! Tuesdays are free pool days, although I myself didn’t play. PLUS they have some arcade games, which are always fun after a beer or two! There was plenty of room to sit and the staff were pretty friendly. Needless to say, I will be back. Until next time Sloop Tavern!

Longtime local watering hole. The Sloop Tavern is famous for their«slupersize» beers. Any beer on tap can be «sloopersized» if you ask for it nicely. The beer comes in a monster 33oz chilled mug. Billiards is great fun & there is always lots of room to sit and chat with friends. The chicken strips are all pretty tasty. Located off the beaten path, as far as new ballard is concerned. I love the place and have hosted many gathering there. Cheers!

Great place to pop in for an afternoon snack after we spent a couple hours wandering around the Ballard locks and watching the boats! We had about 4 hours to go before dinner, so our party of four split an order of Slooper nachos, cream cheese jalapeño poppers and a club sandwich. The club sandwich was cute because the waiter had it plated in fourths after we mentioned just once that we were going to share the food. Nice attention to detail! Although the food wasn’t really my fav(I’m just not a fan of jalapeños,) the guys gobbled it up quick! The table next to us had the famed 32oz beers that looked impressive. The turkey club was good, nice amount of meat, thick carved cut style. Since they plated the ¼ sandwich for each of us separately, the pickle on the side was also cut into fourths! lol! Cute! Beyond this, the waiter was friendly and service was very quick. The place wasn’t too packed though it was a gorgeous sunny day and the locks were busy. All in all, nothing to really write home about, but it was convenient and tasty tiding us over until dinner. Of note: Really cool murals on the side of the building! Would be a fun picture spot!

I am so happy I found this place! Anytime I have a craving for fish & chips I know exactly where I am going to go. The fish is fresh and is fried to perfection. A ridiculous awesome cheap price for 3 fillets for $ 8.75. I can’t imagine my life without this place! BESTFISH&CHIPSEVER!!!

This blue collar place has not really changed in 15 years. The Sloop had a great cheap burger that is not so cheap anymore. Thanks Ballard!

Our company went to the Sloop after a holiday party near by around 7pm on a Thursday. We went the year before, and it was a great place for a after party for some good and fair priced beers. The second time was not a charm. Though I was excited to see the bartender sporting a Green Bay Packers T-Shirt, she didn’t represent that team nor the bar well at all. She was a complete jerk to the 25 or so people from our company that came in. This is not a rowdy bunch either. She was rude from the beginning all the way to the end. When i say rude, I mean she was not nice, never smiled and wore a scowl on her face than anything else. The bar is a dive bar, and it doesn’t try to pretend its not. So, as a dive bar, you do get the typical dive smells — old beer smell with a touch of urine. There are some pool tables and dart boards and a few other games. If you rate this bar in the dive bar category then maybe its a 3 or 4 star… if it wasn’t for the bar tender i would have rated it better. If you are not exactly into the bar scene, and because of the bartender, then its more like a 1 star. I’m giving this bar a 2 star because its not a bad dive bar, it just is when that bar tender is working there.

The little dive bar in the heart of Ballard. My mother actually meant my step dad there why she was working as a bartender probably 35 years ago. Can’t believe the place is still around. It has always been a good local watering hole. Comfortable atmosphere cheap drinks. Usually full of nice people.

Love this place! $ 5 for a slooper sized 34 oz beer! Pool, darts, pin ball, pull tabs, amazing food. Old Ballard feel and old Ballard prices. But don’t tell anyone…

I’m just coming home after having visited The Sloop, which for all intents and purposes should be my local hang out(I live in the apartment complex directly behind the pub). I sat at the bar, showed my ID to the bartender, ordered a beer, and waited. The bartender filled the orders of the people around me — no problem — and then took orders from the people who arrived after me. I waited 15 minutes, and never received my beer — it was embarrassing, as though I was being ostracized for some reason. I then walked out to the Kiss Café across the street, where I was greeted by a friendly bartender who served me within the span of 5 minutes. Perhaps The Sloop doesn’t cater to their neighbors? Either way, Kiss Café has won my patronage!

This place is great for a casual bar experience. It may not be trendy, but what it lacks in atmosphere and style it makes up for with large mugs of Seattle beer and cider, along with great service. If you want to play pool, have some chicken strips with a cider, and not worry about dressing up, The Sloop is your place.

Great little bar in the back corner of Ballard. If you’re looking for a fancy meal… do not come here. If you’re looking for a cheap meal with a beer… come here. I’ve only had the taco Tuesday, which was good. $ 6 for 3 tacos. But usually I come here for the fantastically cheap beer. SLOOPERSIZEME

This is a tavern which specializes in cold beer in giant mugs. If you are always a pretentious buttnugget about your cocktails or wine(like this total tool ex-coworker of mine) don’t show up and be rude. The staff is very nice and this is a great neighborhood tavern. There are pool tables, buck hunter, darts, food, etc. This is a great place for groups. I have been here for an engagement party, work parties, and just to have beers. Now matter how rowdy or lame the occasion this place has always been peachy ;)

The best place to spot a little russian alien! I’m there early on a weekday, writing off my laptop in a little booth by a window. A can of cider is to the right, by a piping sandwich with that famous coleslaw. I gulp, I type, I break, I bite. I talk. I grok. I repeat.

Definitely not the diviest of divest… however, tis the slooperiest of Sloops. I appreciate the deprecating bartending attitude and once my attitude came into play, they«let me into their good graces». Jukebox was great — no played out, top 40’s crap to contend with. Couple of pool tables. I don’t «look» like I «dive» and can’t hang with a slooper size, but have the friends who can and do, and I do have the attitude. We’ve rocked this place before bouncing all of Ballard. What keeps this from being a true dive for me? Too bright. Too open. Maybe it gets divier as it gets later… but I doubt it. Still, it is a good time at the Sloop… bring your friends; there’s plenty of seating.

My climbing crew and I make a habit of stopping by here every Thursday after Stoney G’s. This place is as good as a dive bar gets! 1. Sloopers. Need I say more? Huge steins of beer for dirt cheap. 2. The beer is always crisp and always cold with the perfect amount of foam. 3. Lotsa regulars – where«everybody knows your name.» 4. Bartender is always on her A game. 5. Tator tots. After 11pm. Again, need I say more? I love this Ballard bar!
