The Platine Salon

I’m not one to write Unilocal reviews but I had a particularly awful experience and thought I’d share. I communicated to the stylist that I wanted to gracefully grow out my hair. I brought an image in as a template for the cut, which was tossed aside and never referenced. After receiving a haircut from this salon I am set back 8 – 12 months to reach my goals, if not longer. I naturally have very thick hair and asked for it to be thinned. Little did I know that my request would result in my looking like a cancer patient. Months after the cut, I can put up the entirety of my hair with one small clip. This clip would not have ever been able to hold 3/​8ths of my hair previous to subjecting it to the hands of this stylist. I never wear my hair down, it remains in a «bun» because it looks like a joke. I’m in a state of astonishment months following the cut more than anything. The judgments and/​or standards of this particular stylist baffles me.

I tried Platine on a whim when I saw a Groupon. The staff was friendly and I felt totally comfortable there. My hair cut and style was also GREAT which was such a relief since the last few high end stylists I’d tried in Seattle had failed me. My confidence in my hair and getting hair cuts is renewed! Woo hoo!

Ashle is amazing! After I got a less than stellar dye job from a different salon, I managed to get an appointment at The Platine. Ashle fit me in the next day and she fixed up my hair so that I actually like it and it feels healthier now than when I went in. I will definitely be back.

This salon rocks! Fun and fashionable. They have jewelry, purses, scarves and more. Ashle is amazing and I always love my hair.

I am a brunette and I decided to go blonde. She advised me on the smart way to go about it. She used Olaplex which was good to protect my hair during the entire process. Ashly was great to talk with me. She helped me to pick the right shade of blonde. My hair took two visits to get the blonde color I wanted because my hair is naturally dark. She was pleasant and sweet both visits. The salon is beautiful, inviting, and comfortable, and the stylists are personable and friendly. I was offered delicious coffee. They have it easy to charge your phone while you sit. I shall go here going forward!

Great experience with Ashle. Was able to get in within two days of calling for an appointment. The service was affordable and hospitable. I will definitely be going back.

Ashley did an amazing job with my hair! She fixed a bad haircut and color and now my hair looks and feels amazing. This was my first time at this salon and I didn’t know what to expect, but the atmosphere was very welcoming and beautiful. I will definitely go back.

I’m never one to write Unilocal reviews, but I had to say something because I had a particularly bad experience here. I got a hair cut with Jessica and it was one of the worst hair cut’s I’ve ever had. I chopped off over 6 inches of hair and was clear that I wanted layers, but the cut was very blunt with no texture/​layers. I dislike any way I wear the cut– I have maybe worn my hair down a couple of times at most. When I wear my hair in a ponytail, the ponytail looks choppy, blunt, and terrible. The length is awkward and growing out poorly.
When I got the cut, I’d also asked Jessica to cut my bangs. With most hair stylists, they know how to cut bangs with just some guidance– but can be left alone to know how to frame the client’s face, etc. But she seemed to be really lost on how to do it without me specifically guiding her step by step, which isn’t my job– it’s hers as the stylist.
After the hair cut, I told the concierge that I was unhappy about it and she invited me to come back and get it fixed with the senior stylist. I told her that I’d come back in a few weeks and give it some time to grow out. When it still looked terrible, if not worse when it grew out, I called the place and tried to reschedule with the concierge. I work nights and it’s difficult for me to schedule in time to come, and with the holidays being busy, I asked if it might be possible to come in after the holidays, in January (I was going to be out of town for 10 days). She told me I couldn’t because it’d be too far from the date of the cut (mid-​November). But I literally had no other time to come in due to working nights and then being out of town. I found them to eventually be unresponsive and unhelpful during this time.
They suggested I get a refund from Groupon, so I did just that.
The staff was nice and tried to be helpful, but the cut was just really bad and very disappointing to get 6 inches off to have it look blunt, with no layers, and no texture. I don’t want to speak ill of anyone, but I didn’t trust the skills of this stylist and would not recommend her to anyone I know. I realize it’s worth the money to go to someone you trust.

This is a very nice salon with a good ambience and stylish décor. I went in with a Groupon for a haircut, style and highlights and I had a great experience overall with Ashle. I managed to get an appointment via email at short notice and everyone at the salon was really warm and friendly. Will definitely go there again.

My new favorite salon! I got a wonderful style and highlights from Jess, and I still receive complements on my hair (one month later!). My mom went to Val too and her hair looks wonderful! I went to this salon to shop before I ever got my hair done. It’s perfect for gifts! There are so many great scarves, candles, jewelry, and purses! I’ll definitely be back to shop and for my hair. Everyone is so nice and helpful :)

The ambience is fabulous, very chic and modern. I enjoy all of the employees and my haircut is always sharp, Val does a great job. They are genuinely happy to be there and care about my experience. This is the most important thing to me as I patronize any establishment. Will definitely keep coming back!

Didn’t feel out of place being a man and getting a my haircut at a NICE salon. I have little to no opinion of my hair style, but was in much need of advice as sloppy hair doesn’t cut it in the professional world. Jess pointed me in the right direction and I have been going back to her ever since.
