Really sad to see The Pit closed, I do hope he re-opens sooner than the 3 years he mentions on the Facebook page. I’ll miss those Rib Tips… by far the best in Seattle. Pookie, thanks for all the great ‘cue.

OMG! The ribs are wonderful! I highly recommend them. I also recommend the pork sandwich and potato salad. That is the extent of what I ordered but i’m sure everything else on the menu is equally amazing. Very laid back atmosphere and the owners are super nice!

The BBQ had a different sauce, but good. Ribs are meaty and tender and God knows, enough! I have no concept of portion control when I see ribs! My grown grandson dove into the tender rib tips and all I could see was his hair line! We all complained about no sweet potato pie, but we were willing to forgive because the que was so good. Potato salad and baked beans capped it. Greens had an odd sweet taste that was a bit off — putting, but not unbearable. But what makes this place a 5 is the personable staff. Tony, the owner, took a personal approach to greeting as well as feeding his customers! The sweet and funny lady who took our order was warm and accurate. No mistakes! We were celebrating my grandson’s 23rd birthday, and he left happy. Didn’t we all?!

I’m from the south so I know good bbq. Found this spot on Unilocal and glad I did. Overall I’m pretty satisfied with this spot. The only drawback for me were the sides. The collard greens were a little too sweet for my liking and the potato salad wasn’t my fave but ok nonetheless. The ribs didn’t have a lot of seasoning to them but the bbq sauce made up for that. Will certainly try them again in the future

The food was delicious and the service was even better. We got there ahead of a couple of friends and decided to wait to order. The guys behind the counter offered us a sampler with basically everything on the menu. Everything was awesome and I settled on the pulled pork. Nothing but smiles from the guys as well as they served it up. Great spot and really reasonable prices.

As always, this BBQ is my favorite in Seattle. My opinion but everyone I’ve brought agrees. Prices are on point and the food is phenomenal.(miss that pie!) Tony is an amazing man who always has a smile on his face. Respectable and honest. Hope him and his son keep this business going.

My boyfriend took me here after a productive day of climbing. As we were looking at the menu, the owner, Tony walks in and greets us with a smile and a nice conversation. We ordered the rib dinner with greens and baked beans, the pulled beef sandwich and a side of potato salad. The ribs were smoky and tender and the sauce was sweet and peppery with a lot of spice. I saw the smoke ring on the ribs and knew they were going to be delicious. The pulled sandwiches are also superb! Tender beef with the delicious sauce and the buns absorbed all the flavor. Mmmmm ITDOESN’T STOPTHERE. As we were finishing our meal, Tony comes out with the pulled pork sandwich for me to try it since my boyfriend mentioned I’m from California. Suuuuperr delicious. THEN Tony comes out with MORE food to try. Rib tips, hot links and more potato salad. At this point, I’m about to fall into a food coma, but I NEED to try this food. Rib tips– peppery, crispy and soft. My boyfriend was raving about these when we walked in and I can see why. I wish we left with a pound of this stuff. The hot links are spicy, smoky and sweet. I love the sausage. It has great flavors and the spicy sauce makes it taste better! And make sure you get the greens! I’m very picky about greens and they were on point! Best I’ve had so far. I would give this place a six stars if I could. The Tony and his son are so sweet, welcoming and the food is worth trying! Great job guys! I’ll be coming back!

I am going to have to go back to try the brisket and pulled pork. I had the rib dinner with the potato salad and the greens. The ribs were good and up there in the BBQ land world. Nice and meaty, some good sauce. They have some good meat on the ribs compared to other places. I might have to try the rib ends as well because there was this one rib in there that was close to the end and it was the best of all. Nice and juicy. Some of the others were dry but I am not that picky. I am OK with dry because its BBQ and it smoked but a couple were on the drier side. The potato salad was good. I like that slight mustard style and they brought it. It wasn’t over the top like super home made style. Sorry my Mom makes the best potato salad ever and no one can compare… but it wasn’t bad either. Compared to most places it was good. The greens were fire and again not sure if I screwed up cause I got to go and when I got home a bunch of the sauce had run into the greens. Not sure if they come that way normally. The guy working the front counter was very cool. Laid back place. I like the vibe.

If your visiting Seattle Washington and looking to eat some good barbecue, look no further this place might be a hole in the wall but it’s the best barbecue food I have ever tasted. I was impressed! I was given a sample and guess what it was delicious. The ambient is pretty chill. Great place to hang out and eat some barbecue while looking at all the artist pictures on the wall. D and his dad were so generous and kind. Talk about good customer service. There food is great. the meat falls of the bone. There beans are delicious, the potato salad is on point and the greens OMG are delightful. coming to This place for the first time today was a great choice. I was impressed! Best barbecue in town!

CASHONLY! Now that we have the bad out of the way let’s talk about the good, because there’s a lot of it. You can smell the bbq pit from a block away. Which just helped to build on the anticipation. It, of course, smelled amazing and upon walking in you’re filled with the delicious smell of bbq. I was sad to find out that the greens weren’t ready yet at noon so I opted for the baked beans which were really good. The star of the meal, however was the rib tips. $ 9 for a lb of quite possibly some of the best rib tips I’ve had in a long time. The kicker was the amazing bbq sauce on top which was perfect. It had just a hint of sour, sweet, and salty and complemented the meat as opposed to overpowering it like some other sauces. It’s so delicate and smooth you could just drink the thing straight. I hope they decide to bottle it and just sell it because it was amazing. Definitely need to come back to try the bbq with the greens next time.

I’ve been here a couple times now and boy is it good. I have the intention of writing a review every time but my rib tips are usually gone by then. The sauce is perfect not too sweet with a subtle smokiness and a lil kick of something that makes your taste buds dance. It’s finger lickin good idk how else to say it. The portion size is huge, the taste is there, and the service is cool. Nothing to complain about. Happy tummy, happy wallet, happy me.

I downed their pulled pork sandwich in under 3 minutes. Then I got a rib dinner with collards and baked beans. …And I finished with a sweet potato pie. What can I say? I’m a fatty. The owner was super nice and personable — left us alone but offered good conversation when it seemed we were amenable to chatting. Being a Southern girl that grew up in Atlanta, it’s been hard going for me to find a good Southern BBQ place here in Seattle. But I’ve sure found it now!!! The pulled pork sandwich had the perfect amount of sauce on it and was tender and juicy. The ribs were fall off the bone good with just the right amount of sauce on ‘em. Not so much that you leave looking like a caveman but just enough that you get sauce with ever bite. …And some on my shirt. Because I’m a mess of a human being. The collards were a tad sweeter than I’m used to, but that might just be my preference. I like ‘em more tangy than sweet. The baked beans were sweet and tangy, but I like ‘em that way. The pie? Ohhhhh the pie… I had 1 bite of my friend’s pie and had to go order a slice of pie for myself. The perfect balance of spice and sweetness and creaminess. And my favorite part, the crust, was buttery and crisp. Yummmm… This place is CASHONLY, in case you skipped the other reviews saying the exact same thing. I can’t wait to go back for another pulled pork sandwich or 4!!!

dinner food: beef with baked beans and greens. the sauce was great. not too sweet and a bit smokey. the baked beans were a bit on the sweet side for me and the greens were tender. the meat seemed dry even though it was drenched in sauce. ***3/5 service: the owner seems super down to earth. but the cashier person seems to be missing and distant. i love their bar table. natural wood and it was so shiny. ***3/5 value: maybe i shouldve ordered something else. the sauce was great, but i didnt like the meat as much as some other places. id come back to try the ribs like everybody else next time. ***3/5

Got the rib dinner to go a couple of days ago. The lady behind the counter seemed a little irritated with her customers for some reason. Maybe she was having a bad day. The ribs were actually beautifully cooked. Very tender and flavorful with a nice smoke ring. Contrary to what everyone else has said though, what I didn’t like much was the sauce. There was just too much of it and although it was not bad, it took away from the natural sweet smokey flavor of the pork. The sides were your average sides, not bad but not spectacular. Overall, considering the abysmal BBQ scene in Seattle, this is definitely one of the better places for ribs. A little pricey at $ 13.50 for 4 ribs but I’d still probably go back here when I’m in the neighborhood and craving BBQ.

Glad to see more Black ran businesses. I personally didn’t care for any of the food. I shared a Hot Link Dinner with Potato Salad and Greens & a Rib Dinner with Baked Beans & Potato Salad. The Hot Links weren’t that hot at all, the sauce was really sweet. I don’t like sweet barbecue sauce. The Potato Salad tasted like the kind you buy pre-made at the grocery store. The baked beans were the same way. They tasted like Bush’s Baked Beans lol. The Ribs were good but again, the sauce was way too sweet to my liking. I’ve had better Sweet Potato Salad, the picture tells all. The service was exceptional, very nice people. Loved the set up in the small space they have to work with. It was nice tax was included in the prices listed. Overall, it was cute little place but the flavor of the food could of been better.

Man this place has super yummy BBQ. I’m from South Texas and this is the best BBQ I’ve had out here. My boyfriend and I both got the pork rib plate with potato salad and beans because they were out of the collard greens :(The ribs were fall-off-the-bone-drool-worthy. The sauce is tangy and a little sweet, which I can understand how that could be a turn off for some, but I thought it was perfect. The beans were meh but I’m not a huge bean fan. The potato salad was boss: creamy, fresh, chunky potatoes. Soooo good. They have Jones soda too! We got awesome service. BEWARE: there are NO signs saying that this place is cash only. We found out the hard way after we had ordered and I tried to pay the lady with my debit card. She was super cool about it and let us eat first and then we swung by the Arco station around the corner when we were done and I took out some cash and went back and paid her! True southern hospitality at this place ha! Will be coming back with cash to eat more ribs and try the collard greens. :)

Seattle’s an international town of all sorts of food, so I had to test out this BBQ place to see what it was all about. Plus I figured if anyone was qualified to test out BBQ, it’s a guy who just moved to Seattle from Dallas. Well, he approved with flying colors. Pretty reasonable prices for the meat, although I was disappointed that I could only get one type of meat. So beef brisket it was… and holy FREAKINGCOW. Some of the softest, melt-in-your-mouth beef I’ve ever with some awesome sweet and tangy barbeque sauce. Amazing barbeque sauce right here folks. Beans and potato salad were pretty good, but my lasting memory is THATMEAT. And you gotta love the customer service… hooked it up with two pork ribs because I couldn’t get a split plate. Those were awesome too!

Since moving from Tampa to Seattle, I’ve been on the hunt for some good southern bbq. After mulling over all the reviews I thought for sure this would be the spot. Unfortunately, I was wrong. I stopped in around 5:45 and they were out of ribs, which wasn’t a huge deal. So we ordered the rib tips, a pulled pork sandwich and sides of the beans/potato salad. The pulled pork was almost like a slime and had no texture or taste to it. The rib tips were just average, but lacked flavor. The bbq sauce has absolutely nothing special about it. You could walk into a grocery store and pick out about 10 different brands better than whatever they were using. I went in with high expectations which might add to my disappointment, but this place is certainly nothing to write home about. As for my bbq hunt in Seattle, I think I’ve thrown in the towel.
