Stylist Phuong Tran is amazing, 5 stars! A great, personalized cut, that looked just as amazing beyond the salon. 10 years at Super Cuts, Phuong Tran is a Northgate gem!

I literally just left this salon and I am very pleased with my haircut. However I am even MORE pleased with their wonderful service. Upon finding myself needing a hair cut asap in the Northgate area, supercuts was a convenient and affordable option. I arrive ten minutes before closing and they were still able to help me. My stylist Phuong Tran was polite and helpful while helping me with my huge mess of hair, a challenge I would not have wanted to undertake in the last bit of work shift. Thank you to Phuong Tran and northgate Supercuts. I left a good tip but i hope this review helps as well. You guys deserve great reviews and good customers. I would recommend this Supercuts to anyone.

I have gone here pretty regularly over the years and feel I should review because the stylists deserve way better than what some of the cranks are saying. If you pay a lot more and go to a high end salon you can and should get more attention and a bettet cut. However, I must say the stylists here are very courteous, professional and generally do a very good job, especially for the price and efficiency of service. Generally my haircuts turn out very well. (I’m a guy so I don’t know what it it might be like for a woman with a more complicated hair situation.) I always joke with others about the supercuts lottery with respect to whether my sides will come out even or not. In reality it usually turns out fine. Just keep your head level.

Never going here again. When you ask for something specific, you won’t get it. You might as well cough up the extra money at a salon to get a decent haircut. Also, I don’t appreciate when I ask for a higher fade and I get rolling eyes.

Having moved to Seattle from Los Angeles half a year ago, there are always some things I love and some things I hate. For starters, beer is cheaper in Seattle. What I don’t get, however, is why a haircut at Supercuts is $ 17 here compared to $ 14 at home. 21% more doesn’t quite make sense to me considering it’s a chain and the cost of living in Seattle can’t be that much higher, but if that’s how it is and I’ll accept it.
Now that I got that out, the experience here was good overall. They only take same-​day appointments, so I called a few hours ahead and got a 3pm appointment. Upon arriving there around 3pm, I was promptly seated at a haircutting station (skipping 4 other people; seriously, get an appointment if you want to save time) and the trimming began. I don’t remember the hairdresser’s name since she didn’t have a name tag, but she did a good job on my hair and it looked pretty much how I envisioned it to be at the end.
I will probably be coming back 2 haircuts from now… but first, my $ 12 haircut when I go back home for winter break :)

I went to get a very basic trim… to get off the split ends from going far too long in between cuts. The stylist was friendly, warm, but not invasive or overly talkative. She checked to make sure of what I wanted before she started snipping, and checked in with me a couple times along the way to make sure she was doing what I wanted.
It was empty when I arrived (it was about 8pm) so I can’t speak for how things are when it is busy. I also got the most basic trim ever, so I can’t speak for other services.
I’m used to a more professional hairdresser but I went here because I am a poor graduate student. It was alright. $ 16 for a basic trim.

Went to get my hair fixed after a «let the boyfriend trim the ends» moment of weakness.
Pros: No wait, got almost what I wanted done and the price was right! I wanted my fringe a little shorter and she did a nice job of it!
Negs: The Supercuts in CA normally spray your hair down with water before doing any cutting, and their supplies are soaked/​rinsed between customers. This isn’t the case at this location. A little bit of my hair fell in my face and rather than just use the blow dryer or hand me a tissue, the hair dresser wiped my face… with a towel covered in the guy before me’s grey hair. Eek.

A much-​needed addition to the northgate area! I went in on a busy weekend afternoon and was pleasantly surprised to see 4 stylists working away! I only had to wait about 10 minutes before being seated, which is practically a record. The stylists are quiet but talented! Everyone — including myself — left looking pleased and sharp. They also have big signs that you can see from Northgate Way that say «no wait» when, presumably, there’s no wait! Overall it’s a big step up from the Great Clips in that strip mall behind the transit center. I will definitely be coming back!

I went in for a haircut. There was one guy answering the phone, working the desk, and cutting a client’s hair. I felt bad for him. He was so stressed out he seemed annoyed by my presence (even though I called in advance to get a sense of how busy they were), but I really needed my hair cut that day. Eventually some other stylists showed up. The girl who cut my hair was terrible. Listen, I really try to be fair and give people the benefit of the doubt. I know that hair stylists aren’t miracle workers and that the end result can vary from what you originally envisioned. I can live with that… but I really felt like the girl who cut my hair didn’t care about understanding what I wanted done. She even rolled her eyes at me when I politely tried to tell her that I wanted a little more off the back. In the end, she did a sloppy job. I left feeling frustrated and offended. I left for my trip with a bad haircut. I had it fixed at another salon as soon as I got back. Maybe they do have some great stylists who work there, but my experience was irking enough to never want to go back.

I recently went into this salon to get a shampoo, cut, and color. Nancy greeted me when I walked in. She was very friendly and asked me specifics as to what I was looking for. I have been to high end salons in the past and she did by far the best color and cut I have EVER had. She did EXACTLY what I asked her to do. I would highly recommend going here and having your hair done. ASK FOR NANCY! She is the best!

Tragedy! Stephen Kennard, patron saint of colorists, has moved to Eastern WA.

I used to get my hair cut at a super trendy salon that charged more than 100 bucks a cut. I was on my way to a party and needed a quick bang trim so I stopped here and Stephen did the coolest things to my bangs. I got so many compliments I kept coming back. Since then I just let him do what he wants and it is always awesome!

I’m updating my review based on the workings of Phuong-​Tran (sp?). I finally found a barber who knows how to blend my hair well and understands what I want!
If you’re a guy, and need a haircut. Come here, expect to pay around $ 16, and ask for Phuong-​Tran. You shouldn’t be disappointed.

I came here to get my hair cut last week, and I have to say I wasn’t impressed.
I explained to the girl what I wanted, and when it was about half way done, it was already shorter than I had asked for. I had also asked for layers, but the ends of it were uneven. I ended up going home and redoing the ends so that it was the same length on both sides.
If you need a quick trim, sure, I’d go here. But for a major ‘do, save up and go somewhere else.

What I’ve learned over the years is if I need a quick hair cut that is a basic trim and don’t want to pay $ 35 to $ 65 for it then I go to a Supercuts or a Hairmasters. If i want to get a completely new look and hair color then I go to the more expensive places that are in the upper $ 100 to $ 200 range.
This place to me is the place I go for that quick hair trim. I can’t say that it is the worst I’ve been to because I came here crying one day after I had gone to an expensive place on Mercer Island to have someone fix my hair. At least I knew that someone at supercuts could put my hair back to a basic shape after I spent $ 250 to have someone at the «fancy salon» butcher it.
This particular place has gone through staff and managment changes a couple times because I don’t always see the same crew there every time I go, but I would say… it is an «ok» place and plan to go again… because after Christmas I don’t have $ 200 to spend on my hair. :)

Back when I lived a little bit closer to Northgate I used to come here once every six weeks or so for a haircut. Since six years is a long time, I’m going to break out this review in a series of stories.
— One of the reasons I started going here was because they had a stylist named Kim. She was probably in her mid to late 40’s and was very quiet, somewhat frail with very tiny fingers. Other stylists tried to talk to her and she would smile but act very shy. She was adorable, and my roommate at the time and I developed a schoolkid crush on her for still being adorable into her 40’s. She left one day. It made this place worse.
— For a few months they employed a young woman whose name I think was also Kim. She was hyper-​talkative, doing whatever she could to try to engage in conversation. One day she asked me what I was studying at UW. I told her I was studying psychology. She was under the impression that psychology was the study of ESP (or, as she called it, «studying psychic»). So for the next 3 or 4 times I came in, she would ask me if I was able to read her mind. Then she’d laugh at me.
— One lady here was really nice. She was usually in a good mood, and tended to do a pretty good job cutting my hair short. The only problem was that she had very thick fingers, so she was unable to cut hair below like 3 quarters of an inch without using a buzzer. So any time she was my stylist I had to get a buzz cut.
— Every single front desk girl here over the course of six years smoked and talked on the phone throughout her entire shift. Every single one. They also tended to act like entitled racists, talking down to the largely immigrant hair cutters.
— There was a short, somewhat chubby lady that worked here that over the last two years was there every single time I came, even when it appeared everyone else had left. She spoke very little English and cut hair like she was in a big hurry. One day she was using the clippers and she made a cut in the top of my ear. It started to bleed, and she thought I didn’t notice, so she went and grabbed a tissue and then kept it between her fingers as she kept buzzing. Then when she thought I wasn’t looking she would quickly place the tissue on top of the wound to soak up the blood, then hide the tissue again so I «couldn’t see it» and then soak up the blood again a few seconds later. As she was cleaning me up she pretended she was drying my head with the towel she stuck it on top of the cut and fake dried my hair before telling me I could go.

I went to this place expecting supercuts quality. I am from Los Angeles and the supercuts there are similar to the commercials, that is to say excellent service and excellent hair stylists for the price. That is not the case for this place. My stylist did not know what she was doing, despite the instructions I gave. What usually is a simple cut that takes my stylists 10 minutes took about half an hour at this place. All my stylists talked about was food, movies, yada yada yada. Terrible stylist. Overall, one star because this place is definitely NOT worth 16 bucks.

On a sunday morning I went in to get a haircut, the wait wasn’t terrible. They had 3 stylists working. When it was my turn, she had just finished with someone and didn’t sweep, or even clean up the area. When she grabbed the scissors they had a clump of hair from the previous client stuck in them. She just shook them off and proceeded to cut. I didn’t say anything as to me honest I didn’t care that much at the time, but thinking about it… what if the previous client had lice. Seriously, clean and maintain a clean area. Disgusting and will not EVER return.
