Don’t trust the people that work there! They’ll screw you over! If you have a choice to stay elsewhere I would recommend doing just that. I payed for a week and they kicked me out after 5 days because they made a mistake. Not kidding.

Okay, at first I questioned the negative review I read about this place because I felt that the woman who wrote it had not actually stayed at the Motel, she was giving second hand information. Having experienced this establishment myself — I totally agree with her comments. For one thing, this place doesn’t even appear to be up to local building codes. There is no deadbolt on the flimsy front doors, and the unit I stayed in had several dents in the metal door that look as if someone had forced their way in. The molding around the door had gouges that looked like someone had tried to pry the door open with a metal object. The only lock on the door was a simple interior door lock that opens and locks with a metal key provided-there isn’t even one of those useless chain thingys that gives you a little more security. The window in the bathroom and the front window had no screens and the glass was not dual paned, but the kind that shatters when it is broken. The carpet was almost completely threadbare and the molding all around the walls was missing-torn out obviously but not replaced. Even the drain in the tiny shower, which was plastic was broken, and I had heard of rats climbing up the pipes in Seattle’s sewers, so this in addition to not feeling secure in the room, made me feel extremely uncomfortable. There were no pillow cases, only the shams that match the comforter, so I don’t believe that they are washed between customers. The one blanket was extremely thin., and the sheets were threadbare. You get one tiny towel, a wash cloth and a handtowel, which I had to use to line the shower when I got in because there was no way I was going stand in there in my bare feet. No bathmat, not even one of those rubber things to prevent you from slipping. I had a non smoking room, but what’s the use of this when people sit on their front stoop right outside my room smoking so that my room fills with the odor, and I can barely breath. The only comforting element was that the woman next door seemed friendly and had two dogs that I thought I could probably depend on to bark if someone was creeping around my door. If these rooms are«updated» it must have been thirty years ago. I asked for a refund because of the door lock, but I was informed by the front desk clerk that there are no refunds, and besides«its a low crime area” — BS there were obvious meth heads congregating outside in the parking lot and questionable looking clientele. The girl who was in line ahead of me looked like a regular, and the front desk person told her that the woman she came with was not allowed on site. What does that make you think? They claim that no visitors are allowed and that everyone staying there, all occupants have to show their ID. Since I could not get a refund, and I was obligated to stay overnight because of a medical procedure at Swedish in Ballard, I had a glass of wine for courage at a local café, on Greenwood I think and tried to sleep with one eye open. Take a look at the contract you sign before you stay there, it is written as if you were some kind of delinquent child, and states that no refunds are given since you are given the chance to look at the room before committing. I did not have time to look at the room because I was late for my appointment. I trusted that a place in Seattle would be on the up and up. I was mistaken. This place should be condemned. I have to admit that the security guard stopped me and asked me what room I was going to, but I’m hardly the suspicious type. If they could just clean this place up and put better doors with deadbolts on the units, it would be okay. More affordable lodging is just not available in the Ballard area, and many people having surgery at the hospital need it. This should be a priority for the City, if not Swedish. I’m sure that if someone(like the hospital) cared enough about patients that this would be possible. Aurora is very seedy in spots, don’t let anyone fool you. The Travelodge isn’t much better(looking at the exterior) than this motel.

I question the negative review for this motel. .. I’ve stayed there a total of four times over two years and each time I’ve had a very positive experience. Super clean and comfortable and the front desk people were very nice. Of course it’s noisy due to it’s location. It’s old but the units have been updated. I think it’s charming — but I prefer vintage over new.

First of all, regarding the only other comment for this place — only the owner of this place would give it 5 stars. This place is a real sh*t hole! Filthy dirty, no hot water at all… so bad that you had to sleep fully dressed because you didn’t dare let your skin touch the bed. The only reason why my husband and son stayed there was because they had to much to drink from partaking in a car show a few blocks down and didn’t want to risk drinking and driving. I would have just slept in car. I wish I could give this place a negative star — if only there was an option for that. GROSSGROSSGROSS!!!
