My husband and I love this Subway because of Dane. He is friendly, hard working and kick ass at making those sandwiches. When cooking at home is out we know 100% that Dane will make the best. He has been there for over 3 yrs and he just gets it. thank you Dane…

This Subway location is kind of a toss-up. On the one hand, there’s a really nice guy who works there who recognizes me and my friend whenever we come in. He always asks us what’s happening this week or Lost or Glee or whatever show we’re watching after we grab our sub sandwich. He makes good sandwiches and gives us the proper amount of toppings we ask for and he’s just friendly and awesome. On the other hand, pretty much any other employee who has made my sandwich at this location didn’t do a great job. I had to ask multiple times for extra lettuce, olives, etc. And they just aren’t friendly or even personable in the slightest. So…this place gets a 3. Because our regular guy is awesome, but the others are not.

I worked for a Subway franchise for a while when I was in High School, so I can say with conviction that it isn’t as clean as you think it is. The commercials claim that Subway restaurants are fresher(and by association cleaner, and safer) than fast food restaurants and yes, their food is lower in fat and calories than greasy burgers and fries, but think about it; at least burgers and French fries are deep fried or grilled shortly before you consume them, therefore killing any harmful bacteria, but when it comes to the cold, flaccid sandwich meat served at Subway, it’s anyone’s guess. Yeah, the employees are wearing gloves when they build your sandwich, but how did that ham/crab salad/meatball sludge make it from the supply truck to the display case? Hmmmmm? On the other hand, the Subway where I worked was in a gas station in a desolate northeastern backwater, and the employees at the Ballard location are pretty clean-cut, so being that this is Seattle(where the populace is generally underemployed) they probably all have master’s degrees in public heath… who knows?
