I decided to have a few friends over for the 3 Ds(dinner, drinks, dessert) for a Girls Night In. The menu was pretty ambitious but I was determined to have everything and while I LOVE baking and normally would make my own baked goodies, my inner project manager told me I didn’t have the resources(womanpower and time) to bake desserts & prep all the food so I decided to turn elsewhere. A coworker of mine recently moved out here from Chicago and his wife runs Serious Baked Goods which has now relocated to the Seattle area. She had provided some baked goodness at a department event recently so I knew what her work tasted like and after looking at her menu I decided to order the seasonal Geneva cupcake(dark chocolate cake with fresh cherry filling, vanilla cherry frosting) and the S’mores brownies. And to make it a happy Friday for my colleagues I also ordered 4 dozen of the Chokablock cookies(oatmeal, coconut, dark chocolate chunks, and dried cranberries). When I reached out to Kim she explained that with the move to Seattle, she hadn’t update the site yet and while she could make the Geneva cupcakes, it wouldn’t be with fresh cherries since they aren’t in season. I totally get that but it didn’t deter me, so I went ahead with the order. The cookies were a hit with the office! They were so good — I meant to keep 1 for my husband but I couldn’t and just ate it. What he doesn’t know can’t hurt him, right? ;) The brownies were good, but brownies can be such a polarizing item where some people like it gooey, cakey, or heavy. I’m more of the gooey type of person so I found them a bit dry for my taste, but I did love the way they looked and I know my husband loved the ones left from the party. The best thing in my opinion though was the cupcakes! She’s not joking when she says«dark chocolate.» With cherries in the cupcakes & cherries in the frosting, it was SOOO good! Super moist and just the right amount of sweetness! I’ll definitely use Kim again!
