Sephora

I love all Sephora’s, but this one at Northgate mall inside the JC Penny is sooooooooooooooooohhhhhh small that it seems a waste of time. Back to the Bellevue mall for me for the full size Sephora next time.
If you are in the market for almost any brand of makeup or fragrance (man or woman) this is the store to go to. They also do mini samples if you want to try something at home. And the employees are VERY helpful and will go to almost any length to help you find what you want or need.

This was by far the best Sephora experience I’ve ever had! Dan was a dream and so so so helpful! He gave me plenty of samples and the other staff also helped me pick out the right combination of colors! At some other sephoras I’ve felt like I was bothering the staff when I had questions but everyone here was just so great and welcoming even though they were super busy. This is the only one I’ll go to from now on.

I came into Sephora feeling VERY intimidated because of my lack of experience with make-​up. After binge-​watching make-​up tutorials, I ventured out to get supplies so I could learn how to do a basic make-​up application with a shopping list of all of the items I would need. Randolyn was the one who helped me and she was FANTASTIC! She went through my list with me and told me which products I don’t actually need, which beauty routines are too advanced (or would take too much of my time and are impractical), and which products she recommended for me based off my needs as opposed to being told to buy something from a list. She showed me how to use each product and taught me how to make a winged liner. If I didn’t like something, she was flexible and offered other suggestions. Her concern was that I was getting product that I loved and would actually use rather than just trying to sell me a bag of stuff. I ended up spending more than double what I had planned because I could see the value in the items we selected together. I will absolutely come back to Sephora and this location for ALL make-​up needs so that I can ask Randolyn for tips and advice. Excellent service.

Always helpful. They always seem happy to help. They’re not to pushy or follow you around like other Sephora’s I’ve been to.

WORST CUSTOMER SERVICE EVER!!!
The male worker is extremely rude, has no idea how much money his attitude will cost their store.
I stood there for several minutes at the register, while employees ignored me. When an employee came, he was completely rude. Another employee stood there doing nothing.
I certainly won’t return, I will go to DT Seattle store.
If you must go to northgate, Melissa is very helpful, only they refuse to let me know when she will be in so that she can assist me.
I highly recommend you go to different Sephora.

This Sephora location is right inside of JC Penney in Northgate Mall. It’s actually quite a small, open area that holds a few units for each of Sephora product selection. The area is actually very small that at the time I was there, it was cluttered with 2 big plastic bags (for stocks?) sitting at the counter where customers can sit to get their trial makeup done.
I’ve been to many Sephora locations but found the service here to be below par. I went into the store, picked something up to buy and literally had to wait in front of the cashier to pay for 5 minutes. To be fair, 2 other employees I saw were busy helping other prospect customers with their makeup trials. However, it was sort of unimaginable to me how any store that lives and breaths by sales like Sephora would leave the one and only cashier area unarmed with staff.
At the end, I don’t think anyone was interested in helping to ring my purchase up until I literally had to flag down one of the staffs with «excuse me, can I please pay for this?» While staff was nice, I also didn’t like that there was no samples at all. I get it that when making purchase online, you get 3 free samples… but even when I go to other physical store, the other stores always put in at least one or two samples for me. This one… nothing at all.
Overall, I stopped by here and got my task (of buying one product) done. However, it definitely wouldn’t be me go-​to store, given below average service and cluttered showroom.

This is a great store as long as you know what you want! I came in once without knowing exactly what I wanted and returned all the products a couple days later. However, they took back my opened products. I returned after doing more research and am perfectly happy with my product selection.

Worst customer service I’ve ever experienced in a cosmetics store. They were understaffed and not exactly warm when I asked them if I could get a foundation consultation. This girl gave me so much attitude you’d think she was still in high school. She said she would get back to me on when someone would be available and left me standing there for about ten minutes, so I walked out.
Never again!

Great customer service, to me, means being greeted when I walk in, asked if I need any help, check in with me again (maybe), have a smooth transaction with all my questions answered to the best of the person’s knowledge, and greeted on my way out. That’s what I was taught when I worked in customer service departments (sales clerk + telephone operator) and that’s what I received at this Sephora!
I’m not so crazy on expensive makeup just yet, but I do love the amount of stock that this store has. It may seem small to fanatics, but it’s perfect for me.
I’m always in and out graciously.

Sure this store is much smaller than most Sephora’s but my experience at this location was GREAT. The sale clerk named Melissa was fantastic/​awesome. She was so nice in helping me find the perfect make up product — brow powder. Not only did she take the time to show me how to apply the make up but she also took the time to show me other products. I really appreciated this extra special care she put into helping me. She had a great attitude and was super friendly and approachable. Sometimes when you go to make up counters, you can face a super pretentious and «busy» clerk. I’ve had previous encounters at Nordstroms where I’ve gotten plenty of attitude. Not here.
Since I am rather inexperienced with knowing much about make up, Melissa gave me some extra tips and also put in a couple of samples. I really enjoyed my experience here.

Went in for two specific new shades of lipstick. Checked the sephora app to ensure they were in stock. I went in and did not see them on display so I asked the sales person if she could help me find them. She was so incredibly disinterested and said, «yeah, we have them but they’re in the back.» And just stood there. My instinct was to ask, «can you go get them?» But since I am also in retail sales, I gave her a moment. She said «only the manager has keys.» She proceeded to check with a jc Penney manager to see about finding keys and the only other soul with access to their stockroom had gone home for the day. I thought that this was incredibly mismanaged as one person having access is bad for the customer since they need days off and can’t be there from open to close. Also, if as a manager you know that your team can’t have access to back stock, why not have them efficiently stock the sales floor? She sales person went on to say, «you can try back tomorrow. I think she’ll be here.» Needless to say, I will never be back to that location.

I am soo disappointed and sad :[ I love Sephora so much, but I won’t be back to this location. I am in the market for new foundation and I was wandering around looking for some. There were 3 sales associates and one was assisting somebody else so I waited nearby for her to finish up so I could ask about receiving some samples for me to try. We were there for about 30 minutes and when the one associate who was assisting someone else was finished, she struck up a conversation with her coworkers. I was really really wanting to buy some foundation too :’(Also, the store was very cluttered and dirty. I work by a sephora in Lynnwood and they always give great service so I’ll be taking my business there from now on.

Soooo sephora I want to love you… but you ALWAYS disappoint me in the customer service department. I’ve had what I consider pretty bad service in more than 3 stores, but this review is directed of course to the northgate store. Was here yesterday with two friends and once again received sub par service. Hopefully others will and have gotten way better service then myself and my girlfriends.

Poorly stocked. Smallest. Samples. Ever.

While this Sephora is undoubtedly a wee satellite Sephora, nestled-​just a bit incongruously inside the Northgate JCPenney-​I was surprised it does not yet exist on Unilocal.It should! I think these Sephora staffers are the sweetest ones in all of Seattle, and if you’re looking for lots of help, you’ll be better (more lavishly, thoughtfully, and lengthily) attended to here than at the University location.
I was in with my mom this time; we were laughing and… well, extroverted, and were fortunate to be helped for a good long time by Terri. In addition to being patient and instructive, she was also intelligent, welcoming, and warm-she’s really in her element having fun with makeup, which is pretty infectious. And kind of made me twitch to buy more, as it happens; I went a little bit Pac-​Man through their offerings.
She soldiered right through my entire checklist, and even showed me the arcane mysteries of blush application and the much-​lauded «smoky eye.» It’s as if I instantly downloaded, Matrix-​style, 900 hours of Allure beauty tutorials in one sitting. More relevant, too, because generalized instruction may not apply to your face or feature shape; there’s nothing quite like a well-​trained person customizing instruction just to your particularities.
