Seattle Conservatory of Music

My daughter is a student at Seattle Conservatory of Music. First, I want to say that SCM is definitely NOT CLOSED! It is very much open for business — although classes are not in session (July). They will resume in September. Classes are held every Saturday at Seattle Pacific University in Seattle’s Queen Anne neighborhood — for kids from three through high school. The faculty is top-​notch, and the goal is to provide pre-​college curriculum and performance coaching on a par with that of Juilliard’s pre-​college program. SCM also offers students plenty of performance opportunities in weekly peer-​reviewed performance classes and in a series of outreach concerts. They also offer a chamber music program that meets on Mondays at Greenlake United Methodist Church. The chamber groups perform twice a year. SCM has a web site (
) and a facebook page. My daughter is a serious violinist and is preparing for college auditions. I don’t think there’s any better place in the northwest region for a serious young musician to get the training and coaching they need in order to succeed in getting into the college/​conservatory of their choice.
