Seattle Chess Club

Went to several tournaments. And what can I say, SCC is the place to be. If i lived in seattle i would diffinitely go there every time they have games. Good place to play and learn.

The Seattle Chess Club is the place to be! I’ve played in MICA (Miami) where Becerra plays and at the Marshall (NYC) where Nakamura grew up as a chess player and have strong views on how a chess club should be run. SCC has a wonderful culture where post-mortem’s are plenty, strong players are accessible and tournaments are frequent. The laid-​back atmosphere gives even weaker players the feeling that they belong. There are monthly quads and tornados, and even on Wednesday evenings, I was delighted to find 2100 players ready for blitz or bughouse. I’ve generally been a 30 game/​year tournament player for the last 10 years, but with the comfortable atmosphere at the Seattle Chess Club, I find myself going for 100 games this year. Be warned, once you become a part of the SCC family, you may never be able to leave :)
