Not consistent… I went in the fall and they had a 75⁄25 Burger, beef and confit pork belly, bibb lettuce, roma tomatoes, porter stone-ground mustard, bone marrow aioli. This was on a «Seasonal» menu and was excellent. I returned last weekend and was pleased to see the same burger on the«regular» menu, so I ordered it and was quite disappointed, It was dry and about 2″ smaller than the bun, it seems that the quality and size have taken a sharp downward turn. A steak salad was also ordered, it was asked to be prepared medium well, but was delivered vary rare and a replacement took nearly 30 minutes. I think success is overwhelming what was once a nice restaurant.

This brewery in SODO is pretty easy to get to, has ample parking, and serves awesome beer. They are kid-friendly, and in the last few years they’ve added a restaurant that is just as good as the beer. Great food, good ambiance, family friendly, 3-Grid IPA, and good service come together to create a brewpub experience that is tough to match. They also have a weekend brunch that sounds good, but I’ve not yet tried it.

Good beer and good food and nice patio. The food is pricier than I would expect but their gnocchi is home made so that tells you a bit about the quality. Great service, glad I stopped in.

This is a nice place to stop on the ride home from Seattle wether you cycling like me or driving like most. The staff is friendly & greets you promptly with a smile. It’s a microbrewery with a place for kids to play. How great is that? They offer a tasty selection of beers & their Happy Hour has a small but tasty selection. I look forward to more visits in the near future.

Very impressed with Schooner. After my first visit, I’m willing to put it up there as one of the better breweries in Seattle. 1) Amazing service. Granted, it was a Sunday evening. But still, the guy checked up on us, kept our water full, chatted a bit, thanked us sincerely for coming in, and was generally great 2)Pork belly BLT was amazing. Loved the side salad as well. I thought it was a perfect dinner sized portion 3)Beer is really great — had the Evergreen IPA and was impressed 4)The dining room was closed when we got there, but the bar/tasting area was just fine! They also have space to sit outside Overall, a very pleasant visit. The food was exceptional and the beer is definitely good. I enjoyed it quite a bit!

Great brewery in SODO! Never would have known this place existed if I wasn’t meeting friends there. Great selections of brews, and AWESOME food. Try the squash risotto. Trust me. I had the Schooner Hef, kind of banana-ey, but in a refreshing way.

Before I jump in, I am hoping my next experience is slightly better so I can give them five stars… I really want to give them five stars but just can’t from my first visit. Overall, the main point of going was for the beer. I love the Hopvine, but was really excited to try more and was very much looking forward to a flight. Unfortunately, you don’t get to pick your beers for the flight. I really wanted to do a side by side IPA comparison but that was not in the cards for me — so I ordered what I know and stuck to the Hopvine. Suggestion: for such a high price on a flight($ 15) — how about giving us the option of what we want to try, or at least give us a beer type option(i.e. IPA flight, Ale flight, etc)? We had food, and it was delicious. I just wish the portion size matched the dollar amount. I had a Brussels sprout hash(yummy Brussels, potatoes, red pepper strips with a poached egg on top) and it was $ 12. While I don’t mind paying $ 12 for a good veggie dish, I was still hungry after cleaning my bowl — and the poached egg was overdone so no running yolk. I chalk this up to the kitchen being overwhelmed by the large group that will now discuss. It also took a very long time for our waitress to take our order, and even longer to get our food. We were at the establishment for nearly 2.5 hours(45 mins of waiting, another hour to get our order and a little shy of an hour to finish our food and pay the bill). If you arrive and there is a wait, and you are on a time restraint… I wouldn’t recommend sticking around. We arrived around 1:00 and the place was jam packed, we ended up having to wait nearly 45 minutes for a seat to open up. There was what we were calling a «mommy and me» large group taking up most of the seats. I don’t know if this is the norm, but it seemed no. There seemed to be folks who came across as «regulars» who seemed perplexed when they arrived. We watched at least five couples leave before getting seated, so I suppose waiting for a seat is unusual. When you walk in there are the taps, a bar with barstool seating and two larger«community» tables. Off to the left is an actual«dining room» with four top tables that can be pulled together, or broken apart. Overall, the space is plenty, but with a large group of 20+, it felt very crowded. Parking is also tight, but again if each of the people in the large group drove, this may be why parking was a bit of a joke. I’ll definitely go back. I’m curious to know if my experience is the norm, or if I happened in on an off day. If this experience is the norm, my second trip will be my last — so hoping for a better experience.

I wanted to like this brewery more than I actually did. I found the prices to be too much for its worth, especially for the food. I ordered a flight, and was ready to tell the bartender which eight beers I wanted to try, but six of the beers are already pre-selected, so really you can only choose two — all for 15 bucks. It’s by far the priciest flight I’ve ever purchased. Although I did like that they had Tieton Cider as a rotating handle, they wouldn’t allow me to fill a growler with it. I also asked if I could just buy an empty growler for my collection, which they said was not permitted. That was a first. For brunch I ordered the burger, which the bartender recommended. Unfortunately, I was not impressed. The burger was dry, even though it wasn’t overcooked. It needed some sort of sauce on it or cheese. The stiff buns also didn’t help with that factor either. The egg, especially with a somewhat runny yolk was good, as well as the side greens, but those were the only parts of the burger I enjoyed. I gave most of it to my friend to take home. My friend ordered the Pork Sausage Eggs Benedict and had better luck with his entrée. He really liked the dijon sauce on the poached eggs. The bar/brewery itself is cool. The bartender was nice, bathroom is clean, and there is a parking lot, which in Seattle, is freaking amazing. Next time I come here I’d just order an IPA and try a different entrée.

This was a really nice place to catch brunch at. Beer is the highlight and like the beer menu the food menu rotates. Had the steak melt which was ok, but the highlight was the breakfast enchiladas. Tortillas were really good. Had a taste of the kids Mac n cheese and it was really good too. Beers here always satisfy.

Their steak salad is amazing. Macaroni and cheese was pretty good but I’m not a fan of corn, especially sweet corn in mac and cheese. Prices were good and even though the menu is somewhat«tapas» oriented, quantities were sufficient. Our server was outstanding. The only issue was they don’t serve well drinks, okay I know-it’s a brewery. But still, many breweries serve well drinks. Ample parking which is refreshing for Downtown Seattle. A little off the beaten path(industrial area) but how perfect a location for a brewery.

Amazing beers, food and employees. I make it here several times a month and have not had less than a great experience. Hopvine, evergreen and Zeeks are just some of their great beers. A great place to stop at before a mariner game or just because.

Great beer! The atmosphere is nice and the staff is friendly. As far as food goes my friend and I ordered the flatbread and the Mac and cheese and weren’t big fans. If you plan to order the flatbread plate ask how it comes because I’m sure it won’t be as you expect. But I was there primarily for the beer and I was not disappointed.

Great range of beer styles represented and each one was very solid. Typically when you get so many on a list there’s a couple that fall flat, but everything I tried really delivered which is rare. Great food options and breadth of choices, even for kids. The menu was a step up from typical brewery fare and was executed well. Other reviews have complained about the prices but I think this is a place where you’re getting what you pay for. I can’t wait to return.

Beer was really good, had the sour for $ 6 a goblet, however the crowd in there was really shady with old farts, bartender looked scared everytime a guy would walk in from the back area she would spin in circles instead of chilling. also prices for the beer on tap were missing in action along with IBU etc … Plenty of parking and its easy to miss :) I would not return specially after driving in circles to get here

First time in! I like the location, tucked away in Sodo where traffic is light and parking isn’t an issue. The beers are really tasty. We decided to have a flight to experience all they had to offer. I enjoyed the Raspberry Wheat, which I found surprisingly delicious as fruit forward as it was. My boyfriend loves IPAs and thoroughly enjoyed their selection. Everything is on tap including the guest wine and ciders they offer which I thought was neat. For food we shared the Pork Belly Mac & Cheese which was incredibly good. The mornay sauce wasn’t at all overwhelming the way it sometimes can be and I loved that they threw fresh roasted corn kernels in there as well. It seems odd in Mac and cheese but the corn added a sweetness that upped the ante along with a subtle crunch giving the dish some well deserved texture. Of course the pork belly was very good as well. I gave 4 stars mostly because I found the prices to be high for what you get. Granted the food is delicious and the beer worth it, so really I mean in terms of quantity not quality.

Went here with my wife and 3-month old baby yesterday. Kid-friendly place(dining room)…there were 4 other couples with kids in the place. Nice bar area for sports watchers/beer drinkers too… unfortunately the Seahawks lost while we were there :( Wife had pork sausage benedict and thought it was awesome. I had the burger and it was solid. Beer was the bourbon barrel aged stout which was great. The building itself was clean, spacious and well-designed. This will be our go-to place from now on!

Really nice selection of house made brews. I’ve had a few of their beers and they’ve all been quite tasty. I’m currently enjoying their barrel — aged sour beer and it’s really well made. Nice flavor profile, very drinkable. Their food looks very well prepared too. Not a huge portion, but just enough after a solid day at the office. Pretty cool little place.

Thanks Unilocalers! We were looking for a nice dinner joint with great beer that welcomes offspring, and trusted in Unilocal. We were not disappointed! Yum! The food was incredible! We got a flight and enjoyed all the beer… even got a growler of Brave Horse Ale. Our kids loved the food… our 14 year old practically licked his plate and our 10 year old scarfed down her pizza bread. We will definitely make this a frequent stop when in the area.

Not sure if I wasn’t too crazy about this place because I was coming off the high of Seapine… All I know is I wasn’t overly impressed. Sat down with a group who was already there. The server came around and asked us if we wanted food or menus. We just asked for the sampler. Unfortunately the sampler is a predetermined set of 6, and then you get to choose 2 seasonal beers. 8 samplers for $ 15. Not a great deal. Another high priced sampler flight. I had already had 3 out of the 8 beers. So to me it was kind of a waste. None of them wowed me. The best part was the server hooked us up with stickers! Normally $ 1 or $ 2 but he gave them for free so that was rad. Maybe the next time I’m in the hood, I’ll swing by again for a full pint of something new and not go for the flight.

This place is a bit difficult to find at night, so make sure you pay attention to the folding signs they lay out on the sidewalk. Food we had: Pork belly Sandwich — Fantastic! Gnocchi — a little on the light side but good as well. If you decide to sit bar side be prepared for communal tables(I’m not the biggest fan of them). We will be back.

This is strictly a breakfast menu review from a vegetarian perspective, unfortunately no beer this AM either. My lady and I were instantly attracted to the roasted mushroom Benedict with porter hollandaise sauce(B+), she had the morning salad side(which she reports was too lemony«like biting into a lemon») and I, the poblano pepper hash(C+), the veggies and potatoes — slight mushy. The Benedict was bold, rich, and the flavor was full frontal attack. I would have never thought of adding beer to my breakfast sauce, Schooner Exact executed it well. I will be back to DRINK all the beers, and try the evening menu.

I was really impressed with Schooner and how they accommodated us. We had a baby with us and they had a baby chair and some markers/paper all ready to go for her! How grateful we were! The beers are outstanding– I tried two of their IPAs and really enjoyed both. Really refreshing and crisp! We ended up dining here in the dining room and I was more than impressed with the food. At the breweries I’ve gone to that serve food(Lagunitas, Russian River) — it’s usually your typical pub-like fare like burgers/fries, flatbreads, nachos, etc. Schooner was had a solid kitchen and menu offering — we dined family style and ordered the salmon with soba noodles($ 21), shared the Bone Marrow($ 17), and a Carpaccio/Crudo(thicker slices of meat though than traditional Carpaccio) — $ 10. Overall — the food was hearty but more refined than typical Brewery restaurants which led us to really spend the entire evening here in the end. Everyone ordered various beers that all seemed to be popular. Overall — a solid option for a meal any time of day topped with solid beer– I will be back!

Schooner is located in Seattle’s SODO(SOuth of DOwntown) district, and it wasn’t easy to find. I admit, even with Google maps, I am still a bit directionally challenged. The space is separated into 3 compartments: an outside patio area with picnic tables, the bar area also where the beer fermenters are, and then dining area. Now you can have beer and food in all 3 areas, so don’t think that it’s compartmentalized for only those purposes. Also, it’s kid and dog friendly(well-behaved dogs, that is, which means one of my dogs won’t be welcome :/). Anyway, I like Schooner beer, so we had to go check out their brewery. Actually it’s more a brew pub than a brewery. They serve food here, and although I didn’t have any of their offerings, their menu looks pretty good. Maybe I’ll partake on another occasion. But let’s get real, I’m here for the beer! So I’ve had the Gallant Maiden Hefeweizen, Gateway Golden Ale, and the Berlinerweisse Sour(with raspberry syrup). All 3 beers were really good, but the stand out was the Berlinerweisse. The addition of the raspberry syrup really cut through the sourness of the beer and added a nice fruity finish. Now in regards to their Sours, it varies throughout the year. They also offer a few IPAs, Porters, and Barrel Aged beers, among others. I’m looking forward to trying their Barrel Aged beers on our next outing there. Also, if you have people in your group who don’t enjoy beer, they have both red and white wine taps and cider taps, too! And the staff here are super friendly and welcoming!

Dog-friendly, outdoor seating, and spectacular beer. Who needs more? Not to mention that the food is really good. Schooner Exact is a great spot to catch a game or just hang out. The service is awesome and everyone we met that works there was really nice. They enjoyed our dog’s visit, and they were great to chat with. The beer they produce is phenomenal. That’s all there is to it. I like that the brewery is located somewhat out of the fray of downtown(shoot south down 1st Ave toward SODO). My recommendation: grab your self a glass of their Berliner Weisse. Sour ales are growing in popularity with the brew-culture, and Schooner Exact makes a pretty darn good one.

You know that feeling you get when you walk into an ethnic restaurant, and you’re the only person there that’s not from that ethnic group? That feeling of «Oh yeah, baby. We’s about to get all authentic up in here!» I love that feeling! So what do you get when you enter a NW style brew-pub with tons of white folks sporting flannel, button shirts and black-rimmed glasses? You get great food, beer, and all sorts of awesome. That’s what. Enter: the Schooner Exact Brewing Company. Jokes aside — I really, really like this place. The food here is fantastic. We got to try some pancakes, an omelette, and the BLAT(bacon, lettuce, avocado, and tomato) sandwich. If I could give one piece of advice — get the BLAT. They sub out the bacon with pork belly, and the Macrina bakery roll they use is perfect. For me, I say it’s the #2 sandwich in all of Seattle.(#1 goes to a place that has gotten in trouble for not paying their workers a decent wage). The beer. Oh Lord, I wish I could write a good review about the beer. But good beer must be savored; and with kids in tow, our mission was to eat and jet. We didn’t get a chance to try the beer; but 100+ other reviews on Unilocal can’t be wrong. Right? Lastly, the facilities: PARENTS — this is truly a kid-friendly place with great food, great service, and a very comfortable atmosphere. There is a play area for kids. Kids’ drinks come in stainless steel sipping bottles. The tables are actually giant chalk boards. There’s even a Vespa shop next door if you need a place to explore while waiting for food. Bottom Line — Two thumbs way up for this place. The prices are a buck or two higher than other pubs; but it’s worth it for the quality food and comfortable atmosphere.

I’m not from Seattle, but this seems like a crazy place for a brewery. It’s deep in an industrial complex next to a Vespa store. Not bad, just crazy. I really like the big open doors giving the place a nice flow. We had just eaten brunch, otherwise I would have ordered food to eat here. I didn’t know they had food, sadly. It all looked outstanding. The Black IPA I had was super tasty. The people working were very kind. I ordered a kale salad to take back home to CA with me, having it for dinner that night after the plane ride. The lemon dressing was awesome and the cheese on it was delish.

It really is tucked back in an industrial complex, a little hard to find. I only tried the beer which was great. At the time I was there(1:45pm — Sunday) they said I could only order from the brunch menu. The brunch menue looked more like a breakfast menu at a pancake joint so I decided to go with only beer. Maybe it’s my conservative midwestern background but; pancakes, scrambled eggs with bacon and beer did not exactly apeal to me. I shall not criticize, there were plenty of families with kids in the place who looked like they were enjoying the food. I had the Gallant Maiden Hefeweizen which, even by my standards, was pretty good. Crisp, sweet, but just a bit too light, but I would order again. I must come back after they stop serving breakfast, the non-brunch menu looks very interesting.

Ballard often times gets lauded for it’s concentration of ten local microbreweries in a two mile radius, but, you know what, South Seattle ain’t exactly chopped liver in this area. There are eleven microbreweries in a radius that is just over two miles. So, hey — we like beer down here, too! As familiar as I am with the beer scene in and around Georgetown, I must say that I was caught a little off guard that Schooner Exact was serving food. I remember the days of rotating food trucks on Fridays and Saturdays in their parking lot. Armed with the knowledge that these guys were now operating a bona fide restaurant, I recently made my way over there to check it out. Not knowing how busy they were going to be, I exercised some caution and showed up right around opening at 11:00 Saturday morning. It was pretty quiet. I ordered a Profanity Hill Porter and perused the menu. I opted for the McClung Steak Melt. I was tempted briefly by their Pulled Pork sandwich because after almost an entire year of writing this series I haven’t posted any pulled pork sandwiches, but I was hungry for steak and the stomach wants what the stomach wants. The bartender offered me the option of adding bacon and I was powerless to resist. The sandwich came out in pretty short order, so, after a few photos, I got to dig right in. First off, the bun was terrific! Light, airy and yet firm enough to hold the integrity of the sandwich together. It was also toasted, which is nice. The steak was thinly sliced sirloin and was tender and delicious! The Swiss cheese was nicely melted on top of the steak which rested ever so gently on top of a layer of Mama Lil’s peppers. On top of the steak and cheese was a fried egg and the addition of crispy bacon that I requested. Each half of the bun received a liberal schmear of smoky mayo. It was a tasty sandwich! It was a solid concept and it was executed very well. In the end the bacon neither added nor detracted from the overall sandwich. Next time, I’d probably skip it. It would have been hard not to like this sandwich. There is just something about Mama Lil’s pickled peppers and beef that is a great pairing So, if you try to get into brunch at Hudson and are faced with a 45 minute to an hour wait, you might just want to venture up the road to Schooner Exact. Their brunch menu may not be a s extensive as Hudson’s, but what they do, they do exceedingly well and, for now at least, there doesn’t seem to be a wait.

Okay beer okay food cool location okay service = 3 stars in my books. Their beer flight includes 6 year around beer + 2 seasonal for 15 dollars. 4 oz each so… that’s about 2 pints of beer. I think it’s a bit much. I prefer 2 or 3 oz tasters. Their beer was pretty solid. Overall though their beer was a bit too thin in mouthfeel for me, including the Imperial Stout. Food was very… mediocre. I ordered Baby Back Ribs and Pulled pork sliders(6 bucks each during HH — great deal IMO) and both had bold flavors but just didn’t taste that great. On the ribs all I tasted was french mustard(it didn’t taste much like aiolo). Buns were too dry on the sliders and so was the meat. I love the space though. Interior is so clean(including the bathroom — one of the cleanest brewery bathrooms I have seen next to The Bruery in SoCal). I had a pretty good time here. They accept Visa. Didn’t ask whether they took other cards. They have some limited private parking in front of the brewery.
