Salmon’s Service Centers

Had another used vehicle inspected at Salmon’s and very happy with the solid assessment we got, especially later in the day on a Sunday, not long before they were due to close. Very thankful to have been able to get that done on a Sunday, as we ended up buying it. After some needed repairs recommended by Salmon’s, it runs like even more of a champ, and we are super confident with our purchase! Big thanks to all, especially Larry and Shawn!

As I was leaving home, I noticed the left rear tire in my Ford F-​150 was low. I stopped by the Salmon’s Chevron to put some air in and noticed there was a huge nail (turns out it’s a surveyor’s nail) in the tire. I didn’t get his name but the gentleman there not only fixed my tire, but also checked the pressure on all of them as well as the spare. And all for no charge! Where do you ever find that these days???

I’ve called Salmon’s in the past when my car wouldn’t start. They were great and offered a few suggestions on tow truck options. I was lucky and didn’t have to use them, however I stopped by Saturday to get a right rear bulb replaced. Martin was awesome, and brought out his tools immediately and replaced the bulb for me within 10 minutes. Wow! He rescued me from getting rear ended with such a quick fix. Thank you Salmon’s!

Solid place to get gas. Never had an issue. Customer service has always been good. Never gotten any maintenance done here but they always look busy. Gas is always pretty good priced for being chevron. Just recently got my tank filled for only $ 30.

Employ caution if you aren’t mechanically inclined.
A long time family friend brought her truck here after it died on the freeway. It made catastrophic damage — indicating sounds. The technician advised a new engine which they would kindly install for $ 7,000.00. HA HA HA. Do they pay you commission for your comedy?
This truck is only worth $ 2,000 at most. She gifted the truck to me to for metal scrap. An exceedingly competent mechanic of mine consulted the vehicle and identified that the malfunctioning part is a broken valve spring, which costs under $ 5.00. Larry, the manager, although very pleasant and presumably very smart, suggested it was the timing chain skipping or stretching. Or it could be this, or it could be that, or even this, or even that.
You are paid a diagnostic fee to utilize your skills in identifying problems, not abdicating your duties and victimizing consumers.
SHAME on you for taking advantage of this person. I hope this is a rare occurrence, but it sufficiently guides me to never consider this place for my future automotive needs.

My car overheated and needed quite a bit of work. They were able to take it and start working immediately. The cost for the repairs was actually less than the estimate they gave me, which was great and shows how scrupulous this shop is. Not only did they fix my overheating issue, but fixed up a few minor issues as well at no extra cost. I highly recommend this service center and will continue to take my car here!

Got my flat tire fixed by Martin for $ 16 in 15 minutes! Discount tire and Costco wanted to burn me with over $ 150 charge!
Car is up and running and I learned from Martin a lot.

Been going to Larry’s for years. Great service; they’ve often gotten my car in on a moment’s notice. Very honest; very fair pricing. And sometimes they don’t even charge me for labor on a very tiny job. Amazing. Highly recommended.

I just do not know what I would do without you. I am thrilled that I have brakes again on my 2001 S-​10. I really did not care how long it took, I just wanted it right. You and your team went above and beyond my expectations.
In the future I will no longer go to the Bunny guy down the street. Your team has me sold. And being a bus driver I am posting your Chevron facility on our board as top notch mechanics that know how to diagnose and repair the first time!!!
Also my 83 year old mom just loves the service. Pick up and delivery, not to many stations provide that service anymore. Full service at the toot of a horn, way cool.

Will echo other comments about this place being a ripoff.
My car failed the emissions test 2 years ago, so I needed to get it fixed or pay $ 150 in repairs towards a waiver. Salmon told me I needed to replace the mass air flow sensor, and charged me the requisite $ 150 for their diagnosis. Their quote to replace the sensor was $ 2k, around the value of my car. I specifically asked them why it was so expensive, and was told, «The sensor is in a very difficult to reach place, and difficult to change.» Needless to say I didn’t do the repair.
Fast forward to today — again failed smog/​emissions. This time, I thought I’d google it to see what the repair would entail. Found the part at O’Reilly’s for $ 70. Was surprised to find out the sensor is at the very top of the engine, easily accessible. I changed it myself in less than 30 mins.
I realize that businesses need to make money, but charging $ 2k for a 20 min job with a $ 70 part is absolutely highway robbery.
Think twice about going to this place.

John completely saved my day! I was visiting Seattle from SF and my brakes went out late on Saturday night. Very few shops are open on Sunday. I brought my car into him, really needing it to get fixed quickly so I could make it back to work in SF. John was incredibly helpful. Once he figured out that the car ahead of mine needed much more extensive engine work than anticipated, he then started working on my car. He fixed the brakes and I was able to leave Seattle on Sunday afternoon and get back to SF in time. John was very nice, helpful, good at communicating through the process and my brakes work great! I am so Thankful!

I have used Salmon;s Service Center on 125^th & 15^th for over 20 years. They have worked on at least five of my vehicles. I am prompted to write this review because I just had an AMAZING experience with them.
Yesterday, driving down I-​5 a vehicle pulled along side of me, signaled to roll my window down. He told me «Dude, you have no brake lights» I took the next exit & sure enough, I had tail lights, directionals, and back up lights but NOTHING when the brakes were applied.
On line research told me it was the electrical switch attached to the pedal. I bought the $ 12 part from the auto store, watched some youtube videos & figured it would be a couple hour job to do it myself. WRONG! I couldnt even get my hands up there to take it out.
A call to Jack at Salmon’s & he told me to bring it in. He checked it out & made the same diagnosis I did. He estimated it would take about an hour of labor and that he could have it done TODAY! I couldn’t believe it!
True to his word a little over an hour later he called & said everything was working fine. He had to actually remove the steering column to get to the part, so I am REALLY glad I didnt try to do that myself!
Thank you again Jack and Salmon’s! I’m continuing to be a VERY satisfied customer!

While I am sure this place would do a car repair competently, I am not down with being ripped off. A while ago I clearly needed a water pump. On my car this is a one hour job requiring a $ 35 part. They quoted me $ 400, and I knew that was a rip off. I can’t stand being ripped off. Instead, I had the job done at another repair shop for about one-​third of the cost, all because I knew what a fair price was.
The attempt at blatantly ripping me off means not only will Salmon not be repairing my car, I will buy my gas elsewhere. If they don’t like it, then they shouldn’t quote $ 400 for a $ 160 job, because if they do, I’m going to tell everyone.

Car trouble can be stressful, especially when you are out of town and it’s the weekend. But Salmon’s lived up to all of its great Unilocal reviews. I was in town for a tradeshow a few months back and my car started to overheat. I was very thankful to find such a great service center. Not only were they able to work on my car on the weekend and have it ready it time for me to get back to work on Monday, but the staff was very professional and though when trouble shooting. So I would like say a big thanks to TYLER and the Salmon’s crew for providing such great service.

Ok… I am ashamed that I don’t know if this place is cheaper than the others. But, this is definitely in a convenient location (just around the corner of where I live).
All the gas pumps looks new and didn’t see any creepy things going here.

The people that work here are amazing. I brought my car in for a diagnostic test after the check engine light came on a couple of weeks ago, for which I was quoted $ 110. I got a call a couple of hours later that my car was done with a bill of only $ 60. When I asked Mitch about the price reduction, he said that the work had taken less time than expected and he couldn’t justify what he originally quoted. Seriously, WHO DOES THAT? I have never, ever received that level of service and integrity at any other auto care center, and do not expect to in the future. My family and I are definitely customers for life!

These guys are awesome! I had a nail stuck in one of my tires which made it flat. After switching it to a spare tire, I came here just 30 minutes before closing to get it fixed. They got the nail out, patched it, and I was back on the road within 15 minutes! It only costs me $ 16 to get the tire patched so it was pretty decent. Great customer service and the team was very friendly and helpful. I will plan on returning here for future car repairs.

My original review:
Had a repair done on my 2004 TDI about 3 months ago, but the part installed must have been defective, as the problem reappeared. The shop could not reproduce the problem, but they fixed it anyway to make it right.
Update:
Went back to my usual shop, Harvey’s Auto. Found out the repair Salmon’s did was done twice with the cheapest possible part, while I was charged full retail. No wonder the repair failed, as the part sucked. The problem that caused this problem was never identified by Salmon’s either. Harvey’s found it and fixed it.

Mitch and his team at Salmon’s are AWESOME. As in FULL OF WIN. :)
I’m trying to save costs from a collision, so I sourced and picked up a new door for my 05 Jetta GLI at a wrecking yard, and Mitch switched out the old for the new, and even went a step further and helped me with some other odd electrical stuff that’s been going on in my car for ages. And that last part was just a courtesy — I had already paid and mentioned it, and they came right out, plugged in, and diagnosed it in a heartbeat!
Great team, super-​smart, and total straight-​shooters. Even if you just need an oil change, I recommend bringing your wheeled baby to Salmon’s. You be glad you did!
(And, if you have to wait, there’s a quaint little coffee shop just a block or so south of them, Treehouse Coffee.)
I will most certainly be back anytime I need something done to my sweet little Jetta-​rocket.

Wow, Very happy with the service we received. The cost was under the quote, he called us 30 minutes before it was supposed to be done, and did a concern check on something that was brought up by the Dealer.
Larry was straight to the point, got the work done was genuinely concerned… all the characteristics of a «local» repair man.
Will most definitely be back for more service…
