Came here on my coworkers’ recommendations but wasn’t too impressed with my experience. Granted, I came on a Tuesday for happy hour, and on the early side, so maybe it was just an off time? We were the only people in there, the décor is very heavy & dark, and the place next door was bustling which made it feel strange that Rob Roy didn’t attract many customers in the time we were there. I’d give it another shot, probably for more of a post-dinner out drink versus happy hour.

Good drinks. Smaller than I thought after reading reviews but service is great. Drinks are great. Good selection isn’t that large. But overall pretty pleased with the place.

fabulous ! they really know how to mix a drink! I asked for a prohibition drink, an old Cuban. many places have no clue what this is. No questions asked as i watched the bartender work his magic. the drink was great as was the service and atmosphere

Superior cocktails. Try the Old Soul while sitting on the leather couch. It worked for me! :)

Great cocktails! Came here on a Friday night after dinner, not crowded and a pretty laid-back bar that reminds me of SF, except with an older crowd. It’s really close to the downtown area and near other bars and restaurants, so its pretty convenient to grab a bite to eat somewhere and go here afterwards. We had the blue bark rickey(really good, not too sweet), gunpowder punch, and a couple other drinks I don’t remember. Wish we had more time because my sister, bf and I wanted to come back here to try their other cocktails!

A good cocktail lounge with semi-swank décor, attentive service, and higher-than-average noise level. Unfortunately I’m boring and typically choose gin & tonic or beer by default, so I haven’t tried their cocktails. The place is almost always a bit busy that it doesn’t make you feel like a lush for drinking on a Tuesday night, but also not too busy that you can always find a spot for 2 – 3 people at any given time. There are a couple larger tables, but the rest of the place is really more conducive for bar seating and for parties less than 4 people. The food menu is a joke… right? The food menu actually says«local eats» across the top and the description hints at gourmet food made with fresh ingredients, but I think that was intended to be sarcastic, poking fun at the farm-to-table, all-natural, Monsanto-hating crowd. The«tender cured beef strips» are beef jerky in a paper bag, and the meatballs and pasta are fresh off the microwave.

Such a nice place. Easy to find and walk to. It’s pretty fancy inside. Narrow though, but a classic bar place. Servers were all so very nice. It’s super expensive here though LOL. Nice 1on1 areas. Good to take dates here too, it was easy to have conversations and share laughs here. Nice cozy vibe here too, and lighting is nice and low.

Great service. Love the nightly happy hour! The drinks are small but mighty and it’s mostly a great deal. Their food menu is kind of random. We ordered a couple of things and the chicken tikka masala was the best — surprisingly! I’d recommend it for drinks over food.

Great drinks! Always a good date /talk spot. I would recommend it most however on non peak hours. ITs not fun when its crowded. Its not designed well for standing room drinking and neither are the cocktails served. Hit it early evening but stay away on Friday /Saturday nights.

Swanky little spot in Belltown. Had a beer with the cousins, and we just sat and chatted. Nice and quiet on a sunday evening. Would return again with friends/family to get a drink or two and enjoy the conversation.

Love this place! Love the décor, the drink menu, the art of mixology and being that I live 2 blocks away, I’ve been a regular for the better part of a year! The service here has been good to great otherwise, but their main bartender gal is the reason that I’m changing my rating from 5 to 1 and will try to find a new place to hang out at after work. I come here for their drinks and I don’t mind waiting. This bartender, even when they are slow, makes a grimace of dissatisfaction if she has to chop ice, or make a flaming drink — making a big deal, loudly asking other staff to get her the tools she should have under hand. She’s plain out unfriendly. When seeing a regular walk in on a date, there is no familiarity to make the guy look good — «Hey there! The usual?» Or, «Welcome back!» Nothing! Asking for a drink refill, or another bottled beer, is replied to with a sigh. And rarely will she condescend to asking you if you’d like something else to drink, unless you are in the middle of a conversation with your friend/date. It’s just plain terrible customer service! I thought it was just me, out it was just a few times, but it’s consistent and a few friends and guys I met at the bar told me of the same experience with her. I can order a cocktail anywhere. But especially if I’m going to fork out $ 15 – 20 for it, I expect the service to be on par with the price!

I’m not going to lie but my friends and I entered this bar on Friday because I had to pee and I was pleasantly surprised with the urinals. This was the first time that I’ve seen citrus fruits arranged nicely inside of the urinal. Kudos to whoever arranged and replaces these fruits on a regular basis. Pure magic. Anywho, their HH the drinks and food are half off, they have FREE goldfish and«phở» ramen(basically a beef cup noodle with one thai basil leaf and a slice of lime). We ordered several drinks and a few of their food items including the meatballs and pasta, breakfast sandwiches, and«phở». Everything I tried was surprisingly good, and the portions were generous. The drinks were amazing, I had a Tom Collins and their punch which was really good. This place is intimate and perfect for small dates. However, since there were 7 of us, it was hard for all of us to sit around the bar and talk as there weren’t very many areas for a larger group of people.

Went there on a Saturday night with two friends at around 10 pm. Place was already packed, but we managed to get a side table with bar stools to sit at. There are two sets of sofas right by the entrance, but those are the first to go. Even though there was just one server, she was at our table promptly and provided great service and drink recommendations. The thing to go here for is the cocktails. We got seven different cocktails to taste, and all of them were unique, excellent and very innovative. I particularly liked the Saffron Sandalwood Sour and the Old Fashioned. They are slightly on the expensive side, but still worth every penny. The décor is classy, and the interiors are well done. It is perfect for a date night, or to start off a night before going to the clubs in Belltown. Even the restrooms have cocktail recipes all around their walls. All in all, this is one of the best cocktail bars in Belltown, and I can’t wait to be back for their Happy Hour, and to sit in the patio when it’s summer again.

Swanky bar with really really good drinks. Went with the girlfriend on a Monday night and it wasn’t too packed. Started off with two shots of Thug Passion, which was sweet and delicious. Star of the show was definitely the Old Fashioned though. Just might be the best Old Fashioned I’ve ever had. Perfect mix of sweet and bitter served with a giant ass ice ball. Get it.

Came here during a Saturday evening of cocktail bar hopping. Great atmosphere. Comfy barstools and friendly staff. The drinks were awesome. The menu was full of funny little surprises. I love places like this, who are great at what they do, but at the end of the day don’t take themselves too seriously. The bathroom is kinda neat – the walls are covered in handwritten cocktail recipes.

I absolutely love Rob Roy. Photos really don’t do this dark, sexy watering hole justice at all. Be sure to come early and curl up on one of their gorgeous leather couches with a hand-crafted cocktail or two, and take it all in. Their drink menu has some extremely interesting drink choices, and while it does take longer than other places to receive your drink, what you get is bound to be incredible. The only gripe my guy had was that there were no goldfish crackers out as promised on their website, but small price to pay for a fantastic time!

Belltown is decidedly not my jam. Especially at prime time on Friday or Saturday nights. However there are some diamonds in this rough patch of town, and Rob Roy is easily one of them. Stop in here on any given day that doesn’t start with Fri or Satur and you’re sure to enjoy amazing cocktails, sexy atmosphere, laid-back bartenders, excellent service, and… did I mention the cocktails? They’re damn good. The drinks here are super legit. And that’s all you really need to know. The bartenders don’t have that pretentious attitude that often accompanies drinks of this caliber. They also have some delicious Aquavit pickle-backs, and, well, I’ve never put anything in my mouth hole that’s not delicious. I don’t mean to hate too much on this hood or its weekend insanity, it’s just not my speed at that time. If you like packed bars and a more scene-y atmosphere, this part of town would be your jam, and at least you could come to a bar like Rob Roy and get some damn good drinks while you’re out doing that thang. For me, I’ll take any other given night of the week.

Now this Belltown neighborhood place is just too cool. Catchy, swanky, jazzy, enchanting… just cool — can you dig it? Anthony Bourdain ended up at RRs after«Renee(Erickson) and Matt(Dillon) suggest Rob Roy after my [his] epic meal.» We ended up there by default, waiting for a table to open at a nearby restaurant. The name Rob Roy may sound more like a greasy burger joint or a dive bar, but when you walk into this lounge — look up Rob Roy in the dictionary and a picture of its interior with be there — you know you’ve found something special. From the tufted leather on the walls, flagship stones behind the bar, dimly lit with just the right shades of color, and a small wall of vinyl that would make even the greatest of collectors jealous — they certainly know how to pick the tunes — Rob Roy oozes«chill.» The barkeep are super friendly and know how to make some killer cocktails. Monday nights are Tiki Night with specialty cocktails like«Balsa Raft» — delish! During happy hour, you get free goldfish crackers and«Faux Phở Noodles» if you please. I could see myself hanging out and chatting with friends, having some good drinks and a snack for at least an hour or two on any given night. RECOMMEND. TIPS: Happy hour is from 4 – 7. Half off apps; a few discounted wines and brews. [124 in 2015]

Nice lounge in Belltown, one of my go to spots to come by where it isnt all bro’d out, well maybe on a weekend night it can be. Nice & chill place to come to have a drink after work on a weekday, actually able to have a conversation with a friend vs screaming across the table. Its not a huge place but they do have a small outside spot, couches to sit, ledge & stools to sit next to the wall, and a few high top tables. Modern looking décor, dark, dimly lit, dark woods and nice lighting. Cocktail drinks are great, beer selection is ok, they also have wine and champagne drinks as well. Located next to a bunch of other places if you plan on hopping around in Belltown for drinks, but overall I really like Rob Roy! Complimentary Goldfish snacks to snack on during HH, but I think you have to pay otherwise.

If you’re in Seattle, definitely check this place out. Probably one of the best cocktail bars in the city. It’s a small little place in Belltown but once you go in the atmosphere is really nice and warm, kind of like you’re going into someones living room to relax. A good general rule of thumb for gauging how good a bar is is by the quality of their ice. We had ordered a couple of negroni’s before heading out to dinner, and the bartender took out a massive piece of crystal clear ice and started hand cutting it! I’ve yet to see this at any other bar that I’ve been to in Seattle. They also try to push new and interesting cocktails as well. As others have mentioned, they have a drink that has actual gunpowder inside, and it was actually really good! You have to be a crazy person to come up with an idea where you balance gin and gunpowder. If you’re ever around belltown, you don’t want to miss this place.
