Sushi tasted good – for the first 15 minutes until I wished I never ate it. This may be more an issue with my own body than the restaurant, but if you have any, even minute, idea that you may be sensitive to MSG, do not risk eating here or at least avoid the sushi. Had a spicy tuna roll and experienced sever MSG side effects – face became flaming hot and turned red like a lobster, migraine, swollen mouth. Never happened to me before ever and this was my first time at the restaurant. ER said symptoms were casebook MSG reaction.

The restaurant is under new ownership and owner is really hands on and cares about the quality of the product she is putting out. I am super picky about food and love her food. The sushi is fresh and well made. Tonkatsu curry was fabulous. I had Kalbi tacos delicious the dressing has a great kick. Love love this resturant.

There are times when a bad review is a necessary public service. Despite its cheer and good-natured staff, this place is… genuinely awful. Not just«not great,» or «bad like supermarket sushi» bad. But BAD bad, as in, «gastrointestinal roulette» bad. I ordered the house roll and everything was wrong with it. Bland, gluey rice. Rubbery, unchewable nori. And the fish! It was beyond suspect: fibrous and hard to chew, with some pieces actually slimy. Needless to say I didn’t finish, but I did eat enough to hear my guts rumbling like boots in a washing machine two hours later. Just don’t do it. I mean it.

Not sure if all these bad reviews are for the downtown location or for a different one, but I had a great experience. I ordered the rainbow roll, and it was delicious. The roll was a little loose, but it was stuffed to the brim so no complaints here. The service was friendly and quick. I was the only one in the store at 4pm. Perhaps they get overwhelmed by a lunch rush and the quality suffers. It is a small place. I’ll be back to try more rolls!

This place wasn’t that bad for being cheap, quick sushi. I got exactly what I ordered and the spicy tuna was actually spicy. Great customer service, and really good box specials. I would definitely eat here again.

I have never received such excellent customer service at a Japanese food restaurant. The couple that is always there — who I am assuming are the owners of the restaurant — are as nice and accommodating as you can get. The food is good and for the price it’s unbeatable. I came to Seattle on business and ate at many restaurants but this one was by far the best value. Consistent and caring, I can honestly say that if this restaurant was in my hometown I would be a regular customer.

Inconsistent. The first time I went there, I ordered a noodle dish. It was okay, and I went back a couple of days later and ordered the same dish again. This second time, it came with weird dressing on the accompanying salad that wasn’t on the salad the first time I ordered the dish. To make matters worse, they turned my takeout box upside down so that this gross dressing smeared all over all the food.

This place has the worst chicken teriyaki I have ever tasted. Also, I asked for some water and was given brown water from the hot water machine with some ice in it which tasted like old coffee.

I decided to give this place a try with my friends today for lunch. We all ordered sushi combos so I suppose it’s my fault that I walked out of there without checking my deceptively heavy bag and realizing I had been given not a box of sushi, but a gigantic bowl of foul smelling tofu. When we got there, there was only one other person ordering and it still took about ten minutes for us to get our orders. There was also a heater that was blowing with the strength of a small solar flare right into my face. The wait time to get our food and heater would not have mattered had my order been even close to correct. As it was, my friends supplemented me with sushi. My friend gave me the majority of her spicy tuna roll… probably the worst tuna I’ve ever had from a place in Seattle. It was decidedly gristly(does tuna even HAVE gristle? This one did) and the flavor was pretty bland. Shoulda been a clue. I, of course,(being the person that walked out with the wrong order and didn’t go back, anyway), proceeded to eat the entire roll because I was famished. Now I feel the need to throw up. Awesome. Lastly, my friend got a spicy tuna roll and California roll in her box. The last piece of her California roll had half a helping of spicy tuna on the back end of it… THECHEFDIDN’T EVENMAKETWOSEPARATEROLLS. Sorry Rice-N-Roll… count me out.

Always stop by the Rice-N-Roll at Safeco Field to get their Ichi-Roll!!! Kinda spicy, but good with soy sauce and wasabi on the side. They make good sushi. Very friendly staff that provides good customer service. Sushi fanatics/lovers should stop by this place for some of the best sushi in Seattle! Very professional chefs that makes sushi at a rapid pace.

Got a bellevue roll today. The rice was mushy, the roll wasn’t very tight(things were falling out when you pick it up), the fish piece was small, and very fishy. I stopped eating after a few rolls, and went back to the restaurant. The lady looked really angry when I told her the fish was not fresh, and grabbed my half eaten container away. They did not offer me anything else but I don’t know if I’d want anything else from there.

Popped in after the lunch hour and got a Combo 4(8 pc split with Spicy Tuna and Avocado). The sushi tasted good and pretty fresh. Felt hefty in the to-go box. The gal with subtly highlighted hair was pleasant.

I picked up the Nigri + Roll combo today for lunch. In one word, my lunch was«nasty». The tuna was really vinegary and the roll was warm and mushy. Even the Miso soup was uneatable! I defn wont be a return customer to this downtown sushi café.

I like the one on Rainier. The ramen is wonderful, and even more delicious if you eat it outside. It warms you right up! I like the spicy tuna roll. They don’t skimp on the watsabi. The only thing that was weird was the bubble tea. It wasn’t blended and was only half full. However, I’ve only ordered it once, so maybe the employees make it better than the fellow who helped me? I will be back soon. I think they have closed… Bummer.

I went to grab quick sushi for lunch and thought this place would be good. Their marketing and packaging makes it look better than it actually was. I got a combo of spicy tuna and crab rolls. The sushi has so much rice that it almost makes you gag since you know it’s not fresh and it has some sort of chemical on it used to make it sticky. The seaweed is not fresh either and was so tough I just stopped eating. The edamame served alongside is definitely microwaved and then put in the fridge until they serve it. I would not recommend eating sushi from this place. You’re better off spending a little extra and going to a sit down place. I’m still on the hunt for good, fresh sushi in the Pioneer Square area. In four years I still haven’t found it.

This is a tiny hole-in-the-wall place, which is fine with me. I went a bit before noon, so I didn’t have to deal with crowds. I tried the veggie rice-n-bowl with brown rice. It consisted of rice, stir-fried veggies, and tofu. I think there was a little bit of some sort of sauce on it, then it came with a little container of sauce on the side. The food by itself was bland, so I added the sauce. It was a very one-note sweet sauce. I appreciated the simplicity of the meal — brown rice and veggies is one of my favorite meals. But the sticky sweet sauce needed more interesting flavors. Overall, the meal was very boring and unsatisfying.

I actually ate at the one on Rainier but there is no link for that one yet. Not sure why. Anyway the food at the other one was really great. I had fried shrimp sushi. It was really tasty. And the bubble tea was pretty good to. They need to cook the tapioca a little more but hey it wasn’t Wow, so I wasn’t expecting superior from them. I have to say I would go back anytime.

Microwaved sushi. Yuck. Stick to Imo or the food court on Third for Sushi instead.

This place has gotten a bad rap in previous reviews, and I find I disagree with them for the most part based on this: I approach restaurants like I do movies — it doesn’t need to be the greatest one in the world; it simply needs to be the best at what it’s trying to be. Rice-N-Roll is not attempting to be a gourmet sushi paradise — their aim is to provide sushi, rice rolls, soup, etc. quickly, conveniently, and tasty enough to justify the price, which is pretty cheap. It succeeds on all counts. I go here 2 – 3 times a week, ordering pretty much the same couple of rice rolls(with brown rice — it’s healthier) to go. I spend less than ten bucks, and I’m happy. It’s a tiny, rice-based fast food lunch joint for people on the go — don’t expect it to be more than that, and you’ll be pleasantly surprised. With this particular location, I recommend getting there before noon; by then, there’s a line. You can eat on the premises if you wish, but I wouldn’t — it’s just too small to be comfortable. You’ll find the entrance just inside the parking garage in the middle of Madison.

I have been intermittently going to this place for the past 18 months(it’s just around the corner from my office), and the food has been on a steady decline. My LAST meal here was a heaping helpin’ of solid disappointment, paired with a zesty and seemingly endless dessert of gastroenteritis. My spicy tuna roll was served to me HOT. Not HOT spicy, but hot like the temperature at which you never expect your non-tempura sushi roll to be served, which completely obliterated any possibility that I could power through my utter disappointment at having spent $ 7 + tax for poop soup. My previous experiences here were not as bad, but to use the words that our current president so in-eloquently effed up, «If it happens once, shame on you. If it happens twice, shame on me»
