Thanks for the memories of good times past. Sorry to see it closed permanently. Loved the oma’s congee! Guess Sam and the older ladies have all passed on. Will be missed by our family.

Let me preface this review by saying; if I could give this restaurant a ZERO star rating I would strictly for the unprofessional and bad service that we received! My family and I stopped in here because our favorite restaurant is now closed(hing loon).Little did we know that the service that we were about to receive was one of the WORST in all of my time dining out. There were 4 of us 3 of us ordered from the family style meal and my son ordered from the daily special menu, it took 45 minutes to get our hot and sour soup, when I called the owner over to ask him if we could have it he rolled his eyes at us and made it seem like it was an annoyance. It took an hour and 10 minutes to get our ice waters and pot stickers.. Now having both served and bartended for many years I tend to be slightly more lenient if an establishment is super busy, but they had only 3 other tables when we walked in and they seemed to be settled. HOWEVER when I ask for water I kind of expect that to be given to me straight away. The food was average at best, not horrible, but nothing that I would HAVE to have and go out of my way for. The next time I’m in the international district I think I’ll stick to one of the MANY awesome food stands or the packaged deli that is in Uwajimaya before I would ever step foot in there again.

I’ve gone to this place when I was a little girl. It’s always been small, it’s always been a little slow, but it’s run by a family and old ladies trying to make a living. They’re the same ladies as when I was younger so I guess it makes me empathetic to them. They’ve actually remodeled since I was younger. It is really crowded, and the service is slow. But, this will always be the place I go to for wonton soup, duck, and congee. I’ve never wanted to try anything else besides their chow fun but their congee is always yummy and wonton soup during the winter is really amazing. I love their chicken congee. There is a lot of chicken in it which I like and the congee is always hot and stays warm until I’m full. I can’t say much about other dishes, but I like this place and if anyone I loved was sick, I’d get them congee here for sure.

This is not the place to go to for«service». It’s a small place operated by 2 old ladies. 1 server and 1 cook. It is however a great place to go late night after drinking in belltown. Won Ton Noodle Soup and a half order of duck are all good choices. I like to alternate b/w Kushi Bar(japanese street food) and this joint.

I use to love they’re BBQ duck, but then a whole thing change, the old lady who use to cut up the duck died, I assume she is the cook, now the duck taste alright, but the portion is small, they gave a huge rice and few pieces of the duck that’s all!

I can’t believe people give a bad review because of a small mistake or they expect the Canlis or Space Needle Restaurant. Our family has been going to Ocean City for over 20 years. We love it there. It’s a tradition for us. It is what it is. It’s got great soup dishes, and its regular restaurant menu dishes. My daughters and I love going here and will continue to go here.

I really hate it when people give amazing places bad reviews. I feel like it is my duty to right these wrong doings. Me and my boyfriend go here at least once a week. We have probably tried at least 20 things on the menu and we are always satisfied. The price is the best in Chinatown and you will be happily surprised at the quality and the quantity food. I rec anything off the $ 5 menu, the wonton soup, the BBQ pork and as you can guess by the name of the place… anything with fish in it. Dont take the peoples reviews seriously when they get cranky when their water doesnt get refilled enough times. Welcome to Chinatown. Get over it. The construction next door is not for the same restaurant duh. They are putting in a hot pot place next door Did I mention this is the only place in Chinatown with garage parking besides Uwajimaya?

The food is alright But the service: BIGNOPE!!! Asked for 2 iced water until the 3rd time but still no iced water coming. A lil but later an American came in then the server brought the water for them first instead of us! Maybe she thought that she was not gonna get good tips from Asian so she didnt care about the service but hey, good tips come with good service no matter what race!

Let’s make this short and to the point— Food was alright, not a place I would crave for. Service was horrible so we didn’t leave a tip. Little did we know after getting our change, the owner/server then made a remark as we were heading out the door«the total did not include tip«(obviously we knew that, that’s why we didn’t tip!!!). Never once have i been questioned about leaving a tip or not– This lady waited until we left a dollar on the table before walking away. Will not return for sure!

While participating in an event in the ID, I was tasked with finding take-out food for a group of ~15 people with extremely short notice. Half of this group was vegetarian. After being turned down by another nearby restaurant, I decided to try this one. I’d never been there before, so I had my fingers crossed. Walked in and explained the situation, and they enthusiastically agreed to accommodate the request. They made up a whole assortment of dishes, including BBQ, veggie chow mein, rice, and broccoli in about 20 minutes. The BBQ pork was awesome, and all of it was very tasty. Even the picky eaters in the group were happy with everything. This will be my go-to place in the ID for Chinese food — not just because of the tasty food, but because they were so awesome when tasked with a last minute catering request. But the happy tummy full of yummy BBQ pork definitely helps!

Given the impressive building façade, I was expecting a large restaurant, but it looks like most of it is closed for renovation? The little part that was open was so small that it had kind of a diner-car vibe. There was maybe half a dozen tables. The lunch special looks good on paper. For $ 6.50 you get soup, an egg roll, rice and an an entrée. The soup was good, the egg roll and rice were OK, but the entrée was kind of marginal. I got green bean chicken, which turned out to be green beans in a chicken gravy. Maybe with some bacon bits? It tasted good, but I was expecting some actual chicken. Service was quick, friendly and efficient. I’m guessing that I need to wait for the renovation to be completed, and then see what the ‘real’ restaurant is like.

The worst over-priced food in IAD ever! I spent $ 60 on food & our server/waitress had the decency to ask if I left tip at the table! You didn’t even serve me my food! You decided to cater the other table full of those that spoke their language and it came to the point where I was impatient and I had to keep asking for my food! I only had a party of 4 and ordered 4 dishes! On top of that I’m surprised there are no health regulations conducted as there were cups that were unwashed and spoons given while dropped on the floor.

HORRIBLESERVICE. The staff is so rude and they expect tip? Food is horribly oily and low quality dim sum. I do not recommend going here at all. I was debating between 1 or 2 stars, but considering that I would not come here again and that I would warn people not to go here I would make it one star. I’ve been meaning to give a review here as I’ve been there a few times in the past 3 or 4 years.(This is for the big restaurant area btw)

This place has been remodel and has a very weird vibe to it. It’s dead and I’m not sure how long their dim sum has been sitting out. Go somewhere else.

I don’t know if this place is a 1 star or 2 star. .either way, I should have read the reviews way ahead of time before stopping in. I hate going to restaurants with low reviews, and they prove me right. And I hate not reading the reviews first. Unfortunately, I don’t like giving low reviews but this one was spot on. My friend loves dim sum, and he was desperate for some. We all know dim sum is best during those dim sum times of brunch/lunch. Well, it was about 7PM and he wanted dim sum. Unfortunately, this was the only place I knew of because he didn’t want to go elsewhere. We walk in, and it is just awkward and small. There are heaters hanging from the ceiling, a small counter, a hidden kitchen somewhere, and tables. We seat ourselves. The only dimsum they had was the dimsum platter, which I believe was about $ 11(included shumai, shrimp balls, steamed buns, and egg tarts). We order that, stir fry vegetables(bok choy, broccoli, tofu, onions, & I can’t remember what else), along with egg rolls(veggie), and beef chow mein(soft noodles, with bokchoy). I did not get to taste the dimsum, however, my friends said it was poor compared to Sun ya, Jade, and Harbor city. They said the flavor wasn’t there and that it just wasn’t as good. The beef chow mein was horribly salty and overly greasy. It was like an extra kick of soy sauce that had you drinking all your water and then another gallon after. The stir fry was okay. Everything had a lot of oil in it. It was greasy where you get that unwanted lip gloss after eating. Definitely not worth $ 8. My other friend said that the egg rolls were bland and tasteless. She was very disappointed. Overall, service sucked. The restaurant seems very, very dirty and sticky. The only good thing is probably parking that they have for free(but we didn’t know so we parked on the street). Otherwise, I would never ever return!

Love the fact that this restaurant/bar in the International District actually has free parking! They have a garage & a lot behind the building. Also love that they do dim sum even in the evening. The Pork Siu Mai is fabulous! Unfortunately the dim sum selection is much smaller than most of the other the dim sum restaurants.

Some of my friends and I tend to come here after watching a game since this place is open pretty late. The interior is not exactly for those expecting eye candy. I don’t know why but I always tend to feel a little dirty eating here, most cause the restaurant is pretty old and in need of a renovation. You are here to simply eat Cantonese food. The edges of the windows are covered with duct tape to keep out the cold, but it was still pretty freezing while we were sitting inside. Not to self: stay away from the windows. The wonton noodle soup is pretty cheap for $ 5 and it comes with lettuce. I think the broth could be a bit more flavorful like at Mike’s Noodle House but that’s just how it is. We also ordered some roast pork on the side and it was ok. The meat could be better and it wasn’t piping hot, but the skin was still crispy and tasty. The service was ok and we were able to get our food in a timely manner. I haven’t tried their dimsum here but I would rather go someplace else like Jade Garden or Harbor City for that. This place isn’t the best but I’ll take what I can get with what’s open late at the ID!

Wow, this place is for the drinks we had… We had a bunch of friends in the VIP section quietly nestled in the back… sort of blocked by these long hanging beads… the corner of the restaurant had large size windows showing the streets and all the excitement around… The décor was absolutely stunning… very old school Chinese furniture, chairs, tables and even a full size canapy bed… they had these bird cages that were so beautiful… I could tell the owners put alot of love into it… Feng shui was there… comfortable seating… Definitely intimate setting for a lounge style… great place to spend quality time and enjoy your drinks…

Awesome Dim Sum Experience SITREP I took my brother and my mother here for a lunch time adventure and am really glad I did. We were taken care of immediately by the hostess«Aunt Winnie» who delighted us with her pleasant ways and suggestions for three individuals(get this) who had never had a dim sum experience before! So for all three of us, this had been the first time we experienced this. [I should note that since this time, and befriending Unilocaler-extraordinaire Keoni W., I have had a few additional awesome Dim Sum experiences and gained a lot more knowledge about this cuisine.] SETUP Aunt Winnie made a lot of great suggestions for us and took the time to explain each of the various dishes. And what my mom loves are the traditions of tea-service and the beautiful décor in the rooms. THEMENU Standard items such as Chicken Fried Rice and Chow Mein were very popular with my mother and brother(but neither of them were even willing to try the jelly fish nor chicken feet — haha). But I enjoyed branching out and trying the Crispy Seafood Fried Noodles as well as the various versions of Shrimp dumplings(one item I apparently can not eat too much of! MMmm!) THELOWDOWN A truly enjoyable lunch experience with the family and look forward to coming again.
