This clinic is the best. Open long hours so we working stiffs can come in without loosing work hours. The doctors and staff are gentle and very nice to both the patients and owners. They have never kept me waiting. Bravo on your customer service.

What a great Veterinary Hospital for pets! I was thoroughly pleased with all the services and answers to our questions. The wealth of knowledge expressed from the Vet was great and really put me at ease.

I worked in the veterinary industry here in Seattle for 15 years, mostly with specialists in surgery and oncology. I always always had a wonderful experience with Northeast Vet as one of our partners– their receptionists were always friendly and efficient and their doctors always practiced great medicine. I referred people to them all the time (and continue to!) because their hours are wonderful and their prices are fair and reasonable! Now that I am a «civilian» and don’t have the luxury of having a board-​certified surgeon look at my little terriers teeth :), I had to find a vet. These guys were my first choice and they are GREAT. Both times I’ve been in were time-​sensitive: one dog was clearly suffering from a bladder infection and they got her in that day, and recently my border terrier mutt, who is a billy goat and eats everything, had a very loose infected tooth that I hadn’t even noticed until my tech friend pointed it out! I felt awful! They got us in the very next morning with a dental the same day. Turns out she needed TWELVE FLIPPIN teeth removed (already was missing 8!)! She also had a cleaning, a very nice pedicure, and the cost was beyond reasonable. It’s a GREAT feeling for me, who had impossibly high standards, to have a vet clinic I trust so much.
You’re in great hands with this practice!

If you’re a regular reader of my Unilocal reviews, you are already familiar with my cat «L», star of her very own Unilocal list, «The Adventures of „L“ Our Amazing Diabetic Polydactyl Cat.» This is, I’m sorry to say, the very last addition to that list.
After L’s visit to ACCES — Animal Critical Care & Emergency Services (see my ROTD review:
) she seemed to age at an accelerated rate. We took her into NE Veterinary Hospital for a follow up appointment and as usual had great care and compassion from all of the staff members. Dr. Richa said that at some point we may need to consider administering fluids but for now she seemed to be comfortable and stable, so that was good.
A couple weeks later I was on a business trip when I got a text from Darling Daughter asking when the last time L had been to the vet and I responded just recently. That text was followed up by a frantic call from my wife saying that L appeared to be in a near coma and they were on their way back up to the vet. Long story short ( Unilocal only allows for 5000 characters per review, after all), L was indeed in a diabetic coma – from too much insulin. Turns out, diabetic cats often react to changes in diet (in L’s case wet food instead of dry) and their insulin need can decrease spontaneously. That is exactly what happened with L. Suddenly and without warning the insulin dosage she needed had decreased by 50%.
Poor kitty.
My wife knew it was bad when she stepped into the building and one of the clinicians started barking out orders that included the word «stat». Certainly we’ve all seen enough hospital dramas to know that when someone yells stat, it’s bad. My wife and I did speak about whether it was fair to L to continue prolonging her life, but I was on a business trip and the thought of having to put a beloved member of the family down without being able to say goodbye… well I just didn’t want to do that.
L spent three days in kitty ICU and was so sad to be stuck with an IV in her leg as she received fluids and meds. During her time there L received great care from everyone she had contact with. The times that I stopped to visit her, I found everyone to be caring, compassionate and easy to communicate with. All in, L’s stay cost us north of $ 800 – a major chuck of change. Many months later, as I write this, part of me feels like I should regret spending that much money on a 16 year old cat, but I really don’t. You just do what you’ve got to do.
Before L’s discharge we went through training for how to administer the fluids she would now need every other day. One of the house cats was our test subject and was incredibly patient as we each took a turn poking her.
While it was good to have L home, the simple truth is that her health never recovered to pre-​hospital stay levels. We were diligent about her insulin and the fluids, but L rarely left her bed and when she did, it was to pee or poop near the litter box – but never in it. Then, about a month later she stopped even trying to leave her bed.
We all knew it was time.
It was a peaceful Saturday when I called NE Vet once again, but this time to make an appointment to forever say goodbye. We opened some premium tuna for L and let her have one final feast of the good stuff. When we arrived at the clinic they were ready for us with a room already set up, a towel covering the examination table and the euthanasia meds already measured out. The tech and Dr. Richa came in to pet L and talk us through what the process would be. They would first administer a dose of something to make her sleepy and then several minutes later would administer a lethal dose of pentobarbital. For her part, L was calm all the way through.
She was ready.
L’s final breath came almost immediately following the second injection. Her final moments were dignified, peaceful and appropriate. The staff then left us so that we could say our final goodbyes. We probably stayed another 10 minutes, comforting each other before departing for home.
We are truly grateful for the care L received over the last months of her life – particularly from Dr. Richa and the overnight staff in the ICU. They exemplified compassion and professionalism. We should all be so lucky to have such care.
Postscript: I have to say, when I wrote my original review for NE Veterinary Hospital I gave it a four-​star review and I don’t exactly know why. As I type this review, I cannot think of anything anyone there could have done that would have made our experiences – all of them – more outstanding. They are without a doubt a 5-​star facility.

This vet clinic is great, they don’t try to upsell you any products or procedures for your pet. I’ve been taking my dog here for 5 years. Even the vet assistance are passionate about the work they do with the animals. If your pet does have an issue, they will find an option that works with your finances.

I went here last month with my ten year old lab who was having achey joints and regular old dog stuff.
Made the mistake of bringing my 2 year old daughter pre nap. It wasn’t pretty.
The staff and the dr that I saw were incredible patient and professional. I got a recommendation for a dental cleaning and joint support for my dog and stickers for my girl.
I highly recommend this vet to anyone looking for compassionate, affordable care for their pets. I’ll definitely be going back (just myself and the dog) for future appointments.

Amazing vet clinic! As a new patient I was in a hurry to find a place to see my rescue pup that was having issues with his paws. They got me in within 2 hours of calling and were quick when I arrived. I have never spent so much time with a vet before discussing my dogs needs and how I can help him be healthier. He even taught me how to restrain him for the examination. He took the time to take my dog outside to see how he walked and then prescribed pained a for soft tissue injury. He gave me enough in case the issue happens again I won’t have to pay for a second visit. Overall the exam and meds were less than $ 80 for a new patient. He didn’t order X-​rays since he knew it wasn’t the bone or joint. He was so friendly and turkey cared for my dog. The entire staff was so nice, as I kept forgetting everything from my address to PIN number for my card since I was so worried about him. They just smiled and helped the best they could.
Best experience ever, Dr. Parke was the best!!!

Just moved here and kitty Sabrina was overdue for a vaccination. NVH came highly recommended from a neighbor and the reviews on Unilocal were good. Had a very good experience this morning (Sat/​Sun appointments available! ++). Had a 9am appnt. and was out of there by 9:27. The staff obviously loves animals and were attentive and engaging with Sabrina. Got new and useful info from Dr. Richa (cats need only 300 calories daily). The office is squeaky clean with no unpleasant odors at all! Ample parking too.

I have to give this vet a five star rating because I have had to take my small poodle in several times in the last few months for minor but kind of scary issues and each time I go in or call for Q&A I am treated very well.
I see Dr. Ben Fisher, he’s very nice, very thorough, and super gentle with my dog. Dr. F never makes me feel bad about my pet parenting or the type of food I feed my dog, nor does he try to over sell me.
I like this place and recommend it very highly.

I brought in a very sick cat that had been having Nasal Issues. She had been treated by another vet but it wasn’t working. She was having nasal discharge all the time I mean ²⁴⁄₇. She had lost 2.5 pounds and that’s alot for a small cat. Her coat was totally matted from the nasal discharge and the fact that this cat did not like to be brushed.
Long story short Dr Amy Ward (A little stiff and brisk with you at first) talked about my options honestly to me. Didn’t get my hopes up to high but with realistic expectations. We tried several things including a nasal wash and procedure. It bough me some time with my newly styled Lion cut cat. She looked like Sylvester the cat.
But shortly after surgery she started to have bloody discharge. Yes the end was near. My beloved cat fought so hard to stay with me. But I knew it was time to end her pain and I was ready to let go.
Dr Ward did a good job. I was with my cat when she went down. Not an easy decision. There are thing that can go bad when any animal is put down. Nothing the Dr does wrong mind you just the animals body reaction to meds. Muscles relaxing etc. Even to the end my cat fought to stay and did have are a reaction of trying to vomit out the meds. Some cants go this. My cat was gone by the time this happened. Dr Ward was very concerned for me but I know about these things. She did a good job and even gave me a hug as I cried my soul out.
But here is where my complaint starts. I let them take my cat for cremation and to dispose of the ashes. About 4hrs later I panic at home and decide I have to have my baby back and call. Can I get her back after cremation. I was in a panic that they wouldn’t be able to know what cat she was. I was told she had been taking already and they would have the person who does the cremations call me tomorrow.
Of course no call when promised. I finally called him. This is what he tells me. Oh yes I know which cat she is they have tags on them just like a dead body! And «she is the naked cat» not something I wanted to hear after I had her shaved and every thing she went through. I dint think anything this man said to me was a proper thing to say to a grieving owner. Yes she is still here I ha vent done a Burn yet… I will do a Burn this weekend. I finally told the man… «You dint burn someones pet you cremate them». At that point he finally says I am sorry.
I was livid and called back to the office and told them… I didn’t want my money going to this man in any way. The will have the big boss call me. When he does all he can say is sorry. I believe what he souled of said is how very sorry he was and yes there would be no charge for cremation due to the upsetting things you have been for! They then should of called this Asshole to does the cremations and tell him he would have to do this one for free and promise to act more professional in the future.
I dont believe they handled this situation correctly or professionallyd at all !!!
I will go back because of the great care I received and the fact that they are one of the few Vets that offer credit!
I write this to let you and they know the situation and also to try and help anyone out with the decision they may have to make to be with or not be with their beloved animal if they have to put one down… and by the way either decision is correct and go with your heart!

I’ll start by saying I am a little high-​maintenance when it comes to my pets:) I have 4 dogs and work as a professional dog walker & pet sitter, so when it comes to others caring for my critters I am super picky & particular.
Northeast has been AMAZING! After 11 years at another vet, we switched to NE in 2012. My experiences have been fantastic, particularly with Dr. Edwards & Dr. Price. For years, my 12 year old Lab, Kona, had suffered from hot spots that became big open wounds. The previous vet tried treating her, unsuccessfully with diet changes, pricey Atopica & various other methods. While seeing Dr. Price for an unrelated issue, he asked if he could scrape the hot spot to test it and see if it was yeast. He started her on an antibiotic and the wound-​like area healed in a matter of weeks!
Dr. Edwards, who is calm, attentive and thoughtful (despite my crazy lady questions and non stop talking) was equally successful in treating Kona’s incontinence with Proin.
Everyone I have encountered at NE has been caring, patient and helpful. My pets & I are happy to have an incredible new vet! I will be referring all my friends and clients to NE!

This is the best place to take care of your dog. They took care of our precious until she died at 18. They were so kind through her old age and sickness and so helpful when she finally died. We are on year #11 here and two dogs. They practice conservative medicine, and don’t try to gouge you for expensive tests until they are necessary. They are willing to try different things, instead of saying «put your dog down.» I totally trust them.

Our dogs normal vet is Dr. Reeves for routine visits like physicals. However, every vet Buddy sees there takes such good care of him. I really can’t recommend this place enough. If you are looking for a vet, you don’t need to look any further. They are even open evenings and weekends.

Best vet in NE Seattle, been taking all my animals here for over 30 years & never a bad experience! Friendly staff, knowledgeable vets-​who are also concerned for your animals and show it!

This is our vet! Everyone there is very nice, helpful, and caring. It’s nice to feel like they are there to help your animal.
One thing that we love is their hours. They are open very late on weekdays and open on weekends as well. This is great for two reasons… one because it fits with our schedule much better and two because if anything happens to our dog where we need to get him to a vet ASAP there’s a better chance they’ll be open.
I can see us coming here for as long as we live in the area. Really no complaints!

Dr. Christiansen is the greatest. He does not push expensive tests or anything like that. He treats my two dogs with kindness and care that show he’s not just in it for the money. I learned that he too has animals in his household so he experiences the same emotional attachment to his friends that I do.
One of the vets is certified in animal acupuncture. And the front staff is a delight to deal with. Plus they have evening and weekend hours.
I’m lucky they are in my zip code so it’s easy for me to get there.

Very helpful staff which were very considerate and attentive to my dog. I go here routinely to get her vaccinations and her doctor (Dr. Ward) seems to have a visible affinity for animals and calming nature which helps to allay the jitteryness of my dog (super cute but way too shivery for her own good).
When my dog caught/​broke her toenail and bled, I brought her in for an emergency and they saw me and helped me immediately. They managed to clip and bandage her up and she was right as rain.

I have waited a couple months to write this review, hoping the anger and frustration would subside. Unfortunately, every time I think about my dog’s final weeks, I get angry again and I don’t wish that upon anyone, so I’d rather write the review and warn others away.
To preface: My parents and I have taken ALL of our animals to NE Vet for the past 30-​plus years. That equals five cats and three dogs, including two cats we picked out from NE Vet as kittens. We love our animals and would do near anything for them. NE Vet had helped our pets through animal attack wounds, feline leukemia, and more. I know we have seen most of the doctors (including some who have moved on) during that time, but I believe Dr. Reeves was the primary doctor for Chester during his final months.
Chester was a spunky, playful mutt (part Norwegian Buhund and part Blue Heeler) who enjoyed daily walks and let my cat be king of the house when he would come over for a visit (otherwise Chester was the only animal at home).
Around Christmas 2011, Chester developed some scabs on his paws that apparently made it hurt for him to walk. The doctor scraped the scabs for testing and sent us on our way. Within a few days, we had a daily pill to give Chester and were told his paws should clear up within a couple weeks.
The scabs never cleared up, and upon continued visits until Chester’s passing (July 12, 2012; he was a young 12 years old), the doctors never did figure out what was wrong, nor did they ever offer to refer us to a specialist of any kind. If they didn’t know, it apparently didn’t exist. But this wasn’t the biggest issue.
In late June, Chester became lethargic. Not only did he no longer want to go on walks, he was barely willing to go outside. Most days, he didn’t want to eat or drink (my mother spent a few tearful evenings spoon-​feeding him chicken broth). My dad picked him up and carried him to the car/​into the vet. They took blood work and sent them home. Two agonizing days later, they called back to say there was nothing wrong that they could find. They made no offer to run more tests and no recommendations of next steps or options. A couple days before he passed, my mother called the vet to tell them he wasn’t eating or drinking water. Their response? «Well, I guess you can bring him in tomorrow morning.» My dad brought him in the next morning, they «ran blood tests» and gave the same «there’s nothing wrong» response. My parents were exasperated, but these were the only vets they had ever taken their animals to … what could they do next? When Chester passed away (at home overnight, after my parents had stayed up petting him until 1 am), my dad brought his body in to the vet for cremation. Dr. Reeves couldn’t even be bothered to either apologize for not figuring out what was wrong or simply for the loss of our dog. After 30-​plus years of being a client? Really?!?
When my father returned for Chester’s ashes, still not even an acknowledgment. Needless to say, we will not be returning to NE Vet with any current or future pets.

I’ve been taking my cats here for about five years and always had wonderful treatment. When my cat died a couple of years ago, Dr. Christiansen who had been treating him for a worsening respiratory condition, called us to express his condolences even though my kitty died at the emergency vet’s and we hadn’t even let the office know he had passed. I recently met a newer doctor, Dr. Edwards and she was great too, very thoughtful and took the time to talk through my kitty’s arthritis diagnosis with me. The emergency vet’s must have called them. They also sent a nice card. Most of the doctors here have wonderful «bedside manner» and some people doctors could take a hint from them. ;)
I like that this clinic has weekend and evening hours as well. It’s easier for me to do routine visits outside of work hours. They are always available to see my cats on short notice if we are having a problem, and I think their prices are reasonable compared to what I see around. They do take some kind of pet insurance, although I don’t use it. The only thing they don’t do is emergency vet service for serious conditions, but Access on Lake City is not too far away. I’ve also heard they do acupuncture, although have not tried that on my own kitty yet.

My family has come to this vet hospital for nearly 20 yrs. They are consistent, have later hours, and have always provided great service. It can be pricey at times, but that’s the cost of medical care for pets and you’ll be charged the same elsewhere.
Reliability and solid care make me a fan.

Northeast Vets has a very nice, courteous and knowledgeable staff. They have reasonable prices and do what they can to save you on costs. You don’t usually get the same vet unless you specifically ask for the same one but that doesn’t bother me. All you have to do is ask.
I frequently call them to ask questions and advice for both my dog and my cat. They are always very willing to help and suggest ways I can do something myself to save on cost. They also suggest ways I can make my vet-​hating kitty have an easier time and they don’t get upset even when they have a very angry kitty on their hands! They are also very kind to my dog who is always very skeptical of strangers. Overall, they are really great to my pets despite both their crazy personalities.
They are also open later than most vets, until 8pm on weekdays, I think.
