I love the Pad Thai here. My favorite in the area. My wife loves the Massaman Curry. The people who work there are also very friendly.

Used to be good, then it was closed for a while because of a fire. When they reopened, it was as good as ever, for a while. Then it just went to hell fast. I was not even remotely surprised when they closed for good, and a For Lease sign was placed in the window.

My updated review is still giving New’s 5 stars however I’m slightly disappointed they did away with grub hub, the online ordering. Now I have to call in(so lazy)! The spring rolls continue to be amazing as do ever entrée we have ordered!

The inside is a little sketchy but I try to bypass that in most cases, and just hope that the food makes up for it. Needless to say it didn’t live up to that here. The waitress/cook was the only person there and I could already tell was perturbed at me walking in. I was only the second customer in the whole place. Right away I decided my best bet would be to just order up some fresh veggie rolls, which did not disappoint. If you’re looking for a quick and cheap meal you can take your bet here but i’ve found better places on the Aurora 99.

After being closed for quite a while, the sign outside says NOMSG. For me, that is automatic entry… so I entered! My roomie and I checked out the menu and I ordered the«Summer Fire» with tofu. It’s a rice dish(rice on the side) containing bamboo shoots, bell pepper, mushrooms, onions, basil, and red curry. I ordered it very hot because I like my food spicy and it wasn’t that hot, but that’s okay. The sauce was flavorful and light. It soaked into the ingredients really well and made the bamboo shoots a delight all to themselves. The tofu was diced and pungent and there was just the right amount of basil so as not to overpower the dish. They give a lot of food so you’ll definitely have leftovers for lunch the next day or a late night snack. My one grumble is that my rice was on the overcooked side, so it was a little too soft. I wish they used jasmine rice or at least cooked it closer to al dente(closer, not al dente). We noticed some construction on the other side of the restaurant and the waitress told us they are opening up the space. It was dead when we walked in(I never see this place busy), but I hope business picks up because I’d like to try a bunch of other items on the menu. Next time I’ll try the phở… if it’s as good as I’ve read/heard, I’ll save gas on going to the U-district. Woot woot!

I will seriously pay someone a hundred million bazillion dollars to actually make me food as spicy as I order it. I ask for 5+ stars; I even specify to make it as spicy as they are allowed to by law; and I am perpetually disappointed. With that said though, the swimming rama I had tasted delicious, and had just the right amount of sauce, rice, meat, and vegetables. They did manage to include at least a moderate amount of spice, and were very accommodating regarding menu changes(they were out of spinach, but let me substitute in both green peppers and broccoli in its place, which was much appreciated). New’s would be getting 4 stars from me hands down, except for the fact that I’m not a huge fan of the style of their phở broth. I’m a big phở fan, and I tend to like it more on the savory/acidic/salty side, and am consequently not as big of a fan of the broths that have more of a nutmeg/cinnamon/clove flavor. They do a great job otherwise though, so if you like a slightly sweeter phở then New’s is for you. Prices aren’t bad, but aren’t anything special($ 10-$ 15/ea), and the venue is about the same(although it gets extra points for being next to an awesome brewery – woooo, Naked City!).

So glad News Noodles is open again! The soups are delicious. I had the tom yum soup and my husband had the chicken noodle soup and both were very yummy. I like that they use a lot of veggies in their dishes. Perfect for a cold evening. My only complaints are that the dining area isn’t very esthetically pleasing and it’s cold in there. If I had planned ahead I would’ve gotten my food to go.

We’ve been talking about stopping in here after an evening at Naked City for awhile — and last night we took the plunge. I’m pretty sure after placing the order, it took all of six or seven minutes for everything to be ready — spring rolls, panang curry, and some sort of phở. The portions of all three were pretty huge, all of the food was good, and the two women working were friendly and efficient. I’ll definitely be back for another round, now that I know these folks are an inexpensive and super filling option. I can’t speak to the quality of the phở, but the panang curry was good and there was no shortage of the sauce which makes me happy. I don’t mind running out of meat/veggies as long as there is still sauce and rice, and there was plenty of both. **The spring rolls are the mini super fried kind — which I happen to love, but many don’t — so fair warning!

New’s Noodles is reopened after the fire on that block six months ago, and I was excited to try them since I’d heard good things before the fire. Overall, the dining experience was pretty uneven. Good things: –The service is friendly and prompt. Waters will be refilled and you will be checked on often. –Ordered the crab rangoon appetizer. I think of this dish as American Chinese, but they were tasty. The wrappers were fried perfectly and very light so they did not trap a bunch of grease, and the filling was MUCH crabbier than you see in most places. –You have your pick of table sauces-soy, sri racha, hoisin, and I think I’m missing some. Bad things: –Massaman curry was too sweet, and could not really be saved by a generous application of Sri Racha for balance. –Ordered swimming rama, and what came out was… something else. It did have a peanut sauce, but the veggies under it were so wet from being steamed or blanched that it really watered the sauce down. There was no spinach, which I’ve had in every other swimming rama(and was described this way on the menu). –All the veggies were too al dente. I don’t like overcooked mush, and I am pretty light with the steaming/stir frying at home, but the carrots still had real snap to them and the potatoes in the massaman were difficult to cut through. –In contrast, the meat was a problem. The chicken in the non-swimming rama was so mushy it was almost dissolving, and the beef in the curry was leathery. General observations: –The atmosphere is pretty quirky/divey. There’s ingredients in frames on the walls for décor, like shelled cashews and chili pods. –If you use the nearest bathroom, you will come face to face with the mop and bucket about a foot from your face as you sit on the porcelain throne. –There are still odd holes/plaster/arches in the wall from the fire. –The prices seemed pretty average for Seattle non-fancy Thai/Vietnamese($ 9-$ 10 a dish), but the food really reminded me of the quick and dirty swill I would go for when I was a student and would get $ 5 Thai lunch specials in the U-District. At those places you expect food to be simpler as a cost cutting measure and for there to be a dive in quality. Something was just missing overall. This is my neighborhood, but I will make the effort to leave my hood for decent Thai next time – I don’t think it exists in Greenwood.

I guess the place is opened up again because I was able to regrettably eat here today. I proceeded to order a phở, and it tasted fine. I got my bill and went to pay with my credit card, but they told me they did not set up their credit card machine yet. This was quite frustrating because I didn’t have any cash on me either, and I didn’t have a bank around. They should have let me know that the credit card machine wasn’t set up yet so that I could have gone some where else. I took a walk to see if there was my bank around the area but could not find one. Eventually we came to an agreement to allow me to write a check. I left the restaurant my stomach started to cramp and i started to feel nauseous and vomited about an hour later It may or may not have been the food, but it was too coincidental to get stomach cramps and nausea so soon after eating my meal. In retrospect, the soup was barely hot enough to cook the raw meat, which may have contributed to the food poisoning. I went back to let them know what happened, not even looking for a refund or anything. I just wanted them to be careful so that no one else would get sick, but they went on the defensive and said their food is fresh. What they failed to realize that fresh food with poor food handling can still cause illness. They didn’t seem to care that I was sick at all.

This place has a great menu full of variety and they are happy to change it all up if you ask. The family thy owns it appears to be a feisty married couple, they make me laugh. Ambiance is traditional, no music, a bunch of tables, and plainish walls and décor. About the food: the Thai dishes are flavorful, the appetizers are generous, and the phở is pretty a-ok. Prices are fine, as expected for Thai and phở, everything under $ 10!!! Enjoy!

New’s Noodles’ biggest problem is consistency. Sometimes, this place is SOOOGOOD! When they first opened, oh my goodness, this place was excellent. But now, it’s hit or miss. This is a shame, because unless I’m really craving fresh rolls, it’s just not worth the gamble.

I love this place. The pineapple noodles are so good. Perfect combination of sweet and spicy. The service is way friendly and awesome. I wish I could go here more but I know I will once it starts to cool down. I don’t know if there is anything special about the way that they make their food but it sure does taste great. If you are in Greenwood, stop by. It is worth it.

Okay, okay, okay! I’m a JUNKIE! I admit… I’m a JUNKIE! Okay, I’ll clarify that I’m a Food Network JUNKIE! Even though my chefing skills leave much to be desired, I find so much inspiration in the good ol’ FN! Whether I’m watching Giada whip up a savory cheesecake, Cat Cora compete in «Battle Grape,» or Bobby challenge the Pad Thai master, I’m a fan. And speaking of Bobby and the whole Pad Thai Challenge, I started craving some Thai food like no other this past weekend when I saw him competing! Last time I saw this particular Throwdown challenge and started craving Pad Thai I scoured Unilocal and ended up at Thai Siam… they were okay, but I knew I needed something different. After browsing some reviews I settled on New’s Noodles. A quick call later and I was told my Prawn Pad Thai would be ready in 10 minutes! PERFECT! I walked into the clean and welcoming restaurant and had a to-go box of Prawn Pad Thai for $ 10 in 10 seconds! The container was about 20 pounds and I knew I would be in for some substantial eating! When I got home and started to devour the food I was ecstatic! It was slightly spicy, slightly sweet, and while I enjoy spritzing some lime for some acidity, it really didn’t need it(which was good, because there was no lime). The noodles were cooked to perfection and the prawns were entirely free of that fishy smell you sometimes get and there were a ton of them(although they were slightly overcooked). Great price, great flavor, convenient location, friendly employees, huge portions(two meals worth)… and best of all… they were watching Food Network! It’s like they were waiting for me to arrive and wanted to make sure my inspiration was playing on the good ol’ telly! WOOOOOT!

The interior may not be the finest, but it’s a Noodle house and not a fine dining restuarant, so it didn’t bother me. The food was amazing and in my experience, the service was great. One of the owners came out and served us herself. I had the Massaman curry and my boyfriend had the Yellow Curry Fried Rice. It was delicious. My boyfriend is hard to please at times & he loved it just as much as I did. The potatoes were cut perfectly so that they weren’t over or under cooked. To top it all, the owner came and chatted with us. She explained to us that they sun dry their chilis, so that’s why the flavor and intensity is more true than some places. She also explained that they use 2010 rice, so it doesn’t require as much water because it is soft. Some cool new interesting facts I learned. My boyfriend is afraid to try Phở, so I’m glad that next time I want Phở I can go there and get my fix while he eats his Thai food. :) Not to mention the prices and portion sizes are great.

Stepping inside New’s Noodles can only be compared to stepping inside a Crayola box. Colors, colors everywhere! Despite the flashy interior/exterior introduction, the food fell into the lackluster category. I ordered a bowl of phở with beef steak. My small bowl consisted mostly of broth, a small amount of noodles that all stuck together and a few pieces of chewy meat. The broth itself lacked the taste of cilantro and instead tasted more and more like grease with each bite. Pass. Our server was quick to greet us and bring us our drinks and was patient while we looked over their menu. Their prices aren’t steep, so I’m willing to give them another go. They had plenty of Thai dishes, rice dishes and noodle dishes to choose from. They also have delivery service, but it is cash only.

Greenwood has gotten another good restaurant on Greenwood ave N. A Good find on a misty Seattle day. I saw their grand opening sign above their brightly lit and brightly painted nook. I order the #4 phở that consist of round steak and lean brisket with all the regular fixens, I order a Small which like most phở places are mammoth size and it was just the right size. It was the best phở I have ever had a sweet salty meat broth with really tasty flavorful brisket. I thought this was a phở place but it seemed everyone was enjoying their TAI food. Which I was a bit confused with Vietnmeese soup and tai food but I am planning on trying their food but it would be hard knowing how good their phở is. I would try this place again and I hope you will too.

$ 16(+tip) and about 2/3rds of the two entrees later, my friend and I were at the point where we simply could not eat anymore. I bet we could have even been fine spending $ 6.95+tip on ONE dish and been perfectly full. We got the Tom Kha Gai, which was super delicious and SUPER filling because it had noodles along with the tofu, lemongrass, mushrooms, tomatoes, etc. The pieces of tofu were huge and soft so I had to cut them in half, but the broth and ingredients were very tasty. Lesson learned: The boyfriend knows what he’s talking about whenever he orders fried tofu in our meatless meals. This is the first time I’ve had the not-fried kind in a restaurant dish, and I learned that I do not like it. We also had the pineapple noodle dish with tofu and it was pretty good, but also pretty bland. We ate all the tofu, pineapple, and veggies and ended up being left with plenty of noodles on the plate. The old man working seemed pretty nice and checked in /refilled our waters a couple times. Otherwise he just let us take our time getting through the food(which ended up taking about an hour). When giving me change he accidentally shorted me by $ 10, but he realized what happened(while I stood there staring at the money– food coma is bad– for a few seconds thinking«this looks wrong») and opened the register back up to give me that extra bill. I’m glad he fixed that himself :) Not quite worth five stars, but it was definitely above average. I’ll have to take my guy here next time so he can try out their Phở.

Okay I am a sucker for novelty… It’s really good. I had the«New Noodle Thai Soup» #22 Veggie. It was really good and a huge portion. I had Spices: 2. Medium and it was perfect Nice and spicy! They go to 4. Very Hot. Yikes. Lots of veggies and tasty freshness. The wide noodles were perfect. The menu has a few different categories. I can’t wait to go back and try some curry tofu! A little slice of the ID right here… The staff is friendly and thoughtful. He moved me to a different table, because he noticed that it was tilted towards the door. Welcome to the hood New’s!
