National MS Society, Greater Northwest Chapter

Moms was diagnosed with MS (in ’02) and the NMSS Greater Seattle Chapter has been instrumental in helping our family get the help/​suppport we need.
I’ve walked the ‘Walk’ for the last 8 years, and last year, my bro participated in the MS 150 Bike Ride. 150 miles in two days, people. up Chukanut Drive, no less. It ain’t no picnic.
This year. well, we all did the walk, but I didn’t get my biz together enough to ride. My dad, my bro and my uncle ended up riding (and finishing!) and I volunteered with Moms. They put on an amazing two day event in La Conner with a great amount of excitement and encouragement, support, live music, testimonials. and a beer garden! There is so much enthusiasm, so much effort spent in looking for a cure, so much support. It’s truly an amazing thing to be a part of.
The first ride (4 years ago) consisted of 300 riders. This year, there was over 2000, with over $ 1.4 million dollars raised. Impressive? I think so. I can’t wait for next year. I look forward to wearing spandex shorts. *shudder*
Washington State has one of the highest rates of MS in the nation. I’m thankful we have such a great organization, working diligently to find a cure.
