National Bird Control

I just called this company this morning to set up an appointment and the receptionist Diane said they are going OUT OF BUSINESS… on to the next!

We set up an appt for the NBC team to come take a look at our place to fix a bird problem. It took a while to get them out and then when they did come they were quick about giving us estimates which we appreciated. We mulled it over then got back in touch and said we wanted to do it. We didn’t hear back. When we finally did they decided they weren’t going to do it. What?! Maybe they are going out of business?

I contacted National Bird Control because we had birds nesting in the gables of our roof. The came out quickly to assess the problem and gave me a bid for the work.
Things I liked about NBC:
–The were good communicators: They checked in with me about appointment times.
— They were on-​time: Came when they said they would
— They were thorough: A man named Mark did the work on our house. He was very friendly and after fixing the holes that the birds were in, he worked for over an hour scrubbing the bird droppings off our house. He ever fixed a spot on our window that needed caulking. We have a very tall house so I was very grateful that he was willing to help!
The only reason I didn’t give 5 stars is because I don’t know what a good price for this work would be. It could be that I got a great deal, or perhaps it was fair, or maybe overpriced. Either way, I’m glad I spent the money to take care of our bird problem. It was worth it!

National Bird Control handles more than just birds! I live in Ballard and saw rat droppings on sofa and in kitchen when I arrived home from work. I called the NBC office because they were close to my home. The owner, Dave came out and found a rat behind my fridge. yuck! He went back to his office to get some traps and set them for that evening. He came back the next morning to check on them and again on the following day when I called screaming that I had seen a rat running down the hall and into my bedroom. He checked my bedroom and determined that the rat had escaped through a cat door. He then referred me to a vermin control company who specializes in vermin control with cats and dogs in the house. Dave really helped me out. Most importantly, he kept me calm until the day the vermin specialists could come. Thanks to all of the people at NBC and AAA Pest Control, my rat problem is taken care of.

Not impressed. They were pleasant enough people, but I’m not seeing why I needed the bird control people when I still have to hire a contractor to make the house presentable after the bird fixes.
Besides the fact that they showed up at least two hours earlier than scheduled and just got lucky that my husband was home to orient them (I had planned to be back home in time for the appointment), their first pass at fixing the holes in the sides of the house missed three holes. They kept referring to the work order only listing four holes. Since I’m the one who made the appointment and who knew that there were more than four holes, I’m not sure where that number came from. Then they implied that because the holes probably were from abandoned pipes, that they didn’t need to be covered. I said yes they did, as I have seen birds nesting there.
So they «fixed» more holes and put up a Flicker house. But the bird house rests directly over an entry door, so I look forward to continuously cleaning bird poop on the black awning we have over the door. They also trapped the holographic tape I had previously put up to scare the birds away between the bird house and the siding. So if the holographic tape works, it will scare the birds away from the bird house.
Finally, and back to my first point — all they do is fill the holes with expanding foam and wire mesh, which on a wood-​shingled and trimmed house, looks atrocious. Because I need to have someone come make the house look presentable (and now possibly move the bird house), I’m thinking, couldn’t have I just had a contractor fill the holes and find a better (less unsightly) way to cover them? I would’ve done it all myself buy I don’t go up that high on ladders.

Since moving to Green Lake, our house has been under constant attack from woodpeckers, starlings, and other feathered friends. Woodpeckers would punch through vents and make holes, and then the more aggressive starlings would kick them out and nest. We finally were able to remove the nests but needed to prevent woodpeckers or starlings from returning again. We got a number of bids, and while National Bird Company was not the cheapest initially, they had the best proposal (most thorough plus cleaning) as well as matched their competitor’s price. Two weeks later, their are no signs of birds, and they now seem to be roosting on our neighbor’s house. Overall, I was very happy with the price and job that NBC did, but I hope I won’t have to call them again.

Many of you have heard the saga and tales of the Squirrel Problem at My House. I hate those little furry rats. I don’t know who it is on my street who puts out the peanuts for them that I constantly find buried where my tulip bulbs once were, but I am *this* close to issuing a memo to everyone on the street to STOP freakin’ feeding those glorified rodents!
My bad for calling a bird control company for a squirrel problem. I always try to use companies from the ‘hood, and they had a sign up on their building on Crown Hill that said they now ‘do squirrels!’ The two guys who came over daily for like 6 days to help me in my battle were both very nice and easy to communicate with, but they did admit that the squirrel part of their biz was a recent development. When I saw them climbing into the attic with a fishing net and a small Kennel Cab (like for a dog), I knew we were in for an «adventure.»
They patched the squirrels entry to the attic with an effective yet extremely eye catchingly ugly combination of steel mesh and bright orange foam about the size and shape of a brain. You can’t miss it and it’s on the front of the house. Sayonara, curb appeal.
Bottom line: I do not hear the attic squirrel-​palooza every morning from 5am — 11am anymore. I do know, however, that there are a minimum of 2 squirrel carcasses rotting in the attic on glue strips that the guys left up there. And I am okay with that, I guess, because as far as I am concerned, the only good squirrel is one that either stays in the yard where it belongs (as opposed to storming my castle) or one that is dead.
I bet these guys are awesome with birds, though.
