Totally awesome store! A music store devoted entirely to Industrial and goth music! What more could I possibly ask for? I thought I was in the know with many of the Goth and Industrial bands out there but I got a very informative slap in the face that I didn’t know nearly as much. going to this store proved it. There were many bands that I was very curious about and ones that I never heard of before after going into this store. They had totally awesome T-shirts with great in your face logos and slogans. All T-shirts were black of course. I am very sad to see that the place is no longer in business.

Musicwerks almost always has what I’m looking for, no matter how rare I think it may be, if I’m shopping for industrial, EBM, synthpop, goth, futurepop, powernoise… And their selection of t-shirts and band paraphernalia is unsurpassed.

Musicwerks is the local spot to check out gothic/industrial music cds and/or culture in Seattle. The owner, Mike, is in the band Noxious Emotion. Other workers have included members of Glis, Ayria, and Manufactura. A bit of history: Musicwerks was formerly located right next to the Vogue in Capitol Hill, but that location burned to the ground some years ago(2001?). Instead of closing up shop Mike threw himself an extravagant industrial tribute concert, which was extremely successful, and allowed him to open up shop in still a really prime Capitol Hill location. Musicwerks is the heart and soul of the gothic/industrial community in Seattle. Not only do they sponsor most of the larger bands coming to Seattle, but they even have their own club night at the Vogue on Thursdays. They also frequently donate gift certificates to the store at various other goth functions. If you know the workers at Musicwerks, you will know of every concert and club night in town, you can meet any of the local industrial bands(including reclusive elitist types like Scott S. from Pain Station), and if you happen to have their own project or idea for a club night they can get you in touch with the right people. Musicwerks has a prolific collection of EVERYTHING goth/industrial/noise-related, period. From The Cure to NIN to: Wumpscut: to Death In June, Musicwerks caters to everything remotely in the goth/industrial genre, and then some. They have an extensive collection of bootleg concerts, which were all converted from video to dvd, along with band t-shirts and posters. They will let you listen to cds, talk politics of industrial music with you, give advice on local clubs and events, and give their own personal review of a cd. It’s clear that the staff cares about their music, and why shouldn’t they? In Seattle we have a vibrant gothic/industrial culture and Musicwerks only helps to solidify that reputation.

This is the place to go for all your industrial/gothic musical needs and wants. Small store but packed with tons of good stuff. AND-if they happen to not have the cd you’re looking for, they’ll try and order it for you. The staff is nice and knowledgeable. And if the hard industrial sound isn’t your thing, they also have lots of mainstream Cure and Depeche Mode. At one time, I saw Morrissey and Smiths cds for sale here, but not today. They also carry a lot of bootleg recordings of various artists, a lot done from shows at the Vogue that Mike got to play there. There’s plenty of Death in June bootlegs from all over the west coast, too. If you’re in need of a Combichrist t-shirt, get it here alongside a small selection of shirts. Need a leather spiked choker? All the jewelry is handmade in Seattle. So, support the scene AND local business owners, shop at Musicwerks!

A gem. A music haven for goth, darkwave, industrial and any other divergent of this musical persuasion. This is a small store with a few wonderful racks of hard to find cds, rare and limited edition cds and dvd performances. Also a small rack of t-shirts and some goth/fetish jewelry. The staff is incredibly knowledgable and friendly whether you are dressed for the scene or not. They also seem to work hard to get good goth/industrial acts from Europe. Check out their listings on the homepage to find out about upcoming shows.
Worth checking out if you love goth/industrial music and hate always having to buy your cds online.
