THIS IS MAXIM STAFFING IN MASSACHUSETTS NOT WASHINGTON STATE!!!
I completed an online application for a healthcare technician position with a federal government agency through Maxim and Maxim called me a few months later. They were very proactive in facilitating my getting the position. I pasted the job description at the very bottom of this post.
*****BUT, WHEN IT CAME TO THE BENEFITS:
1. IT WASN’T GOVERNMENT BENEFITS, LIKE IT SAYS IN THE 3RD LINE UNDER «DESCRIPTION»; IT WAS HEALTH BENEFITS THROUGH MAXIM AS A CONTRACT AGENCY THROUGH MAXIM’S GOVERNMENT DIVISION… AND I PAID THROUGH THE NOSE FOR A STANDARD PLAN (ABOUT $ 600+ A MONTH). WHEN I ASKED FOR HELP SIGNING UP FOR HEALTH INSURANCE, MAXIM EMAILED ME A 300 PAGE BENEFITS PACKAGE AND GAVE ME AN 800 NUMBER TO CALL. NO HELP.
2. YES, I GOT THE GOVERNMENT HOLIDAYS WHICH ARE STANDARD WITH MOST EMPLOYERS, SO IT’S NOT A PERK… IT’S STANDARD.
3. PAID TIME OFF — THIS WAS 10 DAYS A YEAR AND THE TEN DAYS INCLUDED SICK AND VACATION TIME — MAXIM DID NOT DIFFERENTIATE, THAT’S WHY THEY CALL IT «PAID TIME OFF». HORRID.
4. THERE IS NO FLEXIBLE SCHEDULING, IT ALL DEPENDS ON THE DEPARTMENT YOU WORK FOR. I WANTED TO TAKE A WEEK VACATION TIME WITHOUT PAY BUT WAS TOLD THAT IF I DID THAT, I WOULD LOSE MY HEALTH INSURANCE AS I HAD TO MAINTAIN A 40 HOUR WORK WEEK TO MAINTAIN MY INSURANCE STATUS, SO I HAD TO USE VACATION TIME. TRUST ME 10 DAYS GOES QUICKLY WHEN IT INCLUDES SICK AND VACATION TIME.
5. THERE WAS NO STAFF BONUS, PAY WAS NOT COMPETITIVE AFTER WHAT I PAID FOR INSURANCE, NOT TO MENTION NO EMPLOYEE SUPPORT FROM MAXIM.
*** I ENDED UP APPLYING ON MY OWN FOR A JOB WITH THE FEDERAL GOVERNMENT AND DID GET A JOB IN A FEDERAL AGENCY AND GOT ACTUAL «GOVERNMENT BENEFITS» WHICH ONLY A TRUE FEDERAL EMPLOYEE GETS, NOT A CONTRACT EMPLOYEE THROUGH MAXIM.
BE VERY CAREFUL!!! READ BETWEEN THE LINES AND ASK QUESTIONS!!! WHAT I WROTE IS JUST THE TIP OF THE ICEBERG…

Maxim Healthcare Services is now seeking an Ophthalmic Technician for a full-​time position within a large academic hospital located in Boston, Massachusetts. This position is full-​time with hours of Monday-​Friday 8am — 4:30pm. Government benefits including paid government holidays, health insurance, and paid-​time-​off available for those interested. Responsibilities include: * Performs preliminary screening examinations for physician review including, but not limited to, central and peripheral visual field tests; ocular motility tests; color vision tests; pharmacological pupil tests; tonometry, tonography and tension tonography tests to determine intraocular pressure and pupil testing for size, equality and reaction prior to dilation. * Examines the cornea, lens and anterior chamber of the eye using a slit lamp and note variations from normal. * Measures acuity of patient, with and without glasses, for distance and near vision; obtain optical and lensometry measurements to determine lens prescription and correct acuity problems; record findings on patient chart Qualifications include: * Certification as an Ophthalmic Technician (COA) by the Joint Commission on Allied Health Personnel in Ophthalmology (JCAHPO) preferred * One (1) year of experience as an Ophthalmic Technician preferred *

Qualifications include:
* Certification as an Ophthalmic Technician by the Joint Commission on Allied Health Personnel in Ophthalmology (JCAHPO) preferred and/​or per state requirements.
* One (1) year of experience as an Ophthalmic Technician preferred.
* Current BLS card.
* Current physical exam, if required by state regulations or contract specifications.
* Current TB test or chest x-​ray.
