Just had the BBQ Brisket sandwich. I can now die a happy man. There’s only one way you have a menu with so few items on it. Every single item is amazing. You literally cannot pick a bad one from the menu!

So I’m fat and have been craving a kick ass corned beef. So I googled BESTCORNEDBEEF in Seattle… And this place popped up. So we finally made it here and I can’t lie… The corned beef was nothing to talk about. The pastrami dip was pretty damn good. But I highly doubt me or my fat ass will be back here.

A great warm pastrami sandwich with all the expected trimmings. Bread had good body with just the right amount of chew. I was eating literally within 5 minutes of walking in the door. 10 bucks for everything.

Call first on a Saturday or accept the possibility for great disappointment. Was not open on Saturday as stated in this app. Rumor has it that sometimes they run out of corned beef on Friday and select not to open on Saturday. No idea if that was the case on this occasion, but I do look forward to trying again on my next visit. 3 Stars out of anticipation to find 4 and possibly 5 stars. My current favorite corned beef and pastramis sandwiches goes to Golds Delicatessen in Westport, CT(no the assumed Katz’s or Carnegie btw) and I’m always looking for a more succulant melt in your mouth product and sandwich!!!

It’s ok. The Ruben wasn’t grilled well, so there was no crunch to the bread which is disappointing. The potato salad wasn’t great. It’s just sort of underwhelming and over rated. They have great looking little hash kits though which is cool. I’ll stick to making my own Rubens though.

Simple. Focused. Good service. Meat on bread with a price point that doesn’t exist in Seattle anymore. The half sandwich is a filling meal for me.

I ate here for lunch as I was working across the street. I was really impressed with the flavor and size of the Rueben. I will definitely keep this place in mind the next time I am in the area.

Nice marble rye. Kind of them to include all of that extra stuff, but I only needed the mustard and the horseradish; felt bad wasting all of the other stuff.

If you want to enter a meat coma, this is the place for you. Delicious sandwiches piled with mountains of beautifully tender meat. This place is a must go if you’re looking for great, no-frills food.

Had the Ruben. Lots o’ meat! Very tasty. Came with a pickle, side of horseradish sauce, side of potato salad and a Oreo-style cookie. Good sandwich and quick service. The older gentleman behind the counter told me this place provided meats to the hotels in the area in years past and they opened the restaurant part later. Good place to try and right near the Federal Courthouse for all you jurors out there in Seattle for a day or a week.

I had this place bookmarked for years and was never in the area when it was open. Finally, one Saturday after hitting REI, I had my chance. The place was empty other than two employees and myself, and as another reviewer mentioned, was pretty undecorated, with none of the character that the outside suggests. I had a corned beef sandwich and the split pea soup. The soup was pretty thin and just wasn’t very impressive. The sandwich was tasty, with strong horseradish served on the side, but the bread was pretty soft and probably would have been better if toasted. So the meal was ok, but definitely not memorable. Bummer!

I really like the pastrami dip. Order 1 to be split with two people, otherwise it’s too big for lunch. Comes with a cup of dip, small scoop of potatoes salad, cookie for both people if you split it.

I went in at a quarter to noon and there was relatively no line. This was my first time at the market and a coworker informed me I must try the Rubin sandwich but I saw they have a brisket bbq sandwich and I had to try it. The brisket was kept cold and was heated on a grill and dumped on a hoagie roll that was drenched in BBQ sauce then topped with grilled onions. In short it was delicious. I can’t wait to try the corn beef, pastrami and Philly cheese steak made with the brisket. I will be coming back here again and recommend it to meat lovers. They don’t have a overly extensive menu but what they have they seem to do really well.

Came in around 1 on a Saturday. Their paper menu says they’re open until 2:30 on Saturdays and that they stop serving sandwiches 30 mins before closing, but they started to scrub the grill and put seats up around 1:15. Were able to get sandwiches just after 1. Their board of hours showing through the window says they are closed on Sat & Sun. Not super into Pastrami, but the sandwich was good. Boyfriend got the Reuben which I thought was better with more flavorful sauces.

Decent sandwiches. The meats weren’t especially flavorful or tender, just ok. The place has a homey, no-frills feel. It’s nice that the sandwich comes with potato salad, a pickle, and a cookie though.

Great quality, huge portions, and great prices. Unless you’re super hungry, sharing, or want leftover for dinner order half a sandwich and choose soup or chips. It will also come with potato salad, pickle, and a small cookie. Ruben was just the right combination of smokey meat, sauerkraut, melty cheese, and onions on toasted marble rye. The horseradish on the side is no joke, real fresh horseradish not that horsey sauce mayo stuff. BBQ sandwich didn’t come in half size so we have leftovers, and I’m glad. So so good.

I cannot believe this place exists in Seattle and isnt a bigger thing than Paseos. This place is so effing good. Like absolutely out of place with this kind of authenticity. These sandwhiches remind me of things I thought only existed on the East Coast. The horseradish paste hits so hard but you wont stop spreading it on your sandwhich because the flavor is sooooo good. I’ve had the Rueben, Philly Cheese and French Dip. All of which have blown my mind. This place is definitely my go to sandwhich placr in Seattle.

This has GOT to be the best Reuben I’ve ever had!!! Thick grilled marble rye topped with mounds of fresh corned beef, swiss and sauerkraut, served with 2 kosher pickle spears and potato salad. Add 1000 island and horseradish and bam! Best. Reuben. Ever. A must do if you’re in Seattle.

«Hearty, simple, tasty, meets a hot grill.» There are many reasons why one would become a regular customer at Market House. This is a place of large serving portions of pastrami, corned beef, and rueben. The shop is located in the Denny Triangle area and parking can be quite a challenge. The menus are simple and easy to understand and the serving size of the sandwiches is enough to satisfy the hungriest patron. Seating is reminiscent of a New York Style deli with large countertop areas looking out the window. I frequent this shop and find both breakfast and lunch sandwiches filling and satisfying. For breakfast the bacon, egg, and cheese muffin is a good portion. I have also ordered the extra large sandwich which is a ciabatta with choices of two meats(opted for sausage and bacon). I recommend trying the rueben sandwich for lunch. Perfectly grilled rye bread with the right amount of sauerkraut. This shop does sell packaged meats and is a popular place during St. Patrick’s Day.

I do not know how I missed this place on previous visits to Seattle. Thanks to my friend for showing me the light. We met up for lunch one day on a workday for him and a vacation day for me. Originally we were going to go get tacos, but then he mentioned corned beef and pastrami and I said, «Yes please». Market House Meats was where we went. Around in some form or another since 1948. You walk in. No ambiance, but you aren’t there for ambiance. You are there for house smoked meats like the aforementioned pastrami and corned beef. For somewhere around $ 7 you can get a half sandwich(I had the pastrami), veggie toppings, potato salad, pickle and a cookie on marble rye bread. The sandwich was piled with a good amount of meat. In hindsight I probably could have gotten the whole sandwich, but sometimes I don’t need to gorge myself. This pastrami was the best pastrami I have had in a good while. Growing up in NJ and spending a good amount of time in NY I think I know what good pastrami is. This beats any pastrami I have had in Portland, but that really isn’t difficult to do. A dive where you can get some good sandwich meats. I wish we had a place like this in Portland. Ok, Seattle. You win this one.

Wow. Pretty sure I have a ¼ lb of pastrami in my tummy. That was delicious. I organized a 6 person lunch outing at work and even though the construction detoured our walk while it was raining it was delicious. I have passed this place many times and from the outside I was like eh. Turns out a co-workers and fellow Unilocaler loves the Ruben so I was all for trying it. We got there around 11:45am no line, grab a menu, fill out your order on the form, don’t forget to mark Cold or Warm and wait for your name to be called. Service may not be warm and fuzzy and the décor is bland but this is a place you go for meat. I had the pastrami sandwich warm, why would you ever get it cold. I can’t speak to the potato salad since I’m allergic to eggs, but the sandwich was amazing. Piled high with meat and warm melty swiss chesse, the bread was fresh and a great compliment. I highly recommend it, the sandwiches are LARGE. I probably should not have eaten the whole thing cause I want a nap now… I will definitely be back.

$ 10 for above average generously portioned pastrami sandwiches. Not so impressed by the«complimentary side» of shredded lettuce and 2 skimpy slices of tomato. I would return to give their famed corned beef kraut Reuben another shot. A good spot for a filling pastrami or corned beef sandwich!

don’t go looking for The Big Apple in a Washington apple world… after many visits to Seattle over the past year, these are the foods I’ve come across so far that a New Yorker should expect to be meh or horrible: pizza, bagels and now, pastrami. eating these would be like going to the middle of China and trying to find a good burger; why would you even try? wait till you get home, son! NYC’s greatest asset is it’s multicultural people that organically spawned a wealth of food choices that exercise your palate, but ultimately spoils you and thus is a curse. when leaving utopia, i’ve trained myself to expect mediocre food. i know that sounds very douche, but i’m just trying to keep it real with you Felecia, even though sometimes«keep’n it real… can go wrong». now, corn beef, pastrami, etc… isn’t exactly basic«American». however, the sandwich is something i take very seriously as a Zoo Yorker. a Jewish Deli has been a part of my weekly worship and diet since before puberty, which pretty much makes me more Jewish then anyone in this joint and quite possibly, ALL of Seattle. i have my fav places to get my fix at home when i want a serious bite and ones that will«do the job»(TWSS) and this joint is of that latter… it’s an «old school joint» that’s been here for a zillion years, by Seattle standards(this is a city that has«dive bars» that are a year old, wtf). the place itself has the feel of an old school butcher shop(which is dope), has friendly workers and the food is cheap. all of these should be enough to get you in the door and loving everything about it; you would think. the ordering is odd and quirky. you grab a paper menu and pen at the counter to the right. find what you want and circle the add ons or write a note next to said sandwich… then give it to a counter person/sandwich maker after you’re done. you can get it cold or hot(thrown on a grill and sautéed until«hot” — this option was the first sign of, wtf?) and the bread is either marble rye(horrible) or a basic hero. i got a pastrami on rye with mustard, because i’m a purist and i really wanted to taste the meat(#allhomo). bells and whistles mask the truth, Ruth. it comes in an eco-friendly container with a side of pickles(tasted like store bought) and either slaw(dry and terrible) or potato salad(I’ll never know). all of their meat is cooked here, obvi. oddly enough, i saw a big thing of brisket in a slow cooker(there were several), like the ones you might have at home, under one of their work tables behind the counter where the sandwiches are put together. that was interesting… any who, all of this seems like it is leading up to what might be a great sandwich experience. after getting my order, i sat by the window and opened up the container, while drool dripped on the counter from the corners of my mouth. and then, it went downhill. the mustard I asked for wasn’t put on the bread, but rather 3PACKETS of mustard were given to me on the side. pause… PACKETS…and it was YELLOWMUSTARD! Really? YELLOW? i almost threw the mofo’n container in the trash when i saw that. as if the disgusting pickles weren’t enough, yellow mustard insulted me more. how can i possibly take a pastrami joint seriously that serves me mustard, not only in plastic packets, but it’s fuk’n YELLOW, basic bitch, mustard! this is sacrilegious! blasphemy!!! i marched on… undeterred, and a few seconds of shock later, i took a bite, sans mustard. the great flavor you expect from a piece of in-house pastrami never happened. it tasted like something from a bodega, at best. the marble rye added nothing to the table. it wasn’t disgusting, it was ok. «ok» in the way a dirty dog or a .99 cent slice might feed that need. i should have expected average. however, the recommendations from my native friends and the«old school» look of the place leads you to believe an experience you will remember is about to happen and that was my undoing. i expected the taste of old school, pastrami in a foreign land that doesn’t understand or respect the brisket the way we do in New York. i ate half of half the sandwich before stopping. I packed the rest up and gave it to a homely dude under the overpass in Belltown that I passed earlier in the day. there’s a time and place for average pizza, average burgers, and Tinder dates. this place is a one night stand you think you want, because it’s been awhile since you got some and need a fix. so, treat it like the whore it is and you’ll be fine. if you come here expecting to find the next great love of your life, you’ll be disappointed and pissed you wasted your time. unless, you’re not from New York.

This is a review of lunch at Market House Meats. First off, in the land of bringing the East coast to the West Coast, Market House Meats is swingin’ for the fences. This is what an old school east coast deli is all about. The couple are very friendly and they know their stuff. Ok, I do not really know that they are a couple but, in my mind, they were high school sweethearts and have been married for 50 years. The ambiance is; well, there is a big room and there is some seating and there is a place to order your sandwich and that is pretty much all you need. It is basic and it is clean. Barbecue Brisket Sandwich — This was my lunch. Oh, Tom Douglas, take a trip over to Market House Meats. If you are going to charge 9 bucks for a sandwich, this is what it should look like. This was a great sandwich. The brisket was tender and sweet. The bun was nice and soft. The sandwich is a napper. It gets you ready for a nice long nap. And for pickle lovers, yes you get a big pickle with your sandwich. If you happen to be there when I am there, I will even give you mine. I am not a pickle lover. My brother had the same thing but with slaw on it. He gave it two thumbs up also. Most of their sandwiches are $ 8.95. Overall — I do not have much to add. To sum it all up, if you are looking for an old school east coast style deli, Market House Meats is the place. Great sandwiches served by a friendly couple. (ps — they also sell their meats in bulk for carry-out)
