Matthew is one of the first people I think of when I want to send my patients to a lawyer who I know I can trust to provide great service to my clients and treat them ethically and responsibly, so they can be rest assured they get the care they need, from me or elsewhere. I was involved in a car accident (rear-​ended) that left me needing chiropractic work. At the time of the accident, I had a toddler and a newborn (not in the car with me, thankfully!). Managing the chiropractic care was difficult for me — finding babysitters for my children, travel back and forth, etc., and handling insurance paperwork on top of that felt overwhelming. In June of 2014, I was a passenger in a rear-​end collision. A young woman who had no insurance hit our car and I suffered severe neck and shoulder injury. I was examined by a doctor immediately after the accident and was told I had double whiplash. It was late in the day so I decided to get some rest and re-​evaluate later.
After suffering through a couple days of severe pain I made an appointment with a chiropractor. Choosing Dr. James Devine was the first best decision I made after the accident. He suggested that I contact a lawyer to help me through my case so I could concentrate on healing and didn’t have to worry about insurance and bills, etc. He recommended Mr. Matthew Dubin. I had a bad experience with a lawyer some years ago and while I thought I might go for a consultation my first intention was to handle the case on my own. I felt I could get through everything okay and get a settlement and move on pretty quickly. That was my first mistake. My injuries were far worse than I thought and insurance companies are not easy to work with.
My first consultation with Mr. Dubin went very well. I felt that if I needed a lawyer, I would definitely seek him out. He was very caring while I described the accident and the pain I was feeling and told me that he thought he could help me. I liked his demeanor and found him to be very down to earth. His staff was also very kind and helpful and there was never any pressure to hire him. I kept his card and decided to wait.
I kept going to treatment at the chiropractor and some months later I was starting to feel some relief. Then I received the first notice that the insurance company had decided to refuse payment on some of my treatments. I was floored, scared, and immediately called them to find out what was going on. This started the fight. I kept getting refusal to pay notices and had to deal with calling them and trying to get them to pay for my continued treatment. I stopped the massage therapy and decided to decrease my chiropractic adjustments due to fear of having bills I could not afford. Bigger mistake. Within a week I felt like I was back at square one. I was in so much pain I could hardly move. It seemed I did need the continued treatment as prescribed. After a tearful visit to the chiropractor, and again at his recommendation, I decided it was time to hire Mr. Dubin. This was the second best decision I made after the accident.
I called Mr. Dubin’s office and was comforted by his legal assistant, Catherine, while I tearfully explained what was going on. I then copied all my records to date and took them to his office. At that visit, I was able to briefly speak with Matt — with no appointment. That encounter with Catherine (Cat) and with Matt made a huge difference for me. They reassured me that my main concern was to continue my treatment and concentrate on healing. They said they would handle the paperwork, the phone calls, and the arguments. At that moment I felt my burden start to lighten. They took over my fight. And they fought very hard for me. They kept me informed of the process and were kind and caring at every step. It was easy to hand over the fight because it was clear that Matt was focused on getting the very best outcome for me on my case. When we received the insurance company’s top settlement offer and I agreed to it, Matt actually got them to increase it a little bit more. This is what he does. He works harder and better for his clients and pushes to get everything that he possibly can.
Today, nearly a year after the accident, I am receiving a nice settlement from the insurance company– an amount I never would have received without his representation. While the chiropractor treated my injuries and my pain, Matt, Cat, and the rest of his staff gave me the peace of mind I needed to get through the pain, my treatment, and the healing process without the stress of fighting for my rightful settlement. Should I have the unfortunate experience of another injury accident in the future, while I am on the way to see a doctor I will be on the phone to Matt Dubin. I recommend him whole-​heartedly.

Of the staff, the primary person we had helping us was Becca. She is: direct, honest, concise, incredibly intelligent, well spoken, funny, & caring. She took as much time as we needed to explain every step of the process we were embarking on (which is confusing to say the least). I never felt like I was wasting her time or that she was getting frustrated with my lack of understanding of this process. Unfortunately, I was in many car accidents in my life. It was a low-​impact accident which means the car that hit me was driving at a low speed. My injuries from this last accident, however, was nothing small. Initially, my right arm went numb.
