Great place! Today is so cold that I want to eat Korean tofu soup. I visited to the place and I think that taste is so delicious, especially bibimbap combo which include tofu soup and bibimbap is awesome. But I am looking forward to taste another combos. I would like to recommend the place to person who wants to feel warm and eat delicious choice:)

With a promising location close to UW campus, there was alot of high hopes. However, their soft tofu soups fail to deliver. Soups were very bland and forgettable which isn’t what Korean soft tofu soup is supposed to taste like. Would not recommend.

Formerly the BCD, which is a California-based chain, this location has now renamed/rebranded itself Kong Tofu House, which is a local chain consisting of 3 total locations in this area. Aside from the name change and a few menu changes, this place is essentially the same as before. The tabletop signage still lists BCD… I recognize most of the staff, though it seems like they are hiring constantly. As for the menu changes, the tofu soup is over a dollar cheaper($ 7.99) than it was under the previous name, however, that cost reduction is likely due to the rice which is now served in a small metal bowl. If you’d like to get rice in the stone pot for an extra $ 2(which I recommend), it’ll be about a 15mins wait. Once you get the rice, they don’t do the thing where they scoop the rice into the metal bowl and pour hot tea into the stone bowl — they had previously done this inconsistently under the old name, however. For the ban chan, you no longer get the whole fried fish which totally bums me out. I haven’t had a chance to ask if you can order that for extra cost, but will next time. But they do load you up on ban chan, last time we got 7! The other menu items seem expensive to me, with bibimbap over $ 10. They still offer combos of an entrée plus tofu soup, which is a lot of food. However, I will stick to just the tofu soup. It comes out boiling, but they won’t provide a fresh-cracked egg unless you ask and maybe it’s just me, but the tofu itself isn’t in large chunks like before. Service is still pretty good. They get crowded during lunch. Still very loud with the music and people talking, but it’s…nice. I’ll still round up to a 4-star because if you didn’t know how the BCD was before, you’d like this place a whole lot more.
