Kirby’s Computer Repair

These guys are great, they diagnosed and fixed my Surface Pro 3 within 24 hours AND put Kaspirsky on it and it was at a great price. It was going error-​crazy and had to be wiped back to factory startup but they backed up all my photos and documents before doing so and when I turned my Surface on all my files started repopulating from Onedrive. Arash is extremely knowledgeable and friendly making the experience very pleasant. If I have any problems with any computer again will definitely be going here. They make supporting small independent businesses easy by kicking major ass!

Kirby’s Computer Repair shop is a nice shop located in Ballard. I don’t typically go to computer shops, but I would definitely go back any time I need computer help. The owner, Arash, is very professional and helpful. They are extremely prompt on getting your computer back to you as soon as possible. And I had no idea they do house/​business calls… very cool! My computer simply needed to be whipped, viruses over ran it (bought in 2006, lasted me through college… its 2015 so hopefully it will last me another 9 years). Prices are reasonable especially for Seattle area. They also did a backup of my pictures/​documents and reloaded basics.

Echoing the positive reviews of others on here: I too had a great experience. The guys at Kirby’s assessed the corruption on my old laptop and helped me pick out a new one quite well. I admit I was already rather looking to get a new laptop anyway, and it was great to have knowledgeable assistance picking out one of their refurbished ones. I love my new laptop and have not had any problems with it, but if/​when I do I’ll definitely bring it here. The guys were most helpful, even answering some follow-​up questions I had a few days later, when I called. Definitely recommend.

I found the owner to be very knowledgeable and ethical. He diagnosed my corrupted back up hard drive and suggested it just wasn’t worth the time and money to try to recover any of the files. I will go back there if the computer gods smite me in the future.

I had a very positive experience. The keyboard and touch pad on my laptop stopped working after a Windows update corrupted the registry, I spent several hours looking up solutions on Microsoft knowledge base site, applied a number of them, but nothing worked.
I brought the laptop to Kirby’s, after a free diagnosis I received a recommendation and an estimate to fix the problem and less than 24 hours after my go-​ahead I had the laptop back. It was reassuring that part of the repair was a back-​up of all the files and purging of the back-​up when the laptop was working and the files on it were intact.

The DC jack on my wife’s laptop was damaged so that she couldn’t properly use the cord or charge her battery. We took her laptop in to Kirby’s Computer Repair and were told that the jack would need to be soldered back on, but that they don’t do those kinds of repairs. It seems hard to imagine a «computer repair» business that cannot repair one of the more critical components of a laptop. The employee also told us he didn’t know of anyone that could fix it. It seems that the gentlemanly thing to do, especially given the fact that there is another repair shop half a block down the road, would be to point us in that direction. Whatever the case, we took it to the place down the road where they told us it was easily repairable and would be back to us by the end of the week. We were taken by surprise that Kirby’s couldn’t fix our laptop after reading such positive reviews.

Im 100% not a tech person. So taking my laptop to a place that knows what they are doing is really key. I drove by the place and talked to the 2 guys that work their, and it seem like they were very trust worthy, so i decided to drop off my laptop their. What a great decision, not only was it fixed but the price was reasonable. The place is ran by 2 brothers, so you get a sense of assurance. Def recommend this place!
Didn’t know, but the place is named after their dog that had passed away a few years back.

I have never had my computer screen turn blue :/​It seemed to have crashed, if that is what crashing means! I looked for a place near by and went to them. They knew what was wrong, and I was able to have my computer back in two days. I do not know very much AT ALL about computers, but I was so happy I was able to hold on to mine for more time to come. I’ve used it for a week now and it is running better than it was before it crashed. I would recommend their repair shop for sure :)

Save yourself the hassle and don’t come here!
I had a virus on my laptop which prevented me from saving files on my desktop and I couldn’t get rid of the annoying green background on my desktop. Before coming here, I was able to access my files and photos just fine. They charged me 200 dollars and claimed that the virus was gone. Even though after coming here, I lost ALL my data. The photos, files, everything! I still paid for the service because supposedly the virus was gone. A week later, my laptop crashes and won’t even turn on. I take it back and instead of an apology for a service that I paid for that wasn’t even accomplished, the owner gives me attitude. He rudely responds that I know nothing about the computer since he’s the one who owns a computer shop.
Well Mr. Owner, if you know so much about computers, why weren’t you able to fix mine?
Now I will have to take my laptop elsewhere to someone who actually knows something about computers and get it fixed. 200 dollars down the drain for absolutely incompetent service. The only thing they care about is taking your money. Extremely money minded! Do these people even know good customer service?
Horrid experience at Kirby’s! I’ve had better service at OfficeMax where it’s more expensive, but you pay for a job well done!
AND in response to the owner:
They set up a payment plan but decided to leave a very rude message on my phone regarding payment. If I left my laptop there as collateral then I will definitely make those payments — no need to be rude about it. I felt awkward so ended up borrowing money and paying them off within two weeks of setting up said payment plan.
They had specifically told me the data couldn’t be recovered because due to the virus, «another chapter has been added to all files». Yet the person who is currently working on the laptop has already recovered half my data! So, Kirby lied to me.
For someone who received such terrible service, I have a right to be mad after wasting 200 dollars for something that I had to take to be fixed by someone else.
Places like Unilocal support GOOD business and if I had received great customer service, this would be a 5 star review.
