Jamtown

Attended a birthday party here. It just wasn’t a good place for us; however most of the other kids seemed to enjoy it. The space was a bit cramped for the number of kids and adults. Plus no table or place to put coats, bags, etc. Probably not the best place for kid (s) with any kind of sensory or developmental issues. But for older kids I could see it being fun though I still think you would need to limit the number of attendees. Parking can be tight but at least they do have some. Apparently parties are through word of mouth so the downside was that we didn’t know what to expect-didn’t see any info in their website. The other aspect that could be good or bad is that the kids didn’t really have a space to burn off energy, so if you give them cake or candy be prepared for some hyper kids.

Had my 2 year old’s birthday party at JamTown and it was wonderful! The space is large and open and JamTown John does a great job engaging the kids and adults in the music. Party window time is perfect: 30 minutes for set up, an hour or so of music and then time for cake and chatting/​playing. Each child gets a party favor at the end of a «shaker» or a «handmade Peruvian whistle.»
We had adults from 16 – 65 years at our party and kids from 2 – 10 years old and the world music focus, space design and style of party worked great for that mix of ages, so that everyone was integrated into the fun.
Logistics like parking, clean-​up, online booking and payment are just the icing on the cake! Working with JamTown was a real treat!

We held our little guy’s third birthday here today with approximately 17 kids. It was a wonderful time! Jamtown John did a fabulous toddler program with the kids. Fun and wiggly, but somehow calming too. There was plenty of room for dancing and playing a variety of instruments, with parents on the floor or in chairs along with the kids. John provided colorful paper products for the snacks/​cupcakes. The flow of the program was perfect timing — two hours, which is more generous than a lot of kids’ party allotments. John was very flexible and easy to work with on setting up the party. All the kids get to leave with a little ocarina — a fun party favor! Highly recommended.

We had our first class (and first meeting) with Jamtown John yesterday. IT WAS GREAT! John has an amazing way of keeping everyone (ages 6 – 45) going in the same direction, but in such a gentle manner. Within 20 minutes, WE WERE MAKING MUSIC! Really had a lot of fun, and can’t wait to go back for the next class (even the 11-​year-​old boy who is in the «too cool for everything» stage). Jamtown has an amazing selection of instruments in a wide range of price points from «affordable even for a toy» to «seriously committed to this music thing» — I’m bringing my checkbook next time. What a terrific teacher — SO IMPRESSED!
