Things have changed at Homestreet bank.
They closed my account for no reason, as I found out when I went to make my deposit today. Had accessed it a few weeks ago with no problems.
Tried to re-​open the account, the teller is put on hold by her own team.
Waiting, waiting, waiting. No results.
Took my money and walked out. I guess they don’t want it on deposit any more.
Fine.
Called three hours later, gave them a second chance for them to tell me what’s going on.
They were asking me security questions I don’t ever remember setting up answers for – as if my name, address, social, and phone number were not convincing enough.
Security overkill.
So, I called a third time, this time my wedgewood branch. Told them what was going on.
Put on hold.
Waiting, waiting, waiting. No results.
I guess I just have everyone at Home street stumped. Wow. What has happened here.
I guess we’re done.
Let my account stay closed then. I can take a hint.
Cutting up my new debit card now.
What is happening with these banks now.
Unbelievable. It’s not like I’m on the street or anything, I’ve been working my whole life and am about to retire.
I will probably open an account now at either Bank of America or U.S. Bank.
What else can you do when you’ve been kicked to the curb and thrown under the bus?

If you live in the Pacific Northwest, chances are that you may have heard of this bank called Homestreet Bank, well in all probability you haven’t and neither had I. They did however offer something called a Seahawks checking account and I was intrigued. Being a hawks fan and seeing a decent bonus with the account I decided to apply. This is where things went downhill.
I had often heard about elitist banks who would turn down customers for checking or savings accounts, but never understood the concept. It makes sense to refuse credit to customers but why would you turn down someone’s deposit. This is my first experience with it. I for one have nice credit, never missed a payment, the only black mark on my credit/​Chex is maybe too many recent accounts which none of the other biggies like Chase, WF, BofA etc. ever cared for.
I applied online with a large deposit and all seemed to be well, my deposit was accepted and I was asked to sign over some papers and send for a signature record. I don’t hear anything for a few days, no welcome or courtesy phone call, no other communication on email. A few days later I receive a small letter from them telling me that due to my Chex report I have been denied for the account.
Yowsa ! Apparently me not having assets makes me ineligible for having a checking account (it listed a few other reasons also, 5 if I remember correctly). Someone was making good use of their analyst position and justifying their pay check I see.
Anyway, they said my deposit would be refunded. I sent them a letter few times, it was only when I threatened a complaint with the regulators that they actually became serious about the returning money part and involved their higher ups. They claim they had refunded my money long ago.
I got my money back around 2 weeks after my initial deposit. So someone was earning sweet interest on money they didn’t want for 2 weeks. When I sent them a mail telling them that my money is with me, not even a thank you for letting them know. This after apparently their higher ups in customer service were personally looking at my request. Wow, arrogance personified.
Personally I have decided never to transact with Homestreet bank in my life and to dissuade all friends and family from doing so. Only slight problem is that none of my family and co-​workers have ever heard of Homestreet bank. Oh well, job half done then !

We joined this bank when we moved back to Washington several years ago; a friend highly recommended it. Our experience has been wonderful.
We took out a mortgage through them — reasonable terms, lots of attention. We have a checking and savings and PO box with them. They are always welcoming, efficient and competent.

I have never Unilocaled anyone ever and this Bank deserves it.
I would advise not banking here. I arrived at this branch looking to open a business and filled out all paperwork necessary and were told we had to have an atm inspection before we could open an account.?? Having an ATM machine at our facility has nothing to do with opening an account. They told us the inspector has broken his ankle and it would be a couple of weeks before we would get our account. It has been 2 months now. and no one has ever called us again to finish the process.? We walked in to the branch yesterday and they wouldn’t talk to us and said someone would call us asap and that never happened. I wouldn’t do business with this bank ever.

I love this bank! I am so glad it is my bank. I can walk there & I use their drive thru every now & then. Everyone who works in this location is so friendly & helpful. I normally sit down & visit with Elaine while making my deposit. Very nice décor including a gas fireplace. :)

This bank understands the wants and needs of its customers, and they support community, kids, and the zoo to boot. Their service offerings are good, and their fees are mostly reasonable. Their online banking is the most intuitive system I have seen. The people are personable, and they do their job well. I work late a lot, so I often have to do my banking right before closing, and the staff is always accommodating. Even if they can’t stand that I do that, they never mention it.
I especially like that (although financially solid) they are not tied to any corporate giant national bank. This says a lot about the company because it means that they are smart at the corporate level. As long as they stay that way, I will be a customer.
