About a quarter of the team here knows how to make a sandwich and can do it with grace and a positive attitude. I love home grown but so often do I find myself with a sandwich that is almost nearing unacceptable. And some of these employees are on their phones when they should be working. But there are those of the team that are amazing and are truly the saving grace of this particular location.

Had the beet salad with mixed greens and the balsamic vinegarette. Total was over nine dollars. Amount of greens was huge, but amount of everything else was tiny. Beets, cukes, and onions were lovely, too, which made the tablespoon or so that I got of each even more of a pity. Unfortunately, the greens were not properly washed, so at one point I got a bite full of sandy dirt. Yuck. Service was exceptionally brief/gruff/laconic/efficient. Of all the places in Melrose Market, this is the least interesting and worst value, by far. If you are in the area, go get some cheese or wine instead.

Organic! Fresh! Tasty! … and they are eco friendly too! What else do you need? I decided to grab a quick breakfast there. The location itself turned out to be very cool too. I like those kind of places — a big wearhouse type of a building with many vendors inside, all designed in a very modern, cool way. Then the food! I took a Bacon, Egg & Beecher’s breakfast for dine in(after reading reviews highly recommending Beecher’s cheese!) and a two halfs of Hummus & Roasted Red Peppers and Ham & Beecher’s for a take away. Those sandwiches made my day ;) Very tasty, crunchy wholegrain bread, fresh veggies and yummy combination of tastes… and that smooth rich in taste Beecher’s… highly recommended!

Tasty lunch stop on a rainy weekend. I ordered the TLT and a cup of vegetarian chilli. Friendly staff and quick service.

Ok I have to say when we entered we were blown away. We had no clue that it’s not just only a restaurant, but several little shops as well. From fresh meats to fresh cut flowers to cheese and wine. Now back to my review, the service was excellent from when we entered to when we ordered our fresh sandwiches. Hands down to this place. We cannot wait to go back and try some of their delicious lunch items and behold our breakfast sandwiches were Delicious! We definitely be returning as a regular many more times Oh you want to also try the dry sodas and the fresh pipping hot coffee as well. Just something nice and sweet or hot whatever you choose to start your day right(Seattle) weather gotta love it

In the 2 weeks I spent in Seattle I went to Homegrown 3 times. That should speak for itself. All of their different sandwiches are delicious. The secret must be in their bread. I also added a side of the tomato soup which complements the sandwiches quite well. Next time I am in Seattle I will make sure to stop by here again. I had a few friends with me and they had the same opinion. If you want a good sandwich then this is where you need to go.

Delicious, healthy but pricey. The place is clean and bright, with large open kitchen in the middle, and bat stools along the big windows. Nice place for a casual lunch and people watching. And in capitol hill, the people watching was never boring. The waiting time is kind of long. I can see it’s well organized and the staff are non-stopping. However our order of two sandwich still took quite a while. I guess the business must be pretty good. The chicken cherry pecan sandwich tastes great. Texture wise, the crunchy bits in the wholegrain is a great contrast with the chicken salad. The grilled chicken breast was surprisingly tender and moisten. I like the cherry and pecan in the salad, adding subtle sweet and spicy flavors to the creamy but mild aioli. One complain I have though, is the yellow stale leave in the sandwich. For a $ 11.5 sandwich, you’d expect all the ingredients are the freshest. My wife ordered smoked pastrami on French bread, which got nice texture and balanced flavor as well. With its distinctive salty pastrami, the sandwich is much more satisfying for the meat lovers. Cost $ 12. Though all the ingredients are organic and fresh, the still felt a little overpriced for me. For most sandwiches, there the price is $ 10, not including chips and drinks. Meanwhile, I have to admit it’s quite delicious, and it’s located in the trendy Capitol Hill area, so I guess it worth it.

Came in around 1215 pm. They were busy, so the 15 minute wait for the sandwiches didn’t bother me. Place was nice enough, clean and there was plenty of seating. Now the food. The menu said«Hot» by the sandwich I ordered and it came out luke warm at best. Not hot, not warm, room temp with entirely too much aioli, and not enough spinach. Spinach is pricey I get it but you don’t need half a gallon of aioli on your bread. 3 stars for organic local sandwiches.

GOFOR: BREAKFASTSANDWICHES I come here weekly for the HALF breakfast sandwiches $ 4 — $ 4.50. Favorites: 1). Avo + Egg + Cheese 2). Bacon + Egg + Beechers Gluten free bread is delicious(ya know… as far as GF breads go). Nice breakfast nook if you want to sit awhile.

Be warned — the pictures on the website greatly misrepresent what you will be getting. We ordered the ham, egg and cheese breakfast sandwich and the bacon, egg and cheese breakfast sandwich. The bread to other ingredient ratio is totally out of whack — way too much bread for the one slab of ham/bacon on the sandwich. Additionally, the whole grain bread completely feel apart as I ate it(the French bread kept together much better). Two of our four yolks was completely overdone, as if we ordered them to be hard boiled. I’m convinced the eggs are not fried, as advertised. This cool space has potential but I was disappointed in the false advertising.

I visited homegrown last week while in town for PAX. Homegrown is conveniently located around the corner from the Starbucks reserve room off Pine St. We were there early in the morning so there was no wait. Homegrown has a charcuterie in house cutting their meats! And all of their ingredients are sourced locally. Our friend who had been there before suggested we order the Bacon, egg, and Beechers cheese breakfast sandwich so we did. It was amazing. The breakfast sandwich comes with a fried egg, garlic aïoli, cheese(Beechers cheese) bacon and the most delicious bread sent from heaven and sprinkled with unicorn tears. It’s the most delicious breakfast sandwich I’ve ever had and a must for anyone in Seattle. I purchased the large size but half of the sandwich was enough given all of the rich delicious flavors. I was nice enough to share my other half with my friend. I do apologize for the lack of pictures it was early in the morning, I was tired and I also did not want to wait to eat my delicious sandwich. Like my bf’s boss said«A breakfast sandwich is a breakfast sandwich– but this is something else!» he really said that :)

Ohhhh soooo happy we came here. Full of flavor, obviously fresh and with the option to just get a half portion for my little half body? Ohhh yes. We got the breakfast sandwiches and it was just the perfect way to start our day.

I ordered their Turkey, avocado, & bacon on wheat bread. I thought it was pretty much a fancier Panera sandwich. You can taste the better quality that’s for sure. But would I pay ~$ 12 bucks for a sandwich when I can just toss some turkey, avocado, and bacon on wheat bread at my house? Not sure, not so sure if Homegrown is worth my money.

Its fresh and tasty, but for what it is its pretty pricey. Today I got a sandwich + side salad = $ 18 plus tip(because I had to pay an extra $ 2 for the suggested mozzarella to add cheese to the special seasonal sandwich.) I mean damn I didn’t even get a drink. I think I’d rather hit up a happy hour or another lunch spot in the area if I’m gonna be spending $ 20 on just lunch for myself it shouldn’t be just a sandwich! There aren’t many sandwich spots to pick from on the hill so I’ll most likely be back. I’ll probably reserve my visits to homegrown if I’m feeling like a light meal and lazy to go some place else. Sigh.

BLUF: Homegrown is quite delicious. It is also insanely expensive! While visiting my sister in Seattle we happened to walk past Homegrown and noticed that they were having a re-opening in a few days that was«pay what you want.» We made a mental note and headed over that Monday for lunch. I went with the Ham and Beecher’s, since everyone knows that is my favorite cheese and . My sister tried the TLT and her husband had the Turkey, Bacon, Avocado. We all enjoyed our(large sized) sandwiches, although they weren’t exactly huge given that they were the big size. I can imagine being quite hungry afterwards if you went with the small. You could also tell the quality of all ingredients was excellent and fresh. My real problem is the price. Along with my sandwich I had a pickle and a bottled iced tea. The price? $ 15. Pretty ridiculous. My sister’s meal was equally as expensive and her husband’s meal was quoted as being $ 20 with the addition of a small cup of soup. $ 20 for a weekday grab-and-go lunch? Despite being able to choose your price, I felt stingy leaving anything less than $ 10 and felt slightly annoyed walking out of there having still paid more than I would have for a huge bowl of phở and Vietnamese coffee down the street. Would I eat there again? Yes, on the condition that someone else was paying. This would make for the ultimate corporate catered lunch! Businesses, take note.

i’ve been here a few times and always say i’m not going back because it’s pricey for what you’re getting but somehow i always end up back there! was in cap hill and decided to stop in for a quick bite. i like that the breakfast sandwiches are served all day and i also like the quality sturdiness of the multigrain bread they used. i got the avocado, egg and cheese sandwich. there was a tiny amount of runny yolk in the egg, which i enjoyed, and the hot sauce was SPICY for me! but then again, i also have an extremely sensitive stomach so just ask for less if that might bother you. i got the caprese salad as a side which i enjoyed. plenty of pesto sauce and lots of little mozzarella balls(yum). the tomatoes were also really sweet. it’s healthy fare, but just keep in mind you’ll shell out a pretty penny for fairly small quantities.

My favorite breakfast sandwich! Wheat bread, bacon and egg, then add avocado. So perfect! A whole sandwich is pretty big and quite pricy at $ 9(whole basic sandwich, $ 13 if you add avocado). I usually get it in morning and lasts until lunch! It’s cooked at the time of order rather than reheated. And they use high quality, fresh and sustainable products.

Their sandwiches are the bomb. AND, I feel really great that all the yummy ingredients were locally sourced and quality. For once, I did not have to sacrifice a pretty penny to be environmentally responsible. I had the beef sandwich — half for $ 6.50. While it wasn’t a ginormous portion, it was a generous portion enough to fill a large appetite. My friend ordered the mushroom soup and she really enjoyed it and would recommend it. The potato salad and chips are good sides, but not must-haves. They have seating inside and outside — it is limited or a small area, so if you’re hitting a busy lunch hour, you may have to eat it outside or elsewhere. Hope it’s sunny, if so!
